UPDATE: So my car was making some weird noises again after 2 weeks since I last took it in to Excel. They had me in within 2 hours of me calling to make the appointment! They looked over my engine and saw the oil was burning fast and gave me recommendations to refill and check it (Im not a car person). Within 2 minutes of me leaving, they called me and let me know they saw oil leaking, so I took it back. They identified the issue and ordered a new cap ($30). Within 20 minutes they replaced the part (15 minutes was waiting for the piece to arrive from a local autoparts store). Steve was super helpful and was a pleasure to chat with while we waited for the piece to come in. I wish Excel was located back in AZ where Im from because theyre excellent! This is the first time Ive taken my car here and Im very satisfied. I just took it in for a routine check up and they said it would take 45 minutes to diagnose any issues, but they got back to me in 20 minutes. My appointment was set for 9am and they had the car in the shop by 9:05am. I also told them I wanted to rotate my tires but they said that it wasnt necessary because of the good shape my tires were in (they couldve easily just taken my money). The guy at the front desk was helpful too. Great first impression so I will definitely take my car here again!

This is is the first review I have ever written, but I felt compelled: I went in with a rough idling truck. The mechanic literally ran into the waiting room from the auto-bay to greet me. Hooked my car up to the computer, told me that it was an issue with the catalytic converter, which wouldnt cause rough idling. Then he started the vehicle up and said there was an exhaust leak and between that and the converter, I was looking at $1000 before my registration was due in a few months. He told me he didnt know what to say, but that between the mileage and the future costs, he would suggest driving it for the next few months, hoping that it continues to run okay, then figuring something else out before I start sinking money into a truck thats not worth much. For not knowing what to say, what he said was practical, informed, felt honest and was extremely valuable to me and my future plans and expenditures. He said, sorry and ran back into the shop. In the future, I will be taking my next vehicle to Excel and recommending anybody who needs a mechanic to do the same.

I wish I could give a 5 star review however I am extremely disappointed with the price these guys charged. I have a 2003 Saturn ion. The alternator went out on me on my way to get my kids after work last Thursday. I was concerned there was possibly an electrical issue because of the way the car would just shut down in the middle of driving and would make an unusual clicking sound. Ive taken my car to these guys before and was very satisfied with the whole experience therefore of course took my car to them to be repaired again. Only to be ripped off and charged $329 for the alternator and $150 for labor. $329 is just RIDICULOUS for an alternator and honestly its not right! When confronted kip said "well you could get a cheap one and have to replace it in 6 months" he knows just as well as I do that is way overpriced. Ive priced alternators and the most expensive one wasnt over $180. I will never do business with these guys again which is unfortunate because I really trusted them.

I only wish Id found this place sooner. Ive taken my car here three times now, and each time theyve been great to work with. Theyre quick to get you in, they thoroughly discuss everything before they do it, theyre prices are reasonable, and theyre the most honest mechanics Ive worked with. I once went in for a brake change and they informed me that I could go three more months before needing them replaced. This time I went in for four new tires, new brakes, an oil change, and a multi-point inspection before I drive 1,600 miles next month. They did an incredible job and assured me that my car is ready for the cross-country trek. They called to discuss prices and everything before they started, and really went the extra mile to get everything done. They also detail everything on the invoice before you pay. My only complaint is that they wont be in Michigan when I move there! Id definitely recommend Excel to anyone, and often do.

Excel is seriously one of the best, most honest car repair shops I have found. I had a specific mechanic I used in Orem for my entire life (my parents used them, etc) but after I moved to the Salt Lake Valley it just wasnt feasible to drive to Orem to get my car serviced. Thankfully I found Excel. They go above and beyond to make sure my car is running the way it needs to. They are honest and affordable and frankly just really good at what they do. Rich, one of the owners, is just awesome- my car was a mess and he took the time to look it all over and tell me what needed to be done now, what would need to be done soon, and what I could put off and still be safe at little cost to me. They are not out to make a quick buck- they want me to be safe and happy with my car. I would recommend this place to EVERYONE I KNOW!

Recently moved to the Salt Lake area. I took my 95 Tacoma here when it started acting up here based on the google reviews, noticed a sign posted that gives you $10 for a good review in here but gave it a shot anyway. The mechanic that worked on my pickup was fast and helpful especially since at first he was worried he might not be able to diagnose it due to the year it is. My issue was fixed in less than a day and when I brought it back a couple days later with another issue, I could tell he took great pride in his work as he was concerned I had questioned his work on it and made every effort to fix the small issue we had missed before. The mechanic even did the work to fix the issue for free which was an amazing plus as I was worried I would have to put more money into my old pickup. Will definitely recommend to anyone!

LOVE these guys! Ever since I started driving 20years ago, Ive been skeptical of every dealership I dealt with. Coincidentally something would always go wrong after a repair, or the cost of repairs would be astronomical. That all changed when I got a Saturn and started dealing with the Saturn Dealerships. Always honest, always dependable, always reasonable. It was a sad day when they closed down. Fast forward to a couple years ago with Excel was started up. They have a few of the guys from the Saturn Dealership working over there. I walked in and they remembered me and my car (in addition to my Father and his cars). As always, they were quick, honest, and reliable. Its not everyday you can leave a dealership and actually feel good about their work.
