I asked Don the owner to take a look at my Nissan Xterra after realizing I had major engine problems. He confirmed and gave me pricing from 5-12k to fix it. I declined and paid him $250 for his service. Not being my top priority I let 11 days go by when I received an invoice for $330 to store my car from Don. I was shocked and dismayed. I called Don and his reaction floored me. He told me I had a lack of respect to leave my car that long, that I was told there were parking issues. Well if this was the case his secretary should have called and let me know and not gone about it this way. In our discussion I was very apologetic that I had not towed my car sooner. I felt wronged and demoralized and that is why Im warning others. Don said if I removed my car by 9 am the next day he would not pursue the $330 and that he wasnt going to make any money on me anyway. Btw Take me off your marketing list of postcards, emails and all other mailings.

Don, Suzanne and Billy over at Master Mechanic are great. They have always been responsive to my needs and given me the best pricing possible. Definitely worth it to sign up for their Autocare Club Card too. Here is an example of the good service. In February I had my 2002 Corolla Sport power steering pump replaced and the the whole system flushed. In mid March my power steering totally failed. Master Mechanic replaced the pump free of charge on parts and labor no questions asked due to the warranty on the failed part. They also let me know what maintenance I should get done now and what I can wait on and an approximate cost of the maintenance. Billy has moved on now but Don and Suzanne run the show. Good people, Good Service, and they always leave a little gift in the car after the service is done. I highly recommend Master Mechanic for your auto care needs if you live in the Chantilly, Fairfax, eastern Loudoun area. Jamie Sexton

I dont write many reviews but when i got my inspection sheet back i was shocked to see that there was something wrong with my 2016 mustang. I took the car back to a body shop to check on all the problems but from the "brake, front light, and tail light", the body shop could only find that the tail light worked but did not go as sequence, but it still worked and shouldnt be something to fail a car over! They failed the brakes because it did not "operate properly", and when i went to the body shop the brakes were nearly perfect, and shouldnt be failed over. The front desk lady was nice, and cooperative but some other dude seemed rude, and in a rush. It seems like they failed my car, just because they wanted a reason for me to pay them more but this car should easily pass a regular inspection with flying colors. Wasted my time and will not be back.

Don & team not only agreed to look at my car when it broke down on Friday afternoon before Memorial Day weekend, they also stayed late to fix the alternator and replace the battery so I could get on the road for a weekend trip. This is the 2nd time Ive been to Master Mechanic for something other than routine maintenance and the service has been incredible each time. Theyre efficient, honest, friendly, and definitely have expertise to go along with the great customer service. When I called Don to ask if I could come in, I gave him an idea of what was going on and while I was getting a tow to the shop, he went ahead and ordered an alternator so it would be ready in case that was the problem so they could fix it right away. Pretty amazing - most shops wouldnt do that. I cant recommend Master Mechanic enough!

I have been a customer of Master Mechanic for several years with two different vehicles and am very happy with my service experience. They are very attentive to your cars needs and consult with you on preventive services to keep your car running at an optimal performance. The staff are wonderful and have been so helpful scheduling service appointments and making helpful recommendations for my service needs. They have even acted as a personal shuttle when I needed a ride to/from the shop. Their kindness and attention to their customers needs is very much appreciated. I would recommend anyone who is looking for a reliable place to service their vehicle to go to Master Mechanic. They have maintenance specials and an Autocare Club Program that is affordable and well worth the money.

Great customer service. Ive only ever taken my car to them for the last year or so and have gotten my family to start using them as well. I get notifications for when I need to bring my car in for annual check ups (theyre better than my doctor at that). Theyre fast, friendly and genuine. Sometimes Ive had to stupidly make noises for them so I can explain whats wrong and theyve been really awesome about not making me feel like a dummy. Ive been to places that will swindle me into spending more money than I need to. One time they filled my cars tires with complimentary fart air! Also, if youve been friends with the mechanic for a decade, youll get free a hug when theyre all done. 10/10 would recommend.

Theres a real beauty to a locally and independently owned auto repair business. And here is a great example of one. Theres no trick to a long lasting business as Master Mechanic with a team of experts who are not only honest and knowledgeable with great customer service, but they really care and take you in as a member of their family. Take advantage of their "Autocare Club Program" - it is one of the best deals Ive come across in the market. They are always readily available, and always take the time to explain every matter with you so that you are completely satisfied when you walk out the door. I have found my forever mechanic expert, and I plan to stay for very long time. Best Service Ever!

I needed a new clutch for my car, and took it to these guys. Over $1000 to replace, and upon leaving their shop and getting out onto Rt. 29, the cable connecting the shifter to the transmission broke, and I instantly lost my ability to shift. My call to the shop asking them what would have happened amounted to "gee, that stinks", and proceeded to charge me another $400 to fix the part that they said "just happened to fail at the same time". They insisted that the cable did not need to be disconnected to replace the clutch, and was no fault of theirs. A talk to another mechanic showed this to be a lie. Recommend avoiding this place unless you have a thing for being extorted. =P

I have been going to Master Mechanic for over 11 years and I swear by these guys. Don Ballard, the owner, runs the shop with honesty and integrity. There are far too many mechanics that outright lie about whats wrong with a car and they artificially inflate the customers bill. Master Mechanic is the opposite. They tell you exactly whats wrong with the car and if there are no issues, theyll tell you that too! All of my cars are Japanese and by avoiding the dealerships all together, Ive saved thousands by going to MM. I have referred a number of friends and colleagues to MM and theyre big fans as well. As long as I live in VA, theyre the only mechanic Ill use.
