wanted to personally share my experience with Big Red this past week. I would have never been able to get through my freshman daughters move-in with such ease if it weren’t for Andro Zunic. I originally shipped (ground Fed-Ex) 4 boxes and one large duffle bag from CT to Big Red. Unfortunately, when Fed Ex came to our home to pick up the 5 pieces, they only had 4 call tags. I was told, that when the boxes got to the first Fed Ex hub, they would take 2 boxes and place them in one larger box, thus the 4 call tags. Long story short, after about a week of only being able to identify that 3 boxes arrived to Ithica, I called Andro for some advice. He offered to “take over” by contacting fed ex and trying to figure out what happened to my other box. He and I spent a considerable amount of time on the phone (I was very worried that my daughter’s stuff was lost). At some point, he realized that the extremely large box that had arrived, was probably too large for just the two boxes that we thought may be housed in the one box. After opening the box, which was extremely distressed, he found all the items dumped in- clothes, towels, shoes, etc, in no particular order. It was a mess!! Andro asked that I send a detailed list of all the items that I believed to be in the 3 unidentified boxes , and he and his team went through it, item by item to take inventory. He then offered to repack the items in 3 more manageable boxes. Fortunately, everything was accounted for. Some reason, along the way, fed ex chose to open up 3 boxes and dump them into the one, with no record or trace. Andro far exceeded what I would expect in customer service. This young man showed maturity and confidence in dealing with a “not-so-happy” customer without ever losing patience. He even contacted me to assure me that he was going to take care of it and to “please don’t lose any sleep over it”. He deserves to be recognized for handling what could have been a very messy situation. Thank you to Andro and your team for your wonderful service and professionalism. I look forward to using your services for my daughters’ next 4 years at Cornell.

I had used BRSS several times as a Cornell student with no major problems. I remember that one of my roommates boxes was absent for about a week, but that was the worst--until my experience this fall. I stored my belongings over the summer, while I was traveling after graduation, and then scheduled it to be shipped to my new address in another state. I checked with them in May to make sure I could do this, and they said it would be fine if I made the shipping appointment over the summer. A week after the shipment was supposed to be sent (late August) I had received neither my boxes nor any notification of any sort; I contacted them via the link in their website (because no one would answer the phone). After several emails, I finally got a response, which was admittedly professional and apologetic: they said they had accidentally overlooked my request and would send out the shipment in several days, after the labor day weekend. Another week later, I still hadnt heard anything. I emailed them again, multiple times again, and finally received a response saying that they had, indeed, processed the shipment. In another week--nearly three weeks after my initial request for shipment--I finally received my boxes. One of them (a plastic tub) was broken, though Im not sure whether that was because of BRSS or FedEx. TL;DR: I paid $500, I had to wait three weeks to receive my shipped goods, I had to contact them several times to get any response on several occasions, and one of my boxes was damaged. I understand that they have a huge volume of goods to process, that they are a student-run company, and that there arent many viable alternatives in Ithaca. Nonetheless, I was completely disenchanted with my experience, and Im thankful I no longer have to rely on their services.

I had a pretty good experience with this company. I graduated last year and decided last minute that I would need to store half my things from my apartment over the summer. I was able to make an account on their website pretty easily and schedule a pickup appointment for the following day. Appointments are scheduled in 2-hour intervals, so you might have to be patient as they could possibly arrive toward the end of that interval as they did with me. The rates are a definitely a little on the higher end, however I personally think they made up for it with their convenient service and reliability. I say they are reliable because I didnt know if they would be able to ship my things on time out to my new residence in the city. However, after telling them that exact date I wanted my things delivered on, they were able to send me a tracking number for the shipment the very next day. Fortunately, everything did come in one piece, which I was grateful for after seeing that picture of the crushed box on this review page. Overall, despite their higher rates, I found their service to be more than satisfactory. So, if you need a place to store your things and you can spare the money I would, without a doubt, recommend this company.

BRSS provides an efficient service most of the time. I used it several times over my first two years at Cornell. It would be much cheaper, if you have access to transportation, to rent a storage locker or ship your belongings yourself, but the full service method is much more convenient. I personally have never had anything be damaged or mistreated, your results may vary. When it all goes wrong, however, it *really* falls apart. During the Fall 2010 semester, they had both of their trucks suffer failures of some kind. Naturally this destroyed their scheduled delivery times. Rather than giving reasonable notice of the situation, they completely failed to make any attempt to contact me via phone or email. I called them at least ten times in the two days following my delivery appointment. The handful of calls that didnt go straight to voicemail were answered by clueless student employees who either gave meaningless platitudes or complete misinformation. No real explanations. It took a very angry email directly to the student in charge of the operation to finally get a response At least he offered a partial refund, and got my things delivered at around 11 PM that night.

I recently booked an appointment with Big Red Shipping to pick-up my items on Monday for a Wednesday pick-up. No reply to my online appointment or my phone calls so I went to them in person. Gave two numbers, mine and my roommates, and address. Missed my appointment with no call or email and wasted two hours of my roommates time. Tried to re-book to a Saturday pick-up and appointment was confirmed. Again, no-show. Emailed them to cancel my appointment with them and received no reply. No email to apologize for the incident or anything. Very rude communication from beginning to end. Went with another storage company and had a 10x better experience. Showed-up 10 minutes early, sent texts/emails before they came, very responsive. Used to love using BRS and experienced great service in the past, but will never use it again.

This storage company is one of the absolute worst. They overcharged me $300, lost 4 boxes, and when I received all my storage almost two months later, all my boxes marked "fragile" had been torn in half and repackaged using partially assembled boxes and masking tape. All my dishes, glasses, nail polish, and literally anything else I owned that could be broken was shattered, and those poorly reassembled boxes were full of glass so crushed it was dust. Only after another month did they refund me $300 of the $1200 I paid to ship and store my personal belongings...and I only moved from Ithaca to NYC. I literally wouldve been better off throwing all my stuff away instead of paying this terrible company for destroying it.
