Ive gotten service done from Back to Basics a number of times over the years and have been very happy with their work. Even so I have referred many of my family and friends to them. Ernie has been exceptional to deal with: knowledgeable, very agreeable, and honest. I truly believed that shop upheld their logo values–honesty, integrity, fairness. However, my latest visit to Back to Basics may have been my last. The crew I interacted with were the absolute antithesis of honesty, integrity, and fairness. Not once did I feel my service was handled with the type of honesty, integrity and fairness that I had experienced during my previous visits. Not once did I get a feeling of the tiniest bit of professionalism from this crew. Its possible, and I hope it is the case, that Ernie had hired some new help and that is not how his shop is going to be run from here on out. If so I will not be back, nor will I continue to refer family and friends. Please do something to correct this, Ernie! I would rate dealing with Ernie from Back to Basics a five star experience. However, the crew I just dealt was just awful. If your considering Back to Basics for your repairs, do what you can to deal only with Ernie, otherwise avoid this shop and the current staff.

Ernie and his crew are definitely car people. I wouldnt want someone touching my car if they did not have a passion for cars. I had a very expensive repair; rack and pinion on an Infiniti G35. Although this repair was going to be expensive no matter where I went, I am confident you or I wont find a more fair offer for parts and labor than Back To Basics. I was always in the know with the repair; Ernie kept me informed. Much appreciated. The best thing about this place is the honesty. Ernie admitted that him and his staff made a mistake while repairing my vehicle. I know people will cry foul and say a mechanic shouldnt be making a mistake in the first place. Really though, get real. Mistakes happen. Its what we do after we make the mistake. Ernie owned up to the mistake. That is unheard of this day and age. Just absolutely stellar service. I am astounded with Back To Basics. I know I will be returning and recommending this place to anyone I know. -Zach

Back to Basics is an honest repair shop and I truly cant say enough good about them. Ive been here many times with multiple cars but the first time I came here I was new in town and was worried about being ripped off. I called several repair shops to get a quote for my repair, but when I got Ernie, not only did he have the best rate but he took the time to educate me in detail, something which really stood out from the other shops around town. In addition, he often manages to make time for me on short notice even when the shop is extremely busy. Every time one of my cars needs service, I know I can count on Ernie to have the best rates, honesty and service in town. Id never go anywhere else!

Since moving to Utah from Illinois Ive had all of my work done here. The free bumper-to-bumper inspection with any work I have done has found several problems I otherwise wouldnt have noticed until it was too late. This has saved me massive amounts of money in the long run. Ernie does not cut corners and invests heavily in research to ensure the best solution for your problem. He treats you like a person, not a paycheck. While sometimes repair times are a bit longer than expected, the quality of work is always fantastic, the waiting lounge is very comfortable, and free WiFi helps pass the time. I recommend him to anyone I know who needs a mechanic!

I dont know how this place has a high rating, they need to be reported. Told me I needed a part replaced on my car that my car doesnt even have. Replaced my shocks and struts and heard a loud clanking noise after that took three visits to find and fix. They put the wrong size pin in. Also forgot to put the strut mount back on which I didnt realize until a year later. Also put some bad engine mounts in that when I brought it back I was questioned as to whether I "gun" it as if my mercury Milan could eat through them in under a year. They are cheap yes, and they do even cheaper work.

I have been going to Back to Basics Automotive for about the last 5-6 years or so. In the past they have been professional, knowledge, honest and will do the work at a good price. I dont know what has happened. But my last 3 times I have been to Back to Basics have been unpleasant. They act like they dont care. I feel like I have been run out of the shop. This past week I took our car in for safety and emissions. Ernie acted like he could care less. Brushed me off and told me to go to a shop down the street. I will not return to this shop.

Was an awesome experience pretty much all around, took a tiny bit l;onger than I was hoping, but on a holiday weekend, what can ya do? The service was awesome, and even better the price was about 200$ less than any of the other places I called for an estimate, I would definitely recommend this to anyone whos car is in need of a little TLC. I plan on taking my car here from now on!

Back to Basics is the best place to go if you want honesty, integrity, and a fair price for the work done. I love that when I go in, I am dealing directly with the owner. The mechanics are great, and arent afraid to think out of the box to solve a problem. Lastly, you cant beat the waiting room; nothing like a nap on a recliner while waiting for your car to be finished!

Honest, fair service. I took my car in at 8:30 and they had done the diagnostics and repaired the vehicle by 10:00. They charged an extremely fair price and explained everything very thoroughly. They do a 125-point inspection, but dont try to sell you anything you dont need. They treat you and your car how you would if you were working on it. Definitely go there!

If you dont need it or there is a less expensive way to get the job done Ernie will suggest it. Need an honest second opinion - this is the place to go. I take all of my vehicle work to Ernie and have recommended him to quite a few of my friends and colleagues. All have reported back high satisfaction and know they can trust what he tells them. I have always had great service at Back to Basics. Ernie is impeccably honest. I recommend them to everyone I meet and I have never had a mechanic I felt I could trust until meeting Ernie. I go to Back to Basics for everything that my car needs. I trust that they do a great job with qualified technicians and parts.

Amazing place. They are Honest, Friendly, and Trustworthy. I am extremely glad to have gone there. Ernie was very kind and respectful, he explained to me what had to be done to my car and why. They will answer any question with exact detail about your car. GO THERE, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!
