I usually dont go out of my way to bad mouth a business, but on this occasion I am going to make an exception. If you need car repairs, avoid "Honest - 1" in the Diamond Lake Neighborhood. I had one previously marginal experience with them and gave them a second chance. I used to be a professional auto mechanic and am able to diagnose and repair most basic car problems, but due to health issues I have moved on to another career choice. The alternator in our car failed, I was certain of the problem. Unfortunately my wife was stranded on 46th and 2nd Ave with the car. I called "Honest - 1" telling them what the problem was and expecting to use their free roadside assistance towing and get an estimate to have them replace the alternator. Apparently you have to call a special phone number to get the free tow. I can accept that, wasnt happy but ok. Then they charged me $50.00 to tell me I needed an alternator, a fact I had told them twice. The estimate they gave me to replace the alternator was almost $500.00 not including the tow. I asked how they came to this quote for a job that would not take more than 15 minutes and a part that even buying the premium part would not cost more than $180.00. I was told that the job was rated at 8/10ths of an hour and the part was going to be $356.00. Needless to say I picked up the car, paid the $130.00 for a tow and a diagnosis I did not need. I picked up an alternator, and replaced it in the street in front of my home in 20 minutes using only hand tools. So slightly over 3/10ths of an hour in the cold with no power tools. These guys are lying, dishonest scammers. Do not go there for anything unless you want to throw your money away.

Wolves in sheeps clothing. Not only will these guys cause more problems to your vehicle while fixing what you came in for, but they will charge way too much to do it. I had a muffler replaced here and after the replacement I suddenly had an exhaust leak somewhere else in the system. I should have learned my lesson, but no I brought it back and had my rear breaks replaced and suddenly my e-brake was sticking. It was working 100% perfectly before I brought it in. They denied that it was their fault and wouldnt own up to it. I was forced to pay to replace my e-brake cable. I would have taken it elsewhere, but I had to have it done asap since I was leaving town. My final try with these guys was when I tried to do the front brakes on my girlfriends vehicle and I couldnt get the right wheel off. I had bought the pads and rotors and replaced the left side, but one of the lug nuts on the right wheel was stuck. I was out of time and needed it done, so I called to see if they would finish the job using the parts I had already bought. They said its against their policy. I told them I have spent thousands there in the past few months and asked if they could make an exception. They said no. I hung up. They called back and said that the owner was willing to make an exception. Why now? Because you saw how much money you were making off of me and decided it would be worth it to retain my loyalty? So you can continue to rip me off? NO THANKS!!! Words of wisdom: Dont eat a place called "Moms" Dont play cards with a guy named "Doc" and Dont take your vehicle to a place called "Honest"

Absolutely impressed with the service here. They were able to get me in on very very short notice at an incredible price. I walked in the door, was offered service right away. Upon speaking with the gentleman at the front desk and handing over my keys, I proceeded to the waiting room to use the bathroom. When i walked in I noticed how clean and neat the waiting room was and the paint on the walls was perfect and no dings or dents in the walls. The floors were so clean you could eat off of them and the bathroom was even more impressive. For a mechanics business bathroom, youd think this was an office complex bathroom. My home bathroom isnt as clean as this one. Beautiful decorations and clean, neat, beautiful walls and once again, the floor was so clean...well you could eat off of it. Im so impressed with this place. Im thinking about using this place as my go to mechanic. I live in Blaine, but for the service, Im willing to travel. Thanks Honest 1!

After an unforeseen breakdown of my vehicle four hours away from home, I asked some friends that live in the Minneapolis area who they would bring their vehicles to. Honest-1 Auto on Portland was the response I received. They not only diagnosed the issue but also repaired it an hour and a half before the expected time. They then picked my daughter and I with all of our luggage up from a local hotel to bring us to our car. Everyone we worked with was incredibly friendly and helpful. About two hours into our drive home, my daughter realized that she forgot her school supplies in the shuttle vehicle and panicked. I called them right away and they generously offered to mail it all to us. Just like their promptness with my vehicle, her supplies made it back to us a day ahead of what they thought. I would highly recommend Honest-1 Auto Care. One of the best experiences with an auto body company. Thanks Joslin and all the guys there!!!

Its rare to fined a place that could live up to that name. I brought my car in for a brake noise that i thought was coming from the rear pads being worn out. After their inspection was done the advisor asked me to ccome out and look at the vehicle with him. At this point Im thinking great this has to be bad. We went out to the shop and he showed me that the pads were actually fine and the problem was some kind of hardware and that they could replace just the hardware and clean everything up. I was out the door an hour latter for under $100. They could have just kept me in the lobby and sold me a $300 brake job and I never would have known the difference. Thank you guys for being honest about what was needed you have earned all my future buisness.

Like the name implies these guys are honest! The staff is always upbeat and friendly and wont upsell you on things that do not need to be repaired. I have brought stuff there and had an overall great experience with people who are trustworthy. They are not pushy for you to get something fixed either.They just tell you what is wrong, quote it, and let you decide. This is my neighborhood go to place and would highly recommend it.

This shop straight up lied to me about needing 4 new tires. I took the car to another shop and they told me my back two tires were as good as new. This was on top of them quoting me $770 for some work that other shops quoted me $500. Will never return to Dishonest-1.
