In Feb. 2011, I contacted Roof Life to have them to a moss treatment on my roof. I noticed them working on a neighbors roof, and I also contacted a brother-in-law who has been in roofing all of his working life. He assured me Roof Life was a reputable business. My understanding at the time was that my roof would be moss free for five years (although they now tell me that the warrantee is only three years for composition roofs, only shake roofs get a 5 year warrantee) At any rate, they did the service. I was a bit surprised a year later when they told me that the warrantee was only good if I employed them yearly to clean my roof and gutters (at about double the price I had been paying an individual). However, in order to protect my warrantee and my roof, I did employ them to clean my roof. They would call me each Feb. to schedule a cleaning. This year, I noticed they did not call in Feb., so I called them in early March to schedule a cleaning. The cleaners told me that I had substantial moss build-up, and that I should have the roof retreated. When I called Roof Life, the first person I talked to said she was new and didnt know how to handle the warrantee claim, but said the manager would call me back that afternoon (March 14.). No call, so I called again the next day, got an answering service, and was told I would get a call on Monday. I did get a call from Melissa (not the manager); she informed me that my contract warrantee ran out in Feb. When I asked why they had not called me as usual in Feb. she said they were no longer doing roof maintenance in my area of town, so they let warantees run out and hen discontinued service in my area. When I asked further if they (since they were not honoring their warrantee) would at least discount a re-moss treatment. No, she replied, and that they no longer did any roof maintenance in my part of town, only "closer to home". Beware employing this company; at the very least they do no honor the spirit of contracts entered, and appear to intentionally fudge in order to (barely) honor the letter. I would never deal with this company again, and I intend to warn my brother-in-law about recommending them to anyone else.

We wanted to get the moss off of our roof so called Roof Life. The quote was, 2 guys five hours, and we were told they wouldnt use a pressure washer because it was not ideal for composite roofs, and they would clean our driveway and entryway. The day the workers came, they power-washed half of the roof, and the driveway in 90 minutes, and then stopped because their machine overheated. The pressure washer took lots of stones out of the exposed aggregate driveway, and left a big hole in our driveway - who knows what they did to our roof which we cant see up close. When we called to complain, we had to call three times before anyone would call us back. Then, Patrick Morin said, "I only told them to clean half of the roof." During his quote he completely missed a huge section of moss on the back of our house. The project manager, said they would call before workers came back to clean the other half of the roof, no call came. They didnt even tell us what time of day they would come. They said they would leave us a compound to help fix the holes they made in the driveway. They showed up and cleaned a corner of the roof, but we were told the work order said, "max one hour." The moss is still very visible, and they did not leave us the product so we could fix our driveway ourselves, not trusting their poor workmanship. Everyone, from the receptionist to Patrick Morin, are incapable of listening and very good at being condescending. Just horrible customer service! Save yourself a lot of hassle, and dont call Roof Life of Oregon.

My experience with Roof Life was equally disappointing as Mollys. We had them over to fix a patch of shingles and do general maintenance (cost us $850). They told us no pressure washers would be used and yet they pressure washed the entire roof, patio and sides of the house. Plants were knocked out and left on the dirt. Paint was chipped off the garage and we ended up with water in our always dry basement. They flooded the yard with water and blew water in through a closed window onto our desk. The roof was treated with anti-moss treatment which left a white discoloration we were told would wash away. A year later it is still visible. Shingles were blown off our roof and found in bushes throughout the yard, which they claimed were probably from our neighbors house (blown in by the wind I suppose). They gave me the runaround and handed me off to various representatives and did nothing to fix the situation. And to make it worse, this year in nearly the same location more tiles blew off our roof. They were supposedly checking the roof for potential failures and fixing them, which they did not and now they say that the new damage is not covered by our "warranty". I feel like we bought a used car from a sleezy salesman. Steer Clear!

Ive owned 2 roofing and pressure washing/roof treating businesses over the years. At best, they are a difficult business to run, let alone do well. At worst, they are impossible. Before I sold the last home maintenance business (Rain City, still doing business in Vancouver, Washington), I referred my clients to Roof Life of Oregon. For good reason. I met Pat Morin. And some of his associates. These guys knew more about how to make a roof last for ages, how to keep it looking and working like new, and how to do it within the clients budget, than anyone in the industry. If you look at Roof Lifes work in Lake Oswego, West Hills, Council Crest, Nob Hill... in areas where people have valuable homes that demand excellent repair and process, its clear these are the guys. When you see a job they did in a quality neighborhood, you can always tell. Not just pretty, but the attention to detail is obvious, if you know roofing, and especially cedar shake roofing. Doing it right is not for the faint of heart. My experience and client feedback has always been good. Whats more, Pat Morin is a truly upstanding guy. You cant be in this business as long as he has unless you do it right.

I found Roof Life 10 years ago for the first treatment on our 15 year old shake roof. This years treatment marks the 3rd time weve used Roof Life. Their treatment works, and the company has never been anything but low-pressure, conscientious, and thorough in their work and estimates. Its interesting to note how our neighborhood has changed in those 15 years; most houses power washed or ignored their shake roofs, and have had their shakes replaced with asphalt shingles in the last 2 years. Were one of the few who went with Roof Lifes treatments, and our roof has still got another 15-20 years of life left in it. With zero roof treatment stink. Roof treatment requires calm winds and not-too-wet roofs, so its typical for application schedules to change. This years weird weather hasnt helped, and by the looks of a couple of reviews this has created some customer frustration. In our most recent application, it took 3 tries over 2 weeks to get the right conditions to complete our treatment, but Roof Life kept us appraised of the situation. Roof Life has grown substantially over the last 10 years weve been a customer. Theres a reason for that.
