Doesnt even deserve a single star. I brought my car to these guys in February. They charge a $300 inspection fee just to tell you what is wrong with the vehicle. For that amount of money, you hand is pretty much forced. Regardless of whether you agree with their price, you are already into it $300. I was told that my rear axial seals had gone bad and I needed new bearings, breaks, and rotors. The repairs would cost $2300.00. After the repairs had been completed I picked up my car and drove home. A few days later, I notice oil pooling around the rear tires of my car. Oil is seeping out of the seals I was told had been replaced. I returned the car to them and they assured me they would find out what is wrong. A few days later and the car is returned to me. One week after I retrieve my car from AAMCO I notice oil is AGAIN pooling around my tires and my rear breaks are no longer working. I bring the car back to AAMCO and they assure me that they are going to get to the bottom of things. Three days later they call me and I pick up the car. Apparently you dont need to lubricate the bearings on my car. I guess they didnt know that and proceeded to fill the bearing housing with oil. Once again I have retrieved my car from AAMCO and yet again there is an issue with the repair. As I am driving to work there is a very loud humming noise and an alarming amount of vibration coming from the rear axial. I call AAMCO and again have to bring the car back for a re-re-re-repair. This is the fourth return trip to the shop. I drop the car off and they have it for 3 WEEKS! No news of what is going on with my car. Only that "they are working on it." Finally I get a response and they tell me that they never actually replaced the bearings that I had paid them to replace the first time. They are ordering the parts and I will have my car back in a couple of days. Great, I received my car on Monday and drive to work all week on it, until I begin to notice a smell of burning oil. A quick inspection of the rear differential reveals that oil seeping from the rear input shaft and it is whipping oil onto the undercarriage of the car. This includes the hot exhaust pipe. I hope my car doesnt catch fire while I am driving it. I will not be returning to AAMCO for a fifth time without legal representation. This is clearly a case of gross negligence and incompetence of their staff in quality control. DO NOT GET YOUR CAR WORKED ON BY THIS COMPANY!

The daily driver of my household was damaged by an extremely inexperienced mechanic at tire shop and I was absolutely anxious about getting the car fixed. I was in a total panic when I stumbled onto AAMCOs number. I called and they were able to get us in and run a diagnostic on the transmission within two hours. From that point forward the shop and its employees took amazing care of us that included storing the car, pulling the transmission in under half a day (majorly impressive feat), and even being hospitable enough to take the time to explain the damage to the original mechanics manager and re-explaining it to the third party claims guy. Once we gave the go ahead to fix and assemble everything back together they did it within two days and charged us an extremely low price for the parts and labor. As someone who has work as a tech in an auto shop before I could not believe that they were this fast and charged so little. One of the most striking thing for me was that I could alway call and they would kindly greet me, even after they had already done so much. I also have to speak to the integrity and honesty of everyone at AAMCO. I have only met one other mechanic in the valley who is as stand up as these guys. Not to mention the absolute savviness and ingenuity of these mechanics who were juggling multiple projects but never seemed to screw up. I am very protective of my car, right down to taking time off of work to do my own timing belt, but I now I have a place where I know that I will be taken care of and my wallet will not be advantage of.

About four years ago I had great technical and customer service at a fair price for an ignition system problem. This week I took my truck in with a clutch problem, and the whole deal turned into a customer service nightmare that still has me spinning. And yet in the end, Shawn the manager agreed that it was not a good thing, and he explained why it happened. I wont belabor the details here, but in the end the situation was rectified, and I left feeling confident that the repairs were technically proficient. So like years ago I drove away from this shop again with great technical and customer service at a fair price. The reason they can offer a fair price, is that they are good at what they do, and very efficient at it. A lot of vehicles go through this shop in a single day. I thought it was great that Shawn admitted his errors, and took care of to resolve the problems. I would go back to this shop again, and can recommend them to others. I suspect time my rating would be a full 5 stars.

Just wanted to give an update about the transmission that was put into my van over the summer. While on a road trip this summer i started having issues with being able to accelerate fast, and having a low top speed. Took it into this Aamco and was told i needed a new transmission. Spent 2300 dollars putting a new transmission in my car to drive back to Washington. 3 hours after leaving this shop the same problem kept occurring, and was able to find out that instead of the transmission causing the problem that it was instead a clogged fuel filter. So i ended up not needing a new transmission at all. UPDATE: the last month my car started shuttering and slamming and knocking when driving, i took it into a local trusted shop and they were able to find that the transmission had not been put in correctly and was actually loose and not secured properly and was not mounted correctly. WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH A AUTOMOTIVE COMPANY I COMPLETELY FEEL RIPPED OFF!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

My 2005 SAAB 92-x developed a severe vibration when turning at highway speeds, and a high-pitched scraping sound sometimes after descending from the mountains. After spending time and money with 2 other mechanics, one finally told me it was a transmission issue! Ready for repairs that may cost thousands, I called AAMCO and talked with Mike. He evaluated the car the following day, and assured me the transmission was fine. He also gave me his recommendations on what may be causing the vibration and noise, and where I might go for further evaluation. He then returned my car to me without charge! A day later, I took the car to one business he recommended to address the vibration. That business discovered a bad CV joint, and was able to replace it within an hour and a half. Problem #1 solved! Based on this recent experience, I can attest to the technical expertise and professional integrity of AAMCO Transmissions at 260 W 600 South in SLC.
