My family and I recently experienced the misfortune of working with John W. Hansen & Associates Real Estate. John W. Hansens realtor was dishonest about the home he represented from the very beginning of our dealings with him. He misrepresented the listing of the home. Both the MLS listing and the contract distinctly stated that the homes solar panels were NOT included in the sale of the house. After we made an offer to purchase the home, he told us that my wife and I could take over payments for the solar panels if we wanted, thereby keeping the solar panels on the home. We declined, and the realtor replied that the current residents (well call them the Smiths) would take the solar panels with them when they moved out. Unfortunately, the manufacturer of the solar panels (Mosaic®) never agreed to allow the Smiths to do anything of the sort. Mosaic® requires all loans to be paid in full before they will remove solar panels from any home. The realtor failed to tell us that. Instead, he misled us, stating, "Mosaic® will not remove the solar panels because they do not want to cause structural damage to the roof." The Smiths still owed ~$36k for the solar panels. The realtor told us that he was in negotiations with Mosaic® to see if they would agree to settle for a reduced cost. The realtor claimed that he was sacrificing his commission from the sale of the home (~$8k), that the Smiths would contribute the equity they had in the home (~$8k), and that the Smiths would also be taking out a personal loan for $10k. He then asked my wife and me to contribute $3.5k of our own money to help bring the total up to $29k – the price that the realtor claimed Mosaic® would settle for. By this time, my wife and I had closed on the sale of our own home. Time was of the essence, so we agreed to pay the $3.5k to fix a problem we never created. My wife and I signed all the documents to close on the Smiths residence, as agreed, on Wednesday, December 28, 2016. The realtor and the Smiths never showed up to do the same, despite the fact that they were under contract to do so. My wife and I packed all of our belongings into a U-Haul® truck on Friday, December 30, 2016. We were told that Mosaic® would be appeased by the $29k settlement, and that we would be allowed to move our belongings to our new home on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Four days of a rental truck is roughly equal in cost to a month of renting a storage shed, so we elected to leave our belongings in the U-Haul® truck until Tuesday, January 3. In the meantime, my wife and I rented housing. It was later revealed that the realtor never attempted to settle with Mosaic® for $29k. Instead, he had been trying to settle for $8k all along (the Smiths equity in the home) in an effort to salvage his own $8k of commission. My family and I were forced to live out of a U-Haul® truck for more than a week. Our rate-lock (for which we paid $550) expired, at no fault of our own. John W. Hansen & Associates Real Estate did nothing to intervene. The realtor perpetually ignored requests for accurate information - we have many emails that the realtor sent to our agent to back up this complaint. The Smiths residence was first listed more than six months prior, and my wife and I had been under contract for five weeks. There had been more than ample time for the realtor to do his due diligence with Mosaic®; instead, he waited until the last couple of weeks prior to closing. He then repeatedly tried to strong-arm my wife and me into taking over a $36k debt during the first few weeks we were under contract. He continually requested that we take over the solar panels, despite the fact that we had repeatedly said we were not interested.

Marc J. Hansen was such a trusting partner to work with. "Partner" is a deliberate descriptor that I use because Marc willingly worked side-by-side with my wife and I - never condescendingly above us - until we found the house of our dreams. After Marc quickly sold our home, we had not quite found the perfect home for our family - but Marc never rushed us through the buying process or coerced us into buying a home that we were not fully satisfied with. He never questioned our decision-making when we pulled out of offers while doing our due diligence, and actually lauded our prayerful and methodical approach to finding the right home. After LITERALLY showing us through 100+ homes, Marc was able to knock it out of the park and negotiate us into our dream home - a home that I would have initially thought was out of our league, but through Marcs help, was suddenly in our ballpark. Marc is friendly, affable, and trustworthy. In a market driven by shady and seedy dudes without scruples, Marc is the superhero agent that I strongly recommend to save them from real estate disaster. Through Marcs knowledge and expertise, I not only renewed my faith in the real estate market, but I gained a lifelong friend in the process.

Marc Hansen is an incredible realtor. He listened to what we were looking for and was able to match us up with a perfect home. The home we bought was one of the first ones he showed us. Even after we found the house we eventually bought, he was happy to show us as many properties as we wanted to see. He was always on time or early to each appointment. He pointed out positive and negative things at each home for us to consider which was very useful since we were first time home buyers. Marc is very fun to be around and made the whole experience very enjoyable, even signing all the documents! As long as we live in the area, we will never use another realtor besides Marc. If you cant decide what realtor to go with, just go with Marc, you wont be disappointed.

My wife and I had the opportunity to work closely with Marc during our selling process. Originally, we didnt want to pay commission fees. However, after working with Marc through the process, it was well worth the money. He was able to work with the buyers agent and get us the best deal possible. Both the buyer and myself came out just where we wanted in the end. Marc was honest and didnt have his best interest in mind. If you are looking for an agent that will work hard, be honest, and play fair, Marc is your guy. Take a drive around, youll see his name on most of the homes listed, theres a reason for that! He has mastered his profession and is willing to share his skill set!

Marc at John W. Hansen provided me with a great home purchasing experience, even though it took a while to find a home in my price range in this seller market he didnt let it get me down and kept searching for me. Marc was quick to respond to my messages on homes. He caught things that werent perfect and needed fixing in the house I bought, and that saved me money on the deal. Ive bought two houses and When its time to purchase another Ill be sure to call up Marc. Great job Marc and thank you so very much.
