I have brought my own vehicles and vehicles of family members to Silzer Auto Repair for oil changes, new tires, major repairs, routine maintenance and more. Each time I have been treated fairly with honest repair estimates, quality workmanship and on-time completion. I set the bar very high with businesses and contractors I deal with professionally and personally. The Silzer Management and Techs have always exceeded my expectations and refrained from suggesting repairs that are not needed like others do to pad their commissions and bottom line. Recently I was planning to purchase a used pickup, so I hired Silzer to look it over to see if any repairs were needed before I purchased it. In less than an hour, they saved me over $2,500.00 in hidden repairs that were undisclosed and I would not have found and would have had to have repaired in short order. Silzer has earned my respect and business. I have no problem recommending them to all my friends and business acquaintances. I bring my F-150 here for all of my automotive needs. These guys that run this shop are more than accommodating! Super fast, reliable service. Long story short... I had gone through and replaced every part that I thought may be the issue and my truck still wouldnt start. I called these guys up and they not only troubleshooted with me on the phone to see if I could figure it out but when I couldnt they came and got my vehicle for me! It was fixed in just a few short minutes! This shop is very valuable. Doug ( the owner) is awesome! If he thinks something needs more attention he will contact you about what needs to be done personally. Nick, well lets say that guy knows everything! He has helped me out so many times with different questions! Top notch. Matt! This guy is super kind and very helpful! He goes the distance to take care of the customer day in day out! I feel like just stopping by to hang out with these guys to get to know them better. I am sure that they are as awesome outside of work as well! This place does it all as well. Anything automotive. I grew up here and have lived in Colorado the past 16 years. In town visiting and had an issue with the front end of my vehicle. After a long time friend recommended I called them and they told me they were booked solid for 2 weeks but to come on in and they would at least take a look since I had a 750 mile return trip ahead. When I arrived the manager immediately pulled a mechanic named Marco off the job he was doing to look at it. After putting the vehicle in the air they discovered the issue in the front end and conducted an immediate repair. The manager then had Marco go for a drive with me to insure the issue was resolved. The car drove great and while talking with Marco I found out he had been working there 19 years! When we returned the manager told me to have a great day and there was no charge! It has been so long since I have seen business conducted the old fashioned way with true professionals who know exactly what that they are doing. Extremely impressed by the manager and mechanic who helped me, a simple visitor from out of town.

I cannot say enough good things about Silzer Auto Repair. A few years back they did the AC on one of our cars, and most recently worked on the other. My car was having an on and off again problem but not turning on any check engine lights and not doing it when at the shop. Never once did they make me feel silly or act like I was wasting their time, or dismiss my input or thoughts when I was describing what I was seeing/hearing. They said next time it happens give us a call and theyd see if they could check it out when it was happening instead of later (when it might not do it again). Went ahead, got the brake work that needed to be done taken care of and an oil change. Months went by, no issue when I had it give me a little clue that it was going to act up and there it was. Gave them a call and sure enough, they were able to come to my rescue. I have never in all my car owning years had better service.

Fantastic experience with this auto shop. My story is that I had rattling noise coming from underneath the car. Matt from Silzer Auto kindly rode with me as I drove in the morning my car to listen to the noise. I dropped myself off at work, and then he drove the car back to the shop. He kept me informed throughout the day, and let me know what the problem was precisely. I also asked him to install plastic protection (splash shield, fender liners, mud flaps). All was done professionally. Beforehand, I couldnt figure out what it was, so I first took my car to the dealership. I paid too much for the service, and the problem wasnt even fixed. Worst, the dealers tried to sell me plastic liners for $300 apiece (they cost a fraction of that online). I would recommend Silzer Auto! Great experience.

These guys are great - here are the facts: 1) They call you before they do the work and discuss with you what they have found and what their proposal for fixing the issue is. They get your OK first. 2) They do the work correctly the first time. 3) They follow up with you after the work - making sure the work was done and no follow up issues have occurred. 4) They guarantee their work. They back up what they say they did for you. 5) They are courteous, and respectful. This leads to a final conclusion - they are trustworthy, and honest. They dont try and cheat you like other auto shops in the Des Moines area. Im an old fart, I dont give these kind of reviews ever - too cynical, so think about how far they had to go to earn this deep respect. Thanks Silzer ! Mike D.

Great service. After stopping at a few places and struggling to even get an estimate to replace my brakes, I stopped at Silzer. They sat down with me and gave me estimates for several options, working with me to get the price down to something I was comfortable with. They were able to get me in the next day. I was unable to get someone to pick me up, so they offered to drive me to a nearby coffee shop with internet so that I could work there while they did the brake replacement. They then picked me up when it was finished. They delivered spot on with the estimate which was a very reasonable price especially considering the 2 year warranty they offer. I will definitely be going back to them with all my car repairs from now on. I highly recommend.

My truck started overheating on a late Friday afternoon. I took it in for them to look at it, they were able to diagnose the problem, and they put two mechanics on it to be sure they could get it back to me that afternoon. They did a great job communicating the problem to me, and did this all for a great price. The following week, I got a follow up call from the owner to verify everything was working well and to thank me for my business. I was very impressed and would recommend Silzer Auto Repair to anyone needing work on their vehicle.
