Service blows AT&T away. Weve had Metronet service since shortly after they went active in our neighborhood. The initial installation went well, timely and efficient installer. About a month after the install, we had some connection issues, then lost all service. Called the main number, got a walk through remote trouble shooting with a tech (English speaking easy to understand local, not someone offshore impossible to comprehend). When that was no-joy, they elevated the service ticket to dispatch. A tech was out, on a Friday afternoon, within 1/2 hour. Fixed a broken splice in the fiber at the entry to the house, and made everything right. No charge. Earlier this week we lost signal, called this morning for a service call. They called back immediately, and when the remote trouble shoot didnt work, sent a tech out. The tech arrived 65 minutes after the dispatchers call and began the troubleshooting process on the ground. Determined that someone 1/4 mile away destroyed one of their junction boxes with some type of lawn / garden equipment. The guy pulled over a thousand feet of fiber cable after spending over two hours working on finding the break in the cable. Never complained, never grumbled, was very matter of fact and professional the entire time. These folks simply are doing customer service the old-fashioned way. No whining. No bitchin. No Charges. Were sold. Glad we dumped AT&T / Direct TV in favor of MetroNet.

I was having Metronet installed today (3/1/2017), the day after tornados came thru just south of our area. I only state as Im not sure if that was part of the issue. I tried to connect to Metronets web site, the mymetronet website, call their phone number I was provided, etc. Everything was down. Phone numbers I called would not go thru. I started at 6:15 am and until the time of this post at 1:45 pm (7 1/2 hours)- still not able to connect. I currently have Comcast and I have no issues with connection with any other website. I tried from my phone also - no connection to Metronet. Installer showed up shortly after 8 am. I told him that I cant get connection to metronet. He also website and phone numbers also and was unable to connect. I told him to halt any installation until I could understand why metronets website and all their phones were dead. Huge concern if this was a sign of things to come. Only person the installer could contact was his dispatch (I believe that is what he said). Regardless of the issue, their entire operation being down is of concern and I am holding off until I can get a reasonable explanation of why they were down. Again, comcast is fully operational at this moment! BTW - I am NOT a fan of comcast, which is why I was planning on changing services

Im regretting why I switched over to Metronet after using Xfinity Internet for past six years. I had metronet Internet installation done on 04/11/2017 and on 04/25/2017 in the morning there was no service. Made a complaint right away and was told that someone would call to fix the problem. No one called. Called them the next day morning and was told that someone will be there to fix the problem by 11am. Having experienced their inefficiency, I called them at 10:15 and I was told someone will be there by 2pm. Hoping that the tech shows up. Wasted 2 days. Now coming down to their claimed speed, Im a subscriber to their 200Mbps speed and finding it hard to stream 4K videos without intermittent buffering(4K videos need anything from 12 to 25 Mbps speed. Metronet tech would insist to use metronet servers to check speed. When I check speed using other servers, I get 47 to 94 and is nowhere close to the subscribed speed. Im waiting for the tech to come and fix the problem and Ill update the outcome thereafter. Update - The tech did arrive and fixed the Internet but speed is an issue. The web pages open much slower compared to my Xfinity 75Mbps and video streaming is not without buffering. Hope Metronet is looking at these reviews.

Ive worked with Comcast, AT&T, Dish, EPB, Google Fiber, Wow, Spectrum Charter, Time Warner, FiOS and other small company ISP providers. Never had a company be proactive in meeting a customer need that wasnt directed towards there support phone/email/chat. But Metronet has! Earlier this week I wrote a review in regards to my frustration with the provided AP technology. Metronet acknowledged the issue by calling me, apologizing for the inconvenience, and providing me hardware that met the requirements for a needed wireless network experience. I also received verbal confirmation that Metronet will be working with customers who received poor AP hardware and provide them with the proper AP. They also informed me that they will work with future customers on making sure they provide them with the proper equipment for a pleasant wireless experience. Metronets customer service is one of the best experiences Ive had with an ISP. If you are in the chicagoland area and have Metronet as an option compared to AT&T or Comcast, I would recommend on making the switch.

I had MetroNet Internet 100/25 Mbps service installed on December 2. The installation took around 3 hours. As long as you use your own wireless router connected to the Adtran ONT ( a device that Metronet supplies you with) your internet speeds will be as advertised. When I was connecting to the internet through the Adtran ONT, on the 5Ghz channel I was getting speeds anywhere between 4 to 40 Mbps. On the 2.4Ghz the speeds were even worst. Connecting my own router the speed went up to 100 Mbps on the 5Ghz channel. I have not tried a wired ethernet connection so can not comment. In conclusion I am delighted with the internet speeds I am getting now compared to Comcast before. No more buffering of Hulu or Netflix or Youtube and 4K videos from Youtube play without a glitch. Wireless speed of 100/25 Mbps is consistent in a 1600sqft three level home. Highly recommended as long as you use a quality AC router. Wireless router used is a Tmobile branded Asus RT-AC68U plus Edimax EW-7822UAC Wireless AC1200 Dual-band USB 3.0 Adapters.

Miserable experience. Stay away. Metronet came out to the house and spent 10 hours installing the service. When they were finished they tried to pressure my wife into signing off on the job. Luckily I told her not to until I could come home and verify it was working correctly. I was supposed to have 200 MB download speeds. When I measure the speeds they were 25 MB at the modem, 3 MB on 2.4 GHz WIFI channel and 15 MB on 5 GHz WIFI channel. After 10 hours of utter incompetence I was told some of the splices were probably not done correctly. WTF! Called them up the next day and had them cancel the service. Still getting calls and emails from this Mickey Mouse outfit saying I have an unpaid bill even though they never installed it properly and I never signed off on it. In Plainfield Stay with Comcast or ATT for internet. Save yourself the headache.

The speed blows away AT&T, at least according to my kids, and the customer service is 1,000% better than Comcast. Comcast irritated me so much I paid hundreds of dollars just to get away from them and when we closed on our house in Florida we didnt go with the community recommended Comcast but with another provider. What makes Metronet even better is we have an assigned rep at Metronet, Matt Paul, and he is so helpful and responsive. If they offer services in SW Florida Id be happy to use them there too!
