Update 10/28/15: The owner Ed called me this morning and apologized profusely for what happened. Said he did not know about what was going on (the calls were not routed to him). Also vowed to improve the company’s policy and give his cellphone number to all future customers so that they can contact him directly with concerns. I appreciated him reaching out and believe that he genuinely felt sorry for the way things were handled...seems like a sincere guy. He even offered to refund part of our payment which we also appreciated. THAT’S good business. 10/27/15: I took a week to calm down before writing this review to reflect on my experience and hopefully write a more balanced review. I was moving from New York to Georgia and so researched moving companies since I had some furniture that I spent a lot of money on and I didn’t want to risk friends helping me move them. I interviewed 3 companies and decided to go with TDY because the reviews online were great and the price was competitive. Well now I know the price was too good to be true. I had to change my move date several times which they accommodate without any problem. I continuously remind them of us not being available the first 5 days after moving for delivery and on Saturdays because it’s our day of worship- this they said would not be a problem. Things started to go downhill on moving day as when they arrived they told us that the cost of the move would double from $1100 (what was initially quoted) to $2300!! because they did not know about a storage unit in the basement. I explicitly told the person about the storage unit and the approximate number of boxes there when she did the initial proposal (she did not have time during her evaluation to see it...in hindsight I should have insisted she see it). Given that we were now in a time crunch we stupidly still went ahead with them and now instead of using cash to pay half on pickup and the other half on delivery, we had to use our credit card and pay the FULL amount upfront per their policy since we did not have that kind of cash available. Prior to pickup and even on the day of delivery we were quoted 3-10 days delivery time. We got a call 1-2 dys after pickup asking if we were available to accept delivery in a day. We reminded them that we stated on numerous occasions before pickup that we were traveling for work and not available until 5 days after. I guess that was our missed window because after multiple calls to their dispatch department to find out what’s going on with our stuff we would get vague replies that it will be delivered soon. The phone was answered by Nigel who was polite but unable to provide any information so I would leave message after message for the "boss” Adam who would then take days to return my phone call. Fast forward 3 weeks- we were relieved to get the call that our stuff would be arriving soon. The 2 people who delivered our items were very polite but dropped several boxes and stacked heavy boxes on top of boxes clearly labeled FRAGILE. After all of this frustration I now have my most prized possession, my china cabinet, that I wanted to protect the most ruined. The doors and shelves were taped together with duct tape (by their moving personnel) so the wood is damaged when the tape was removed. Pieces were also missing so that it can no longer be assembled (their personnel tried and stated this fact as well) and the sides had big pieces of wood chipped! I also have chairs with a broken back and foot. 2 bookshelves and a lamp totally destroyed, a box of china that I received as a wedding present with all plates and cups broken! Even with all of this I never once received a call from TDY apologizing for any of their mis-steps and damage. I am looking into any legal action I can take including following up with the BBB but would definitely NOT recommend that you choose this company.

I cannot say enough about what an incredible job TDY did with our move this Fall. Ours was a little bit of a complicated move, as they picked up half our stuff from Wall Street, moved our things into storage for six weeks, then picked up the other half from Long Island and finally delivered it all to our new address in Jersey City. In addition to the multiple locations and many moving pieces, we have VERY large pieces, including two MASSIVE dressers (I mean--huge), a and an expensive 8-ft mirror and many fragile items. Not only was everything handled with the utmost care and professionalism, our things were returned in the exact same condition as when we last saw them (no dings, nothing broken, nothing smelly, even after 6 weeks in storage- they keep everything wrapped and protected in temperature controlled environment. You can definitely tell after getting your things back!). The movers were absolute gentlemen, including Jeff who was our lead mover for each of the two pick ups and our final delivery. They were fast, efficient, careful, timely and absolutely fair with all their prices and practices. Not only that, but Angi (our customer service rep in the office) was so incredibly patient and helpful through many many phone calls as my roommate and I coordinated logistics. We could not be more pleased with everything and will absolutely recommend TDY to anyone. Hoping we wont have to move again for a while, but when we do, well only work with TDY from now on.

STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING ARE HIRE THIS COMPANY. I have moved every single year for the past 6 years of my life. Every. Single. Year. I have always changed companies because I never quite found the right fit. These guys blew my mind. They were INCREDIBLY efficient, packed even the most delicate of items very carefully, had the best can-do positive attitude and solved basically every single possible moving problem a person can encounter. Their customer service is also PHENOMENAL (how often do you hear that??!!!) -- I had a bit of a bank problem and they were so accommodating and kind. Your days of horrible moving companies and mean dispatchers are over. These guys will literally save your life. Im not kidding. Best movers ever!!!!!!! P.S. Shoutout to Ian & Ken who were my movers and are the best people in the world after my mom!

TDY is essentially what you would expect from a moving company exempt they are twice as expensive. I moved from New York to San Francisco and its wasnt a pleasurable experience. They contract out, out of state moves so the people delivering my stuff didnt actually work for TDY. They showed up late and delivered one of my items to a previous customer and offered to pay me to pick up myself, 2h away from where I lived. TDY themselves are reasonable. The upper management was willing to work with a little but the people I spoke to over the phone to arrange the move were dismissive and left out key details that ended up doubling the cost of my move. Maybe they are better for local moves but I wouldnt use them again for a cross country move. Shop around, although Im not sure any good option exists.

5 stars for the TDY team! My wife and I moved from NY to Miami. We shopped around for a few movers and considering the hassle of NY movers, we wanted to make sure we found the most reliable and fair vendor. To our luck, we stumbled upon TDY Movers. Very professional, efficient & reliable. Worked with Adam throughout most of the process. He was extremely helpful, thorough and communicative from beginning to end. The price that was quoted was both competitive with no hidden fees and all expectations were met. All our items were picked up and delivered with care handling, nothing damaged and in a timely fashion. Ive already shared their contact information with a few friends who are in the process of moving themselves. Dont search for too long, TDY is the go to!
