DONT DO BUSINESS WITH EXTRA SPACE STORAGE. THEY ARE EXTREMELY DECEPTIVE!!! This was my 1st experience with Extra Space Storage, and it will be my last! I was in need of a storage unit to rent. As I was driving on West Lake Street & Harriet Avenue South, I saw a sign for Extra Space Storage. On the SIDE of the building, a sign reads "FIRST MONTH FREE." On the FRONT of the building, a sign reads "FIRST MONTH FREE." At the ENTRANCE of the building, a sign reads "FIRST MONTH FREE." I got excited & I reserved a unit online for $145.00. The online ad reads "GET YOUR FIRST MONTH FREE." On Monday, 7/10/17, I went to the location on 2845 Harriet Ave South Minneapolis, MN 55408 with the intent to sign a lease for the unit. But the facility Manager, Joseph Schmidt, charged me $145 plus some other additional charges for my first month rent. I contested the charge by reminding him of the "FIRST MONTH FREE" offer. He told me they do NOT have any promotions at the moment and that the advertisement out there, means nothing. Then, I asked if the ad meant nothing, why are they still up? He told me that they wont let him take down the ads. I told him if he wont take down the ads, then he must honor the offer. He refused. He said he couldnt do that. That the best he could do was offer me 50% off. I declined. Stating it was all or nothing. I told Mr. Schmidt that I specifically Extra Space Storage because of the 1st month free offer. I did not know it was a fake. I told him that it was wrong of them to lure people in with false promotion, leaving the customer in a hard spot for a last minute decision. I got up and left. I will NEVER do business with Extra Space Storage. This was my first and also my last. Never again!!! Extra Space Storage, Shame on you for your deceptive business practices. Take the BBB name off your site. Because you do not stand up to what BBB is all about. BBB is all about HONESTY!!!

Avoid these guys at ALL COSTS!!! Firstly, Josh is highly irritable and confrontational, aggressively so. I dont think there is any chance on earth this man would pass a drug test. From my experience in behavioral health this man is using cocaine. These guys showed up late the day I was set to get my storage unit, pulled up in a BMW about 20 minutes late. I wasnt given the online promotion and ended up being over charged by $20 as a result. Was told I would get a bill via email and that email never came resulting in a $20 late fee. When I went to clear out the unit the door was double locked in what seems to me like either a complete lack of competence or an attempt by Josh to confront me face to face. I would avoid these guys at any cost, it just isnt worth doing business with a company like this. If I werent trained in mental health issues dealing with Josh would have been flat out scary. ***In response to the general managers reply, I appreciate that and hope it works out with the new staff. This however does nothing to set right my experience. I was intimidated by one of your employees, treated poorly, my time was not valued and I was over charged. Your response is great but doesnt correct the issues that I dealt with. Preventing further problems is commendable, correcting previous ones honorable.***

Just signed up for a storage unit today. The price was way lower than other facilities I have been looking at online. Kevin showed us a couple units so we could compare sizes to make sure we were making the right decision in size. I also saw the 1-star rating in regards to the person who said the 1st month rent free sign was a lie. I told Kevin about it and he said they always try to find the best deals for their customers, even when that offer isnt available. He proceeded to give me the 1st month free. It was the easiest experience I could have asked for. The facility is very clean and easy to access. Unfortunately, there arent many units left, so if you are looking for storage soon, I would act fast!! Thanks again to Kevin and the team working there!!

Convenient location in uptown. Decent pricing (use website for best deals usually). Good staff - no nonsense, but helpful and friendly. Units are nice, facility is clean. Units on ground and second floor - second floor accessed using freight elevators is easy. Plenty of loading carts (large) to use. Knocked a star for not being 24 hours (likely due to locale and crime potential at night), and for having a somewhat wonky system where you cant open your unit, close it, and forget something so you reopen it. If you do that you will set off the security alarms as you need to enter out security code at the outside door before each time you open your unit. Setting off the alarm is $50 fee.

Very convenient location. Service was friendly and professional. The facilities are very clean and easily navigated. There is plenty of parking if you do not want to pull your car into the dock when you only have a few things to carry in. The cost is very comparable to other facilities, there is a good range of sizes and costs. There is not 24-hour access, but I do not find that a problem and I dont have to worry about vandalism. I would use this storage again in future if I find the need again.

This was the most stressful and irritating experience of my life, just trying to sign a lease for a space. The person I dealt with was extremely pushy rude. He tried to make me pay for all sorts of extra things and got all cold and weird when I insisted I didnt want them. I actually gave up and left without taking the space. It was an utterly infuriating waste of a precious afternoon in the middle of a big move. I highly recommend you go anywhere else but here for your storage needs.

I just wanted to let the world know that I had an excellent experience at this location. I am very particular about my valuables but Brandon and Luke put my mind at ease. The units were very clean and spacious, the cost was everything that they quoted it to be, no surprises. I am very likely to recommend others, based the professionalism that I experienced. Im new to the area and was looking for somewhere to store stuff that I didnt have room for. Brandon was very friendly and helpful from beginning to end. I had a lot of questions and he never acted like I was bothering him. He was very knowledgeable and wasnt too pushy. Both of the staff were helpful to everyone while I was there. Would definitely recommend them to other people I know.

I had to move to the area very quickly after a new job offer. I worked with Brandon and Kevin, who answered every question I had in a timely and efficient manner. Brandon met me on site. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable, but also very down to earth. I was very pleased. I highly recommend this facility for storage.
