I took my vehicle to this establishment under recommendation of Allstate and they were close in proximity to my current location. I had a lot of damage to front end due to hitting a deer. It took a while but they communicated well throughout the process. When I went to pick up car at first glance it was dirty, but otherwise seemed to be in good order. After I washed it I noticed some swirling in the wax due to not buffing it properly. They agreed to fix and said it does happen from time to time and even had a name for it, swriling i beleive it was called. When they returned to me after fixing the swirling I immediately noticed white paint spray (overspray) on my hood. The Atlas Body rep whom I was working with also noticed it and said he was sorry, that he did not see it at the shop because it was dark and that he would get it fix it right away. He returned the next day and said that he could not fix because the thousands of little white speckles were in fact rock chips and that they were there before I dropped it off. I refused to accept their denial of responsibility and I refused acceptance of vehicle instead I instructed them to fix it and have it brought back to me. Two days later I went to pick up vehicle and have now been assigned to work with the Body Shop GM who again tells me they are from rocks (Explorer only has 63k miles on it). I show him several locations that could not possibly from rocks. He agrees and asks me why those bother me when others that are from rocks do not... Really?? He then offers me a "brother in law" rate on painting the hood. Needless to say they had several opportunities to fix their shoddy work and failed to do so. Instead of owning up to their misdeed they chose not to. I verified with a Ford Dealership as well as an Allstate representative that these are in fact white spot from paint and not from rock chips. I would like to point out that Allstate was great to work with and gave me a cash settlement for the overspray damage done to my vehicle by Atlas Body shop. I am not sure why they did not accept responsibility for what is obviously their shoddy workmanship. By all accounts it looks to be a reputable organization that has been open for over 60 years. The work they did on my car, other than the swirling and overspray, was spot on. If you choose to go here, take pictures of your car first and watch for spots on your paint. You will probably have better luck than I did.

Update: Richard made sure my car was ready to go a day ahead of schedule. He listened to my concerns and made sure that the car was repaired, painted and washed and cleaned even on THURSDAY, not Friday, and not a two week process. Excellent work and really stepped it up on customer service. Thanks to Alice, a real gem working the front office at Atlas. That woman knows her job and ROCKS it every day! Note on my first day with Atlas with work in progress. When first referred to Atlas by my insurance company, they were friendly, welcoming, helpful and ready to work. My understanding from Alice was that parts were ordered on Friday so they would be ready to go to work today. Now that Ive brought my Nissan back to them to do the work, excellent intake service, took care of following up with rental, got me in and out in time to finish up with rental company and get to work by 9. About noon time, I find out first, the work is ahead of schedule and going well. Then the next sentence was, it will take us another week to finish the job depending on how fast the paint dries and anything else they find. Maybe finish finding stuff that needs work first, then paint so there is no re-work involved. Scratches, fender damage and new light, originally estimated as one week, now at two. So frustrating, no real commitment on when exactly the job will be done. So now, stuck in a rental for two weeks, while they make up their minds as to when/if my car will or will not be ready. Friendly people, seem willing and eager to help. So far, the verbal service has been great over all, not happy the flip flopping on when/if the car will be ready within a week as originally promised. Accident wasnt even my fault, yet due to frustration and slow movement of my claim to subrogation and possible litigation, im stuck for the moment. My hope is that the HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Atlas Body Shop steps up and gets my care finished by Friday, June 6th with quality work. Rating a 3 for now, but could improve. Love that they are welcoming, friendly and very hospitable up front, now lets see the work get done on time for the rating to change to 5.

A great group of people who do quality work. While we were driving through San Antonio on a trip out to west Texas, a guy ran a light and crashed into my not even a year old Mazda3, leaving it un-drivable and stuck four hours away from my home. Since I am not from San Antonio, I had no idea where to get it fixed but both the policeman and the tow truck driver recommended Atlas as the best place in town. I was completely satisfied with the staff at Atlas and their work. On the day of the accident, Atlas actually kept their office open for an extra hour and a half so we could go to the rental car company before they closed and could continue on our vacation. Then they helped to coordinate with the insurance company and sent daily updates through text messages so we didnt have to worry on our trip. Additionally, they worked hard to finish the car before a weekend so it was easier for me to go back to San Antonio to pick it up. They even test drove it on the highways for me beforehand to make sure there wouldnt be any hidden problems on my trip home. The repair work was also excellent. The crash destroyed one of the headlights and several panels and damaged some equipment under the hood but now I cant even tell that it was damaged. The alignment and electronics seem to work perfectly. Would highly recommended to anyone in the San Antonio area!

They told us it would take 3 weeks to get the new parts for the car and theyd call us to drop off the car. We waited, they called and we dropped the car. I asked for a timeframe and they told me 7-10 business days. It took a whole month to get our car. When we called they would put us in hold for over 10 mins and then get disconnected. The mechanic in charge of our car was always in meetings and thy would never called back, and when they did would take the call they would say: tomorrow, and so on. Always giving excuses and always saying it will be ready tomorrow. Do not make business with this body shop. Awful customer service

This is the worst example of providing a service that I have ever seen. I know a thing or two about service since I have served my country 14 years. It took me 3 days to get a status update. A status update. Mr. Gilbert says hell call back to let me know if my car will be ready, but doesnt call until Im on my way. He calls to tell me the technicians are gone. I should have received a call saying they were leaving or gone. Without customers an organization cannot provide a service. I hope this resonates throufh out that business. If not the BBB complaint should. Unsatisfactory customer service. San Antonio Current
