I called Roto Router on 3/12/17 (Sunday) for service due to good reviews from my Neighbor who used the service last year. My main sewer line out the front yard to the County sewer line was clogged. I had water backing up in my garage utility sink and downstairs toilet. The customer service representative was very responsive but the soonest they could come out to the house was Monday afternoon from 3:30 to 7:30. I did have York County come out Sunday night and check their lines to ensure the clog was not in the county’s lines—it wasn’t. Monday at 9:30 pm, 2 hours after the scheduled time, the service tech showed up. I did not get any updates from customer service or dispatch on the timeliness of the service. Even though he was late, Micah did a great job explaining the required actions and service. He had the 100 ft snake with him and used the entire length and unfortunately, it did not reach the blockage. He stated that they had another machine (“the Jetter”) which could reach all the way through the yard to the county lines. He called Dispatch to schedule this service the next day (Tuesday) from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. At 9:30 pm that night, (4 ½ hours late!), Robert showed up with the same 100 ft snake machine. He apologized profusely for the mix up and called dispatch again to reschedule the Jetter machine for Wednesday. On Wednesday mid-day, I got a call from the technician, Eric, with an update. It was too cold (below freezing) to use the Jetter machine and he would have to reschedule for Thursday when it warmed up. Finally on Thursday around 1:00 pm, Eric showed up with the Jetter machine and cleared the clog with help from another technician Chase, who reset my toilet in the downstairs bathroom. Both Eric and Chase are great techs and know what they are doing. So 4 days and $415 later (do the Yelp check in to get a discount!) I could use the water in the house again. I was supposed to get a follow up call from a tech with the camera system to come out to the house on Friday and do a system check in the pipes, but I haven’t heard back from him yet. If it wasn’t for the scheduling snafus and lack of comm when the techs ran late, I would give this a higher rating. Once they get out to your house with the correct equipment, they know what they are doing.

Called early on a Monday morning due to a gurgling toilet and slow drains in several locations of the house. House had been vacant for a while prior to us recently purchasing it. Was told that I would see a plumber between 8 and 10 am. Only had the one working toilet since my overzealous husband had snapped the bolts on the other toilet the previous night. Asked about pricing and was told would receive pricing directly from plumber. Received a call around 9:15 that the plumber would be a little late but that we should see someone by 10:30. Received a call after 11 that the plumber would be on his way shortly. Said hed just come on shift and been given the order. He arrived and I explained the issues, at this point a little frustrated having been without a toilet for several hours. He quoted me $315 to snake the main line (which I later found out what he meant was the sewer line). Took him a while to complete because his equipment broke while he was feeding the line. Once he got that fixed it was finished pretty quickly. Let him talk me into the line conditioner at $60 a bottle given the age of the house and how long it was vacant. As he handed me the invoice was where I found out about the $850 whole house deal. Wish Id have known that a little sooner. Mentioned a few other issues and was basically told that one was a slow drain and the other was something we could handle on our own if we didnt want to pay $315 per line snaked. I pretty much said wed do it ourselves at that point. Noticed later on that the "slow drain" was actually a pretty serious clog that ended up taking awhile to clear. And the vents needed cleaning too. Would have been nice if he could have mentioned that seeing as I told him we were fist time home owners. Overall, Id say that the job he did do was satisfactory but that the office needs a little work as does the business model. Seems to me they leave you hanging till youre desperate and will pay anything just to have functioning plumbing.

I have attempted to use this place twice when I should have know after the first fiasco. My first call was a service for them to hook my new refrigerator up to the water under the house, the tech was nice and seemed knowledgeable. A week later I am awaken by the sound of hissing water, somehow the hose had not been connected securely and had been spraying water underneath my home for a week and had just come apart in my kitchen at 11pm. Upon calling them I was told that it would be a 4 hr wait to get someone out to help me. Eventually I the next day I was told that it was their fault and they got one of their handy men out to fix everything and dry out my crawlspace. The second time calling I put in a request to get them out and was told I had a 4 hr window at 11pm to fix a pipe that had broken in my master bath. 30 minutes later I get a call saying that they would not be able to send anyone to my home with no explanation as to why not. I was furious that such a well known company that boast about their 24 hr emergency service was turning me down and I could only assume that they did not want to end up with another bill because of their incompetent technicians. I will never use their services again at least not in the Hampton Roads, VA area. The fact that they took responsibility for their mistake is the only reason they get one star.

Now I know why there are so many reviews - sweepstakes! Anyway. I googled for a plumber, scheduled a service online late at night yesterday, and Shawn was at my house first thing in the morning. He did a good job fixing a clogged toilet. We agreed he needed to pull it and stick a snake down the pipe, but turned out it was a root coming up through concrete and growing into the drain through a deteriorated wax ring. It was an easier job than planned, but the price didnt change - thats the only downside. Understandable though, I cant expect it to go down after we signed a work order. To make things better, Shawn did a video inspection of the pipes as far as 65 and found a cleanout in the yard (I didnt know there are two). All pipes are nice and clean, lets just hope that root doesnt grow back too fast. I dont know how their price compares to everyone else out there, but I cant complain about the service.

I had a clogged kitchen sink and couldnt fix it myself, so I scheduled an appointment online at midnight on Christmas day! I love that I could schedule it myself online at any time! The service tech was available early, so called and came ahead of schedule. He told me prices up front, so there were no surprises, which I liked. He spent about 30 minutes trying to unclog it with methods that work on most drains, as he was trying to save me the fee for having to run the snake. I was impressed with all that he tried, but unfortunately, the clog was about 50 feet out, so he had to use the snake. He worked and worked to make sure that the clog was completely clear, and he showed me everything on the camera as he did it. I am pretty skeptical of most plumbing companies, but with this tech, I felt that he was honest and not out to scam me. From my experience, I would highly recommend this company!
