Ellie, the receptionist, is "Minnesota Nice" at its finest. The passive aggressive attitude truly makes me wish I would have booked elsewhere, and I will do so in the future. Customer service apparently isnt one of this employees strong suits. Rather a big let-down, as this is the front line person a potential client comes to with potential business. UPDATE: Received a voicemail while on a flight today that asked to call the store to clarify my appointments. I called the store and spoke with Ellie. I had one appointment on Saturday, July 30th at 10:00AM with Scott for coloring, and two others booked on Wednesday, one at 1:00PM and the other at 4:30PM. I have several things going on that day, and wanted to see how Saturday went before finalizing plans on Wednesday. I relayed this information to Ellie, who was very short and condescending in her tone, which I was quite put off by. Less than an hour later, I got a call back as my next flight was taking off, so I wasnt able to answer. When I landed, I listened to the voicemail that said I needed to put down a credit card to hold the appointments, and notifying me of their cancellation policy, stating they would charge me 50% if I canceled within 24 hours prior to the appointment. This was 8:10PM when I got this message, so the salon was already closed. I went on the app to cancel my 4:30PM appointment on Wednesday, August 3rd and found that all three of my appointments had since been canceled. Im appalled, to be quite honest. After conveying to Ellie that I was traveling, she canceled every single one of my appointments before allowing me a chance to get back with the salon. Youve lost me as a future customer, and Ill be sure to let anyone know in the area to avoid this place like the plague. Be warned.

The Soapbox Salon is an incredible establishment! My first experience with them was two years ago while my son was a patient at Childrens Hospital and Clinics of Minnesota in St. Paul. At the time, my son was critically ill and every minute of my families life was spent at his bedside. There was not a lot of "me" time happening during our four month stay! In an attempt to find a little time for "me" on my birthday- I was recommended by both hospital staff and family to try this salon out which was pretty much just down the street! Natalie Lovejoy was my stylist and I will tell you the experience was AMAZING! She treated me with such care and compassion- my tired mind, spirit, and locks soaked every minute of it up! She let me rest in the quietness away from the bustling hospital- letting our conversation drift to wherever it led us! It was heavenly! She took her time with me and even extended our appointment just so I felt cared for! I walked out that door with THE BEST HAIRCUT I HAD EVER RECEIVED but also with a renewed spirit. Her genuine compassion and care for me made all the difference! As simple as this sounds, I was given the mental boost needed to be a better wife and mother for my family as we lived out our daily life for those months out of Childrens! Thank you Natalie Lovejoy!

After trying three other salons, in the last 1.5 years, because of disappointing haircuts, I was recommended this gem of a place! Soapbox is a wonderful St. Paul neighborhood salon with great customer service and amazing stylists. Ive gotten my haircut from Natalie twice now and couldnt be happier! Unlike some of the other stylists I entrusted my locks to in the years past, she takes the time to hear my vision, offer her expertise and then makes it come to life! If youre tired of leaving the salon disappointed... go to Soapbox!!!
