First Id like to say that Im very appreciative of the fact that I called TopTec at 7 AM this morning and they were able to get someone out to my place to check out my sump pump issue within a few hours later and not charge me an emergency call service charge. In fact they even applied a coupon to the initial service charge. That was awesome. They sent out the first tech who was certified on sump pumps but unfortunately was not a certified full plumber. Part of his assessment was the PVC pipe going from the sump pump to outside the house was plugged somewhere and they would have to get a plumber out. So they sent the plumber out of whos comment was early on that he had only been with the company a few days. Overall he was not very professional and: 1. Not respectful of my property. He did not wear boot protectors even though I asked about it. 2. Didnt know what parts he had on his truck. 3. Didnt know any of the part prices and neither him or the office told me what his labor costs would be after initial service charge I paid after first guy came out earlier in day. 4. Ended up calling his office to ask about quote on a fuse for the battery system on battery backup and instead of trying a fuse first or even testing the system properly, over the speaker phone his office was immediately trying to sell me on replacing my primary pump and battery backup when both were still working. 5. Didnt really seem interested in returning things to the state they found them in initially. I was left with issues I had to call another company to come out and recheck and give 2nd opinion on state of my pumps. 6. When he called his office and they gave him the final invoice amount it didnt seem right and when I questioned him about it he didnt seem willing to call them back to confirm so I had to demand that he called them back and indeed the amount was wrong. I even had to pay over the phone with credit card. I will say that they were able to fix the clogged pipe and resolve the main issue. Its end of day and I still dont have an invoice detailing out my charges I paid. Im not sure of the quality of their other services but I will not be using them again for sump pump services.

We had two services done by TopTec. The first was fixing three leaks on the water heater (one water, two gas) and the second was a chimney sleeve for the water heater exhaust. Brian was the tech who fixed all our leaks and also gave the quote for the chimney. He was absolutely great and went far above and beyond in fixing everything completely at a great quoted price. We had a different company come out the night before and they quoted over 3 times the final price of TopTec and Brian. Absolutely recommended for quick, affordable, and quality service. The chimney sleeve was also the same quality work. Unfortunately, I did not catch the name of the person who installed, but he was also great. They came at the agreed time, called ahead of time to let me know they were on their way, and installed the chimney sleeve much faster than I would have thought possible. They cleaned up after themselves and left the area free of debris after the work was finished. We have a final energy inspection on 08/29 to apply for a rebate, so once we get the results, I can update this post with the news. Again, highly recommended! On time, hard working, great pricing, and quality work. Cant say enough good things about Brian and our chimney sleeve installer. Edit: We recently had additional services from TopTec: Jordan at Top Tec was absolutely great during the entire process during a project to fix water damage from a leak in our kitchen and upstairs bathroom. At his recommendation, we called Chicago W+F to help with the damage and finish reconstruction and it was a wonderful recommendation. Jordan identified the leak, assisted Chicago W+F with any questions they had, and was very helpful to me personally during the entire stressful time. On a second visit, Jordan fixed the leak, identified the actual issue and provided guidance on how to proceed. We are very happy with Top Tec and with Jordan and would absolutely recommend their service to anyone in need of plumbing. Well definitely be calling any time another issue pops up. Weve used TopTec for several years now for our AC and heating. They are very professional and responsible. They do their work quickly and I have had service done within one day a couple of times. They seem to have everything in their trucks. They always tell you exactly what is happening with your unit and what their recommendation is - this is key for me. They have told me how to do some basic cleaning of the unit. They also have an easy electronic payment process that emails the reciept and information directly to you - though it could be a little speedier. Dre L has come out to the house twice for the AC. Last year it was for a spring cleaning and system check since we had just bought the house the previous year. He gave us a solid report and cleaned the outside unit of debris so it could cool effectively. (Hes also very good with my dog.) This year we had an issue with the system and it was not cooling. Dre L found quickly that it was frozen so he told me we needed to let it thaw which could be a couple hours. We let it thaw and he went to another job quickly and then came back right on time. It turns out their is a pretty major issue with my AC and they do not sell this brand. He told me exactly what I needed to do to figure out if its still under warranty. He also told me that if its not under warranty, they can get the parts and that either way they can do the installation when needed. In the meantime, he got my AC running and gave me a best estimate on how long it will hold out. We also used them for a thermostat installation a few years ago. They have every kind programmable system. The one we got is much simpler to use than our old one and it was quickly installed and got my heat running again. Also, they may not make it exactly on time but they always call to let you know when they can make it as close to the appointment time as possible

Update 6/21/16 - I changed the rating to 3 stars from 1. Toptec did get people out to our house, identified the issue, and fixed it within 48 hours of identification. They were friendly and did good work. The only reason I have the rating at 3 stars is because it took a negative review here to get the type of service we should have received on our first call to them. That being said, they made up for it in the end and we are happy with the results. Update 6/2/16 - Toptec is in process of making up for this and fixing our AC. I will fully update the review when complete. My best advice is to stay away. First we called on 5/22/16 and left a voicemail indicating we were having AC issues. Since we never received a call back we called again on 5/26/16. The earliest they could come out was 5/28/16. After looking at our equipment for about two minutes their tech said there was nothing he could do at that time and they needed to schedule a line test. This test was scheduled for 5/31/16 between 2-4pm. They called my wife at 2:15pm that day and informed her they needed to move the appointment to Wednesday as their "new receptionist" should have never scheduled a test so late in the day as they take 2-4 hours. The best they could do was test on Wednesday but no guarantee they could fix it and get it running. I tried to call for additional information but was told that Joe (the guy who rescheduled with my wife) was unavailable and would call me back. After waiting an hour I called back and cancelled. I wish I had read reviews prior as this place has a history of doing this. Call other places people.
