I had a horrible experience with this shop. We enlisted this shop to sell our Volvo wagon on consignment, thinking that they would be a reputable establishment that would sell it quickly. Mats told us he would advertise it in several papers and get us a quick sale. It then sat on their lot for six months without so much as a phone cat from him. At this point I decided to look through all of the local classifieds to see if the car was even advertised, and it was nowhere to be found. This seemed odd, and I decided to get the car back from him since I could have sold it myself in six months. When we arrived there were numerous things that I found very suspicious: -the car was sitting in a back corner not in view from the street, front parking lot, or the front of the shop area, and was covered in dust -it had a dusty smell inside and the battery had to be jump started, indicating that it had not moved in months -the front tires were switched around and put on backwards. why Mats touched my tires I do not know, as the car did not need any service at all when I left it there and I never authorized him to do any work on the car -the lift struts that hold the back hatch open were completely shot and would not hold the door up anymore. they worked perfectly when I left the car there. After getting the car back I soon had numerous problems with it such as it running rough, and when taken to another Volvo shop it needed many sensors replaced, as well as the brakes a couple months later, which were nearly new when I left the car with Mats. All of this leads me to believe that S&V by Mats was stealing parts off my car to repair other customers vehicles with, and putting the old worn out parts back on my Volvo. Unfortunately I have no way to prove this, but I will NEVER, EVER go back to this place nor would I recommend it to my worst enemy. The other review is right, this guy is a CROOK.

@ Vlad- I was never offered a warranty, and the Volvo I purchased was a white one, a 1997, purchased from you (I spoke with you personally and a younger guy named Alex). I DID bring it in to you, directly after I purchased it and was NOT offered the option of you buying it back, but instead had to pay MORE to get it "fixed." Only then was I told that it was one the previous owner had left and that you hadnt even LOOKED at it! Then, after diagnosis, you played it off like I was getting a great deal only paying $500 more for the work that needed to be done, but lets face it, I was assured it was a good car when I bought it, and it wasnt. After the heater core was replaced and the radiator resealed it was supposed to be all better. Unfortunately, the radiator was not sealed correctly when you did it or the sealant type doesnt work well with the cold because it still leaked. Plus, she burned oil like a fiend! I had to add around 2 quarts a month! After all that, and getting it looked into elsewhere and finding out it had more problems than I could afford to fix, why would I have wanted to come back to you again?! ~ Mandy @ Placebo - Just because your experience was great does not mean that everyones is. Thats the whole point of a review. I left a "horrible review" because that was my experience and felt like I completely got the shaft when I thought they were a good business based on the reviews I had read. It really all comes down to "buyer beware," no matter how good a business sounds.

I have a 2001 Saab 9-3 SE that I formerly took to Atomic Auto. There is nothing wrong with Atomic Auto, as they have always been the premiere Saab shop in town when asking around; Saab and Volvo repair is simply better. I began coming here a few years ago when I had an expensive repair to make. I called around town and Vlad quoted me at significantly less than what I had been hearing around town. Not only was he cheaper, but the work he does has never been an issue; everything he fixes stays fixed. Just a few weeks ago my car broke down on the way to work on the side of hwy 26 on my way to work. Had the car towed to Vlad to take a look; he found a hose that had come unplugged, popped it back in, and refused to take any form of payment from me. They say that one of the hardest things to find is a good, honest mechanic; Vlad is readily available. Quick, courteous, consistent, quality, AND always cheaper than anyone else. Vlad is a lifesaver.

I moved back to Portland from San Francisco this past July, and brought in my 99 Saab 9-3 SE automatic in for some basic tuning. Not only did they charge me almost half of what their competitors bid over at Gary Small Saab, Everett Auto Works, and Atomic Auto, but they topped off my fluids, replaced a window regulator, and reprogrammed my key remote all at almost no charge. I was thoroughly impressed with Vlad and cos efficiency and professional service, and long as I stay in the Portland and greater area, I will be making an effort to always return to Vlad and Saab and Volvo for my repairs and servicing. When it comes to Saabs, Volvos, and Subarus, I say these guys are the best for their price and customer service in all of the Portland area. I have been raving to my family and friends for already 3 months, I figured it was time for the world to know.. Rock on guys.

I find it hard to imagine anyone having a bad time with Saab and Volvo. Been going to them for a year now (with my first Volvo), and have been treated with what I would call "service of respect". Main mech. Vladimir k. has alllways given me great repair options at various cost levels (adjusting repair cost to my financial standings) for performance and economys sake. This level of service and integrity is VERY hard to get these days for fair price. I wont point fingers, but repair costs at adjacent shops are almost at a monopoly on foreign service by comparison. Ill be sticking with Saab and Volvo repair as long as they are in business. S&V Haters are probably just negging for spite, how childish.

My engine died on my Volvo C 70, my mechanic wanted $3890 to replace engine and Vladamir at Saab Volvo did it for $2200, and it was a newer engine with less miles!!! I showed him the items that my old mechanic recommended to be done, he looked at the list, and said he could do all for less than half of the bid I had!!! Someone broke my electric antenna, Vladamir did it for $60, my old mechanic charged me $240!!! I drive by and often see Vladamir working until 9pm. I have gone in to have coolant topped off, lights replaced, all at NO CHARGE, I HAVE NEVER HAD THAT HAPPEN FROM PREVIOUS MECHANICS!!! I send every one I know to him, he is so honest, and works on all cars!!!

NEVER GO TO SAAB AND VOLVO BY MATS!!! THEY ARE CRIMINALS!!! i bought my 1993 saab 9000 from this place for $3000 and within two months i had a heater core melt down. When i took the car into Mats they said that they didnt remember selling me the car two months earlier. i had to threaten them with a lawsuit before they were willing to do the work that was needed and cover the majority of costs with the six month warrenty i was given. however, the repair still took over TWO WEEKS, cost me $1500 after the warrenty, and the car broke down three days after i got it back with heater core related problems. NEVER GO TO SAAB AND VOLVO BY MATS!!! THEY ARE CRIMINALS!!!
