Ive known Bob Usset for over 26 yrs now and I wouldnt go anywhere else. He used to be the store mgr at the Southdale Firestone when I first met him. Hes always been honest and professional and friendly. I followed him from Southdale to Maple Grove, only because I trust him. I now drive over 1/2 hr just to get to his store. He only hires top rate mechanics and over the last 26 yrs Ive talked with a lot of them. Ive found that if any of my vehicles needed extensive repairs, that were flagged on the inspection, that Bob has personally gone back and looked at my vehicles to assess. On numerous occassions, he has come back and said that something or other was going, but was not dangerous at that time, and that he would recommend, "If it was his mothers car", that I could wait until I needed new tires, and then get it fixed to extend the life of the new tires, etc. Then 10 to 15,000 miles later, I got new tires and had the repairs done at that time. Ive also bought several used vehicles, for self and kids, and ALWAYS brought them in first for him to do a complete vehicle inspection for $19.95, and some of the vehicles I bought, but a number of them I didnt. The vehicles all looked pretty good to me, but some were in need of a lot of work which I passed on. For $19.95 I left with piece of mind. If you plan on keeping a vehicle for any amount of time, the Lifetime 4 wheel alignment is an absolutely fantastic deal, and I just purchased yet another one from him on Wed 5/9. I always have my alignment ckd twice/yr in spring and fall, and after the second time, youre already way ahead. His tire prices are competative to any other quality tires around, and his store can do almost any "quality" repairs on just about everything that your vehicle would require, as I have always found, at good rates, (and on some repairs, Ive gotten other quotes). I trust him and his staff with all of my families vehicles, and intend to as long as hes there, even though I have to drive a half and hour to get there. Ive just read ALL of the other reviews, and am personally baffled at some, as I have NEVER found any of the negatives to be the case.

We have been using this Firestone since it opened and have been very happy with the service. We have had routine service done as well as major repairs and have purchased multiple sets of tires. In the past we have used Goodyear, Tires Plus, Car Dealers, various local shops and even other Firestone locations and we have been happiest with the Maple Grove Firestone. Bob and his team at Firestone have always informed me when other issues were identified with the vehicles, AND more importantly, they have indicated when I didnt actually need work done that I originally thought was necessary. Additionally, they have assisted me with very urgent mechanical issues and worked with me on finding lower cost or temporary solutions at a time when I was financially strapped. When it comes to pricing, of course it’s cheaper if you can handle the repair yourself and you can always find some individual willing to do the job for a little bit less; but every time I called around to other major shops for pricing (franchise and independent), the pricing at Maple Grove Firestone was always fair. This included a time when we decided to drop a refurbished motor into a vehicle instead of scrapping it. And since I know they stand behind their work and I’ve had great experiences over the years, I stick with Firestone. Plus, the fact that loaner vehicles are made available when possible is a really convenient benefit I didn’t find at a lot of other service stations. Overall my experience with Bob and his team is that they are fair and honest and I believe them to be good guys that stand behind their work.

I WASNT acknowledged about my presence at all when I entered building. The guy behind the desk stared at me. It was pretty obvious he knew I was there because we made direct eye contact. After standing there for about 5 minutes and receiving no help, a lady came AFTER me and he immediately asked her if she needed help. Pretty pathetic if you ask me, right? After all of that, the real reason I was there to get some tires installed I had them order. A different gentleman who handled my requests wrote down a price of about $390. This was $40 HIGHER than what I was originally quoted. I saw this and said I was quoted about $350 beforehand. He quickly changed back to his original quote he gave me. Made me uneasy as soon as he did that. I then asked how long it would take and he said about an hour to an hour and a half. I decided to wait.I got there a bit before 4 p.m. and didnt leave till 6:50 p.m. Almost 3 hours later, my tires are finally done. My estimated time was WAY off. Save your time and hard earned money to go else where. I usually dont leave reviews, but I feel like people should know these things about this place. The best part of this experience was leaving the building and knowing I had new tires.Im glad to have my new tires, but this place sucked. While they are nice people, the customer service aspect was horrible.

I recently stopped in to get some routine maintenance on my wifes vehicle. While my vehicle was being worked on, the owner, contacted me to inform me that I did NOT need one of the services I was requesting. I wanted a coolant flush in addition to the other work but he said that his technician had tested the fluid and this service was not needed at this time. He then informed me that the rear brake calipers had failed on the car and were not working. I had no rear brakes! I believe that most people would be upset at this news. I, however, was happy to be informed of this. I went back to the shop and they brought me back to the vehicle so they could show me what was wrong. I then realized that the car my wife and kids were in, almost every day, was unsafe. It was not only unsafe for them, but also other people on the road. I came to this conclusion myself and never felt pressured to get any service done on the vehicle. Unfortunately, I do not believe the owner and his team get enough praise. In the previous experience, they not only informed me of a service I did not need, but informed me of a situation that could have put myself, my family, or others in danger. I want to thank all of the teammates in this shop for the hard work they do every day. Thank you again and I will see you in the future!

A few years back I bought 4 new tires at Firestone store in Maple Grove. Less than a year later I brought the car in for tire balance and rotation. After about half an hour wait the guy -I think he was the manager/owner- came out and said my car needed ALL new tires, the threads were less than 2/32. I pointed out to him the receipt was dated less than 12 months ago that I had bought the tires. He went back to service and came back out to tell me (exact words) "You dont have to get new tires if you dont want to" - with a straight face. Needless to say, Ive never been back there again. SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!! go to Discount Tires instead, they dont try to sell you anything; free rotation and balance for the life of the tires- even on your other car regardless of where you buy the tires. This is the worst rating and review Ive ever given to any business.
