Pontiac dealership said I had a lower and upper gasket leak $685. I took it to Marty at Superior Auto Repair after talking to him on the phone and got a quote of $500 plus tax. I called back and asked if that included a coolant flush and was told that it did. The coolant needed to be done with a lower gasket failure as it usually involves mixed coolant and oil. I also asked if they could put my new plugs in while they had it tore apart and was not told that there was a charge. I asked about replacing a broken windshield washer pump and was told $25 (charged $20, and I had the pump already). So this told me he was quoting labor prices and reinforced my belief that the flush was included and he could put my plugs in while in there. He called after diagnosing the problem as the upper gasket and I guess he couldnt give me an estimate saying he hasnt put a pencil to it yet. Trusting him I suppose too much as he was honest about the upper only being bad, I didnt insist on another quote. When I picked up the car and was informed that the flush was $60, the labor to put my plugs in was $78 (1hr), that I was being charged $40 more for the EXACT same gasket MS95812 (as on invoice) as I can buy at Auto Zone, I was SHOCKED! It would have been nice of Marty to tell me that a flush while now not needed is now an extra $60 and that the plug change was $78 labor. Marty was unsympathetic about my concerns and objections to the bill, and could only say "But the labor is less since it only needed a upper gasket". I guess he thought that made it all better somehow. Warranty is one year or 12000 miles, but he didnt record my odometer reading. I guess hell have to go by the date regardless of mileage. Bottom line is at least they didnt say it needed more work that it really did, but was not upfront with fees and services. PLEASE if you use Superior Automotive GET A DETAILED QUOTE, and if things change after they diagnose it, GET ANOTHER DETAILED QUOTE. Oh and be prepared to get HOSED on parts prices.. Of course please shop around first and do your homework on the problem if circumstances permit before taking it to any shop.

I have been going to Superior Auto Repair for years and have always been pleased with Marty and his service. He is honest and I never feel like I have not been cheated in anyway. Nice to have that feeling when I take my car in. He is good to call and he lets me know the problem before he starts to work on the car. Superior Auto Repair is the BEST!

Marty and his team at Superior Auto are the best. They have years and years of experience and always fix things right the first time. My family and I have been taking our cars to Superior Auto for a long time and have always had great experiences. They fix the problems right, give you an accurate quote, and have very reasonable prices.
