Like others posted here, got a quote from them, they charged $560 part only for their so called "NAPA certified" part for my Toyota and $800 for labor. I checked with Toyota of Richardson, they sell a much better, original Toyota, made in Japan, by Denso part for $328.00 plus tax, and include all necessary gaskets. Star Auto Steve said he didnt believe the price, so I got the part from Toyota, and an hour later, showed them in front of their face with the nice retail box and my receipt. Steve then changed his quote just printed 2 hours ago and increased the labor fees (not hours, but unit hour charge) to make it costs more for me to buy original real deal from Toyota ($1100 labor now). Frustrated, I had my car towed to another shop, shockingly the new shop told me the part in my car was not dead, just have rusted contacts, and missing screws (like the other poster here, Star purposely did that), and in 1 hour the new shop wrap it up and my car had been running smoothly for 9 months without any issue. I returned the part to Toyota, the new shop charges me only $68 plus tax. The money I spent most, is towing my car away from Star Auto for $125.00. Big mistake anyone wants to send his or her car there for repair. They want you to suck into their overpriced NAPA-inferior-made-in-crappy country parts, and charge you more for non-related expensive parts. They may be ok to just change oil or state inspection, but I wont even trust them now for more than one missing screws in just 8 posting here. And I am not surprised if those 5 star ratings here were faked ones coming from themselves.

I used to take my car here until my last visit. Had to have my brakes worked on & timing belt replaced. Was told a price 6 months ago for the timing belt and when I wanted to get everything done all at once they increased the quote by $300 for the belt replacement. I was told the brakes had a heat fracture and rotors needed to be replaced. If I do the work with them they use quality parts and guarantee both work & parts. I had new rotors put on 3 years ago & pads done 2 years ago by them. I did bring this to Corys attention (they had this info. on file too) but seemed dumbfounded on what to say. The quote was very high even with coupons. I took it to another shop for a quote and ended up using the new shop. After my car was taken care of by the new shop, I was told my rotors did not need to be replaced only turned. Plus told me of screws that were missing from brake pad replacement done prior, which was done by Star (the new shop seen what Star told me was a heat fracture but it was so small and minimal it would be a waste of money to replace the rotors, even said they could be turned 2 more times before replacement). I ended up saving over $500. Stars office area is very dirty and customer service is not to par. I had to wait to even be acknowledged/greeted until they stop doing whatever it is they are doing on the computer. I have looked past this before. I now realize how bad the customer service and cleanliness truly was after changing to a new shop. By the way, the new shop I go to now is Davis Automotive.

Finding a mechanic that you can trust to do the work right and charge you for the work completed and not extras... is not an easy task. But....THIS is the shop for you! I have been going to The Star Auto for about 5 years and have walked away with complete satisfaction that my car was taken care of without breaking my wallet. I have always been advised of the cars problems and costs before work began. And when big ticket items needed repair, Steve would come up with alternate ways to fixing the problem for less. I totally trust these guys with my car! Their Customer service is just as awesome. They have a complimentary Drop off/ Pick up service for times that I had to leave my car and were very flexible to accommodate my late work schedule. When you find a great Hairdresser- you never leave her. Its no different when you find a great Mechanic- You never leave him!

I went here for an auto inspection which failed, they told me that I can return for a re inspection at no charge. When was ready I called back & asked for a re inspection they asked me to come in. I drove 35mins to get there to find out that I had to pay again because my re inspection had expired. It would have been nice to be know that I would have to pay again before driving 35mins. My inspection needed a green sheet which could not have been done at the time, they went ahead and charged me for it & asked me to come back with the proper paperwork instead of getting payment once it was done. Desperate if you ask me, it was only $1 extra so I didnt care but it showed me how desperate this place was & would not trust them for an honest opinion when it comes to my car. I felt like I would be upsold if I brought my car back for other services.

Exceptional facility. Family owned. Father and son, very experienced and skilled. Really honest and helpful and fair costs. Will explain and offer suggestions of what may be needed now and what can be delayed and for how long. Good work correctly accomplished, cant be rushed. They have taken great care of my car and its 19 years old. I have been coming here for years. They offer Check Engine lite at -no charge-. Very fair and reasonable.

Was able to make an appointment to get my state inspection done. The staff member I interacted with was extremely nice and even suggested a tax office to go to (which saved me a ton of time today). They did my state inspection quickly and they were very accommodating. Would definitely recommend this place to others and would use them again for future vehicle needs!

There AMAZING people, very nice and friendly very good customer service they help you and answer any questions you have . I fixed my truck , my truck had a lot of issues now is been a month that is running like NEW. I really truly recommend to bring you car,truck,van any kind of car to The Star Auto (Napa) Mr. Miguel DOES a VERY GOOD JOB...
