I bought a groupon for this shop to do a safety and emissions on a beast of a 78 Bronco I recently bought. It took some time and research to figure out exactly what had to be done to get the long since altered exhaust system the proper waivers and exceptions but they did so and have worked with me every step of the way. I do the lions share of my mechanic work myself so I will not use them as much as they deserve, but this is a shop I would send my mother to unescorted. I see that there is a negative review posted below, and these guys deserve to be defended. They CANNOT give an emissions pass to a vehicle that doesnt meet the minimum state requirements. The missing exhaust manifold bolt that caused the vehicle in question to fail is almost never a small thing. The nature of exhaust hardware duty causes components to rust; sometimes irrevocably. The components are always difficult to access and to do the drilling and removal/re-threading of broken bolts can require that the entire engine be removed. The shop would have rightly assumed that the bolt was broken off unless the car owner told them that work had been done on it Manifold bolts do not just back out. This case is exceptional. If this shop would have found that the repair only required screwing a bolt in they would have charged accordingly. If the poster had been using their head they would have returned after having fixed the problem if for no other reason than to gloat a bit and to not have to pay another shop to perform an emissions test. State radiator would have re-inspected it for no charge. Finally I want to point out that Im in no way affiliated with this business. Had it not been for the groupon Id have never known they existed. I just know good mechanics and good people when I meet them.

Ron and Dustin were both great to work with. While I was waiting in the shop for my work to get done I noticed that they were prompt in completing work, friendly, and easy to work with regardless of who came through the doors. The shop was small, but clean and comfortable to wait in. I also noticed that several times they told customers about other shops/stores where they could get materials or services needed, like a new windshield and removing tinting, that they didnt do. I needed a pre-purchase vehicle inspection and was worked in quickly. Their inspection paid attention to detail. After the inspection Dustin and the mechanic both took the time to really explain everything to me and answer all my questions. Later in the day I took a second vehicle in for another pre-purchase inspection. Again they were willing to fit me in to their busy schedule. Once again they did a detailed inspection and were willing to discuss in detail their findings. I asked for quotes on a few of the issues they found with the vehicles I was looking at and their prices seemed completely reasonable, right where they should be compared to what others quoted. I feel comfortable knowing that there is an honest mechanic who will take the time to fix my vehicles and explain things about my vehicles to me.

I would recommend State Auto to those who are looking for an automotive repair shop that will provide honest and reliable service for a fair price. (Less than dealership by about 25%) My 2007 Pathfinders transmission started to slip with just over 118,000 miles due to a well known issue (one i was unaware of before this time.) The dealership (Tim Dahle) was very reserved when I made inquiry as to what could be happening with my vehicle and I felt like they did not have my interests in mind. When I called State Automotive Dustin was incredibly knowledgeable about the issues plaguing Nissans of all makes and models. He provided several options and detailed the potential outcomes. He explained to me EXACTLY what had went wrong with the vehicle and even introduced me to the gentleman who was going to work on my car. Because the issues involve the transmission, cost was an issue for me. I opted to go with the "quicker fix" for now and begin saving for the bigger fix later - transmission replacement=(. State Automotive made the requested repairs and for now my car is running great. I am incredibly happy with this repair shop and I will trust them when the time comes to make the big fix.

Have a Landcruiser? Make sure that these gentlemen do the work!!! Dustin and crew straight up kill it! Quality work done with amazing customer service! I own an old 100 series cruiser and they have literally treated it and me like we are part of the family. Its an amazing feeling to leave your truck at a shop and know that the guys working on it are passionate, meticulous and honest in their methods. From simple things like replacing my alternator and aligning the front end, to more intensive projects like replacing the CV Axles and installing an OME lift kit on my cruiser; These guys have EARNED my business for many moons to come, and I know when you show up, theyll earn yours too. Id be remiss if I didnt mention their communication skills. All these guys have been so great about diagnosing issues, making an accurate quote on the work to be performed and following through with their word and their workmanship. The Dudes love what they do and love Landcruisers!

We have been using State Radiator for the last 3 years of Safety and Emissions inspections. They just hired some "new guy" to do the safety and emissions who is frankly a jerk! I have an off-roading Jeep that they passed the last 2 times. It is the same as it has always been. The front bumper cover (NOT THE BUMPER FRAME!) is off which does not violate safety in any way shape or form. Well the new guy would not pass me claiming that the front bumper is there to catch rocks?? If this were true then all Jeep Wranglers who have exposed front tires would be illegal which of course they are not. So I had to drive my V8 gas guzzling Jeep all the way to Herriman just to temporarily attach the plastic bumper cover so he will pass me then I could take it right back off in their parking lot. What a waste of time and gas! YA NOT GOING BACK! Your new guy cost you 3 annual vehicles. Thanks for nothing!

The people that work for State Automotive are professional and courteous and for that they deserve four star, speed of service was good but not super fast- three stars. I used them for emissions and inspection tests for both of my vehicles. Here is where my complaint was. They were ultra picky and made me fix things that had passed for years at other dealers and businesses costing me a lot of money. This included a "loose mirror" that I had to super glue on temporarily- never had a problem and a low crack on the windshield (not obstruction view or very big). I will go elsewhere to avoid the hassle. I used Groupns for these inspections and I think they are picky to try to drum up business for themselves. For that I give two stars.

0 stars - after state radiator ran a dye test on my air conditioner they said the compressor needed to be replaced. I was assured the compressor being put in was new and would fix the problem. $800 later the AC blew a little cooler for a few weeks and then it was if nothing had been done. Took the car back in and was told the compressor was good. They put some freon back in and said everything was sealed, no leaks, good compressor, etc. Another few weeks went by - no cold air again. It is really hit and miss with these guys. I had a couple of good experiences with inspections, then a couple of questionable ones, and then the AC disaster. Trending in the wrong direction and so I am taking my business elsewhere.
