Do not use this company! Been 18 months and i still have not received any payment on damaged and "misplaced" items. They damaged pretty much every piece of furniture i own...including knocking off entire pieces of the bottom of my grandmothers china hutch, chipped glass from a curio cabinet, tore my couch and stripped the legs, deep scratches in all my bedroom furniture. They lost an entire coffee table base...i only ended up with the glass to it. Lots of good that does. They failed to put all my furniture back together, as my contract stated. I had to hire a handy man to do it. There are two boxes of items that never showed up to this day. They also hired day laborers to unload at my location. I was guaranteed "professional movers" in my contract and that is not what was provided for delivery when they got to my home in a new state. Per our conversation and contact, they were to engage a local moving company. They instead had the driver post on fb to a day laborer group to get help. None of the 3 that helped with my unload were "professional movers". They were in other fields or between jobs and looking to earn some cash. I was a single woman having multiple men in my home who they had zero information and had not vetted at all. This is not only an unprofessional way to conduct business, this is unsafe to the paying customers. These men told me themselves they were day laborers and they were "only working so hard" and would never work with that particular driver again if he posted. To add to my safety issues, the driver told all 3 of these men that i refused to tip and they were not getting a tip. I was confronted by all 3 as to why i was screwing them over and this created a very uncomfortable and dangerous situation as well. The worse part was, i DID give the driver a $500 tip and he was to disseminate to the others. He lied and pocketed the money and put me in a situation with upset men in my home. On top of all of this, they left items behind when loading that i had to give away or sell for pennies on the dollar just to get it moved. They also took personal moving blankets i had purchased to wrap my furniture because they saw them in a box in the garage. They then refused to leave them upon delivering claiming they were theirs. There was at least $100 worth of blankets they took. When trying to resolve the issues of the furniture not being assembled, damages, non professional movers, the driver trying to steal my phone charger, taking my blankets, and lying about a tip he pocketed, i was greeted with hostility and zero empathy. I was told I had to release my rights to give any kind of reviews to get a measly $300 settlement. Want to know why they dont have many negative reviews? That is why. They make you sign a release that you wont give a fair and honest review of their service if you want any money. They prohibit negative reviews if you want compensated. I chose to give fair and accurate reviews over $300. Trying to save others from this nightmare. To date, they have not paid up or provided information to their own claims company for me to file a claim. I have tried countless times to file and no one at the claims company will speak to me because they refuse to acknowledge the claim. They also lied on the BBB site when i reported them. The case was closed for the sole reason that i was on vacation and didnt reply in 5 days, which is apparently all the BBB gives you to respond to their nonsense and lies. They are all talk until you sign a contract and pay the deposit. Then they do nothing for you from that point on. Please do not give this company your business for any long distance moves. I personally wouldnt trust them with a move across the street. Again, 18 months later. Wont return emails, wont return calls, and wont process my claim. AVOID!

NO STARS!! The absolute worse business(for lack of a better word) in general. The owner, Hay is a fraud and so is "customer service" girl Cindy. Any positive reviews on this site I am sure are paid. The whole experience was awful. Cindy pretends to be caring and actually calls you in beginning but thats only to get your business. I never received a phone call with an update since the day my items were picked up. I escalated COUNTLESS(5 emails) of times to speak with a manager only to find out the whole time he was reading the emails just not responding. When I asked Cindy for the manager email she gave me the inquiry email from the website. My items sat in Dallas for 3 weeks from the time a delivery address was given. Then they eventually allowed my family to go and pick up the items still charging $600. When I asked for an itemized bill/receipt of that charges, she said it was for "labor". They are complete SCUMS, To be honest they never had the resources to make the move. They over promised and under delivered. When my family went to pick up the items the OWNER Hay, was sitting on my couch with his feet propped up. During the back and forth calls with the RUDE and very unprofessional Cindy, I was threatened and hung up on multiple times. Her exact words "I wish you would come here". The customer service was the worse I have ever experience and I threw away $600 on nothing. When my family got my furniture it was all scratched up which i knew it would be which is why I refused to pay them 2k to delivery it. Believe the reviews. And do your research. They are the last people you want to leave your items with during a move. Dont believe me, just take a visit to their storefront(again, for lack of better words).

I was looking for last minute movers after another company came to pick up my items and wanted to charge me 3 times more than their telephone quote. So I cancelled them and started to look for new movers. I had only 3 days to move my items out of the storage before I get charge for another month. I contacted few company and when I spoke with Diane (representative at 1st generation) I felt I should go with them. They came the next day, the movers were experienced and friendly. I had extra charge of $225 because they needed to pack few fragile items but overall they did a great job. They worked more than 4 hours to load my furniture’s and went straight to OK to deliver. Everything arrive in good shape, they put the beds back together. I was very relief to put this move behind me in such an easy way. So just to say 1st Generation Moving & Storage did a great job and I thank them.
