Vehicle: 01 Cadillac Deville ~160,000 Miles Went in because of heavy vibrations at higher speeds. Assumed only tire balancing, as well as one tire had a slow leak. Asked to balance all 4 tires, repair leak, and alignment. Found out that my outer tie rods were bad, very bad. This caused the tires to "toe", and the inside of the tires wear on the ground - the non-treaded inside wall. They showed me the tire that was leaking and it was due to this wearing; you could easily see the wires inside the tire as it has worn down so much. The tires are less than 2 years old. That was just the beginning. They performed their standard check of the car and the results were not exciting. I new the car had issues but not to the level they told me. They said just to solve the problems they knew of immediately it would be over $3000. (not unreasonably considering the issues they pointed out). This is where the 5 stars comes from: The gentleman assisting me suggested I only do the balancing (as that would temporarily help with the vibrations) but I should weigh the pros and cons of getting a different car sooner. I was already planning on getting a new vehicle in 3 months, and he pointed out $3000+ could easily be better spent on new car payments as opposed to repairs. (current car value is $2000 in PERFECT condition) At the end of the day, I walked out the door paying ~$70, the vibrations fixed, worn tires moved to the back, and an extensive list of recommended repairs. The news sould have made anyone stressed, but I was relieved as the gentleman could have performed the services I asked and made more money, but instead decided to consider the customers needs first. I will certainly be bringing my new vehicles here.

In the past I have been disappoined with the service at Tires Plus in Ankeny. I had an incident yesterday where my tire was rapidly deflating and I was close to the location in Ankeny, Iowa on Delaware Ave, so I pulled in at about 7:15pm and asked the manager if I could get a flat repair done. I was surprised when he told me that he wouldnt be able to get to it until tomorrow night. Needless to say, I left disappointed. I understand that he was booked solid and busy, and I wasnt expecting him to drop everything and work me in that minute, but here was a driver standing in front of him, who had a situation where he was unprepared to drop the car off with no ride home, and didnt want to put the spare tire on. My car was literrally in his parking lot with some air in the bad tire, but deflating rapidly. He didnt offer to try to work me in, or help with changing the tire, or anything. He just gave me an apologetic shrug like he didnt much care what my issues were. (I would have gladly paid for any assistance he could have offered, or waited until he could work me in). But I informed him before I left that that is exactly why I dont come to Tires Plus - to which he said nothing in return. In any case I ended up driving down the road to a friendly locally owned BP gas station and the mechanic got to me right away, and was extremely friendly on top of that. I guess if I want cheap tires, Tires Plus might be the place to go, but the service at this location is poor, and not very friendly on top of that.

This is the shadiest Tires Plus I have been in, and dont plan to return. A simple alignment service per my previous lifetime alignment purchase turned into 3 1/2 hours of wasted time. When the technicians finally got my car into a bay, they discovered a bent lower control arm, and stated the alignment wouldnt do any good with that bent arm. I agreed, and was curious how much it would be to replace it. I was quoted somewhere around $260 with parts, labor, and tax. Thank goodness for smart phones, as I discovered the part could be bought for $50 (+/-) at OReillys Auto Parts and other various parts vendors. When I asked if it was just a labor thing that drove the cost up, $160 of it was for the part... The explanation was due to "quality assurances" and "lifetime guarantees" and "they only perform the best work with the best parts"... I drive a Ford Focus. Not a Ferrari. My shop expenses for a part I can replace myself should not be that high. OReillys also lifetime guarantees most (if not all) of their parts. I appreciate them letting me know of the broken part on my car, however I would recommend taking your business elsewhere. That being said, I have had a neutral experience so far with the West Des Moines location and should have driven the few extra miles to see them again.

Today I took my suv to car x since the front wheels were making noises... car x told me they needed to change both of the front wheel bearings... I told them tires plus changed one of the front ones about 2 years ago. I asked AND research how long they last...? I was told and read they last 50-70 thousand even over 100 thousands miles. The suv was our 3rd vehicle for about 18 months and has being our 2nd one for the last 12 months. Since tires plus changed the wheel bearing I only drove the car less than 20 thousand miles. I asked car x to see both of the wheel bearings they changed today and they both look the same which tells me either tires plus NEVER change it or put in a used one. I was charge $500-$600 and I was obviously lied or even worse robbed by tires plus. I have a credit card with tires plus and first thing in doing on Monday morning is canceling it. I am NEVER going back to tires plus and Im telling all of my relatives and friends my experience with tires plus.

VERY disappointed. Bought tires through tire rack and had them installed here. Nothing but problems. Been in multiple times with leaks in the all the value stems. $117.11 once- $25.97 flat repair- $30. Another. This is in addition to the installation fees. Today called about getting in and was told the wouldnt even look at a slow leak in a tire for 1 1/2 hours. They will not be working on our vehicles again. Lost all faith in this franchise. UPDATE- I did get a call from a manager after posting a review. He was polite and offered to fix the problem. I declined as I already had the problem fixed down the street. In his defense - He explained part of the problem could actually be my Mazda 3 Sensors- and he offered to look at my car again. So even though I cannot recommend this business - as they are understaffed and cannot look at a problem for 1 1/2 hours - I can appreciate the attempt to fix the problem. Im changing my rating from a 1 to a 2.

I set an appointment online at 10:00am, 6/3/16 for 11:00am 6/5/16 for a set of Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval AS quoted @ $77.00/tire + installation. When I arrived at the store, I was told that these tires were not in stock and had not been in stock for quite some time. Before I could get a word in, the rep tried to sell me a set of Firestone FR710 tires ($81.89/tire); an inferior tire for approximately the same price as the tires I had requested. There were 2 days of lead time for the store to give me a call and let me know that these tires were not available. Instead, I wasted a half hour driving to the store. By not alerting me that these tires were not in stock, they got me into the store, and tried to sell me on a more expensive AND different class product. Update 6/7: received a phone call and an apology from the regional manager. Very pleased with his candor and helpfulness. Was able to get the tires I wanted ordered through another of his stores.
