I went here for the first time because my new company asked me to service my new company car here. What a great experience! We were back two weeks later to have our personal family vehicle (beloved and ancient mini-van) serviced. When I first walked in, I was stunned at how clean the place was. SO different from the usual car care places. The guys at the front desk were smiling, nice, helpful, and there is a spot for kids to play games while you wait with some kind of X-Box thing and complimentary beverages (TAZO tea! Yum!), clean comfy chairs and up to date magazines for mommy. I had made an appointment for the oil change and they said it would be around 40 minutes. Looking across the parking lot, I saw a manicure place and asked if they would be alright if I waited over there. The guys laughed and said a lot of women did that. So, I went over for a walk-in pedi, and after slightly less than 40 minutes, one of the guys came over with my car keys and receipt for the oil change. It was less than I pay for an oil change at the quick-change place on Yankee Doodle without the usual up-selling! They had parked my car right out front of the manicure place. He thanked me for the business and I sat there stunned at the level of service. Usually I hate going in for the oil change (which is why I had waited 10,000 miles to do it!!) but this place was great. Two weeks later we brought our ancient family van in. It needed and oil change. We knew it needed more, the other car care place here in Eagan had looked at it a year ago and recommended over $2,000 in improvements. We just couldnt do that, so we thought wed just drive it till it fell apart. The guys at Honest-1 recommended the same improvements, but quoted us a price HALF that of the other place!! Husband and I decided that at that price, we could afford to protect this valuable family asset and had the work done. Again, quick work, smiling helpful front office staff, and the same squeaky clean waiting room. That was three weeks ago, and the van is running great. So happy to have found this place.

I knew I had something wrong with my back brakes so I went in for a free brake inspection. I should of know this place was terrible when I called and the person who answered sounded rude and unprofessional. Its close by to my work so I go anyway. They take everything off on the back side, supposedly, and then tell me I need new brakes along with a new calipers and rotors. The cost is close to $1,000. Obviously Im not going to pay for a service before taking it elsewhere and getting another estimate so I tell them to put it back together and Ill get on my way. They said its so badly worn out that they cant put it back together and I have to pay for it... I call my buddy and he tells me thats BS so after 10 minute talking with my friend, I go back in and firmly tell them to put it back together. All of the sudden the cashier tells me its almost put back together. Im about the leave the place and they said it would be $39.95+tax for the brake inspection. They never told me anything about this before. I have to tell them they have a damn coupon on the front page of their site that has it for free. After a thankfully quick final interaction, I finally get to leave- thank god. Few days later... A couple of friends helped me fix my car and they tell me Honest 1 never took off or tested the calipers in the first place. Nice one Honest 1. This place is a joke. Do not bother wasting your time and money on this establishment.

Nothing honest about Honest-1. I have been there for service 3 times and each time there was something more wrong with my car including mysterious failures that wont allow the car to be driven away. Here are some other fun facts about honest 1- 1. they often charge you about 3 times what you could buy the best version of a part for at your local auto parts store- under the lifetime warranty flag.... you are essentially paying for an extended warranty on their work as the parts typically have a lifetime warranty coming from the auto parts store. 2. They will not allow you to buy and bring your own part. 3. This is a franchise... the mechanics are paid based on the amount of work that comes in. So the more work, the more the mechanic gets paid... i.e. there is an incentive to find more things wrong with your car. In my mind, this leads to some unsavory coincidences... similar to what you have heard about with other national chain type auto franchises. Sadly... not many local honest mechanics anymore. Try and find owner operated where their name is at stake. Just my opinion based on some bad honest 1 experiences.

Beware - Unfortunately I bought a loyalty card for $80 prior to checking out this shop - it is close to my house. I brought my F150 there once and only once for an oil change - I normally take care of this. I dont know what they did, but 600 miles into the oil change, the truck was knocking very loudly - clearly heard through the firewall - from the top end when warm at low speed and idle. I had to bring it to another shop while on vacation to flush out whatever Honest-1 put in my truck. When I got home, I called and talked to the manager, Miguel who said that there was no chance anything they did that could have caused the issue - despite the fact that it had never happened prior to bringing it to Honest-1 and hasnt happened since getting it flushed out. When asked if I could get the money I paid for the loyalty card back, he said no because the cards were sold by a marketing company and Id have to contact them. If they cant get an oil change right, they cant do anything. This business has no integrity and does not stand behind their service whatsoever.
