I had a similar exp with the other poster who left one star review here. The owner is pleasant and nice, but their service is very ineffective, and they will overcharge you. I brought in my car for a simple few services. "They assumed what the cause was and replaced the part." Then, they called me that didnt fix the problem and that they now knew what the real problem was. Well, I got charged for the time they spent to replace the non-broken part and for the new part. In the end, they charged me $1,500!!! I later did some research and consulted with a few other autoshops, and they all agreed that I got way overcharged for what the actual service entailed. Whats worse, I brought my car to them to diagnose another problem around the same time. Well, they failed to diagnose the problem again and ended up replacing something else, which didnt fix the problem. This time, I refuse to pay for it. It honestly took them two or three different visits to diagnose the true problem, which I could have done myself better by just looking it up on youtube (I say this because I actually ended up doing this because I really didnt trust them at this point). And, guess what? They told me what they assumed the problem was (or, maybe they knew they were lying), and they said it would cost me another $1,500!!! I have done quite a bit of research afterwards, and like I said I followed DIY video on youtube and found out that the problem WAS NOT what they told me and that it did not cost $1,500 to fix it (I could fix it for only a couple of hundred dollars). Be warned. This place is either utterly incompetent or dishonest in their business practice. Either way, they will try to charge you more than necessary. Im never letter them touch my car again.

When ownership changed, I wondered if the same dedication to quality work would remain. This concern was heightened when a routine maintenance step was recently missed on my daughters car. This week, while checking my car in for scheduled service, I purposely commented about this mistake when I knew that Keith, the new owner, would hear my comment. Later, as I sat in the waiting room, Keith took the opportunity to talk with me. He was personally aware of the error made by the technician, took full responsibility, and was very approachable. He assured me that there had been no step down in dedication to doing quality work under his management. Most importantly, my maintenance visit this week revived my appreciation for the "total care" approach that I appreciate so much. In addition, Jeremy, the service writer took time to examine something that I wondered about and made a practical suggestion which the technician implemented to avert a future potential problem associated with damage from an accident that occurred prior to my purchase of this vehicle. Jeremy also brought out a damaged part that was being replaced and used it to explain why jiggling a connector had restored operation for a time, but it was not the connection that was at fault. I went away confident that the quality work which brought me to Certified Auto several years back has not changed. I am very relieved.

Ive been a customer of Certified Automotives for a couple years now, and Im quite happy. Their location is in a fairly ghetto industrial area with a small lot, but I chose them because they were AAA and ASE certified, had their certifications clearly displayed proudly in the lobby, and the lobby was clean and felt like they had "pride" in their shop. They are a bit higher priced than some other shops, but Im the kind that will pay a bit more to avoid the nightmares that can happen to you (and your wallet) at a dishonest shop. I feel this shop is honest- they could have taken the opportunity at times to tell me I needed things I didnt, but they chose to tell me honestly that I didnt need something or would be fine to wait some more time. I especially love their free "shuttle" service (a PT cruiser, actually!) anywhere in the valley- I can drop my car off, have them take me to work, and pick it up when Im done without having to take vacation time. Only downsides I could think of are time- they are a smaller shop that is very thorough, which of course means work takes a bit longer than speedy shops who just care about getting you in and out. I am a huge fan of Gene, who is so knowledgeable and friendly and started the shop when it began. Highly recommended for honesty. Just wanted to write a review and give a shout out! :)

I went to these guys at the recommendation of my friend (who is a really good home mechanic and very critical of shoddy or unethical service). The reason I took my car to them is I found out that the factory dealer misdiagnosed the repair (said I had a faulty battery and alternator). Well, I had just purchased the battery a few months before, and in order to try and get it replaced, I had to go back to Walmart and get it tested. It tested fine, so I took it to two more places (Autozone and Certified Auto) and they also confirmed it was fine. I went to the factory dealer, told them to give me my keys (and I wasnt going to pay for a diagnosis), and I towed my car down to Certified Automotive late in the day on a Friday. Certified had it fixed before closing time, and still beat the factory dealer quote by $100 (excluding the additional $120 the factory was going to charge me unnecessarily for a replacing a good battery). From now on Im going to go to Certified Auto first before I take anything to a factory dealership. The factory service techs arent all bad, but I wont ever pay a premium unless Im absolutely sure Im getting more for the money (more than just empty talk).

UPDATE: I just found out that in fact something was stolen out of my glove box. I kept my America the beautiful yearly national park pass in there with the hanger it comes with so i would never forget it on a trip to one of the parks. It is gone now. Stars dropped to one. Unfortunately I have to give these guys a low rating. I went in for a state inspection and emissions tests. There customer service is definitely 5 star. Extremely helpful, legitimate explanations of what was wrong with my car. What i dont appreciate is the fact that that their technicians went through my glove box, either to see if there was something to steal, or just to put their grimy paws on my stuff. I didnt notice until the next day when i opened my glove box and a bunch of stuff came tumbling out. I never put the several items i have in the box in that way, specifically for the reason that i will fall out when opened. I will not be returning for anything as a result.

Went to fix a grinding notice on the wheels.. They asked me to replace front wheel bearings on one side.. It didnt fix the issue. Then other side was replaced.. The problem was never resolved.. I just lost more than 1k.. -- I am just editing this post to reply back to your reply. your reply is partly true. First time your mechanic called me and told the issue was with wheel bearing since it is not able to hold the weight of the engine. I even asked him which side and he told passengers side. If you told me that u were not sure, i wouldnt have allowed you to replace it. Coz i already took it to 2 other places and they were not able to fix it. Second time u called me and told it didnt fix and told it may be the problem on other side and you are not sure. Thats when i asked you to replace that one as well.
