I have previously reviewed APA, and my review appears to have been deleted, although nothing about it was inappropriate. My first visit to APA was shortly after I moved to Williamsburg, and I felt that the service there was great. Tony took extra time making sure the issues with my vehicle were properly resolved, and I appreciated the time taken to make sure I was completely satisfied. I visited a couple additional times for oil changes on Family Service days, and then in the spring of 2011, knowing I had a business trip to Charleston, SC, and that my AC system wasnt properly cooling, I scheduled an appointment for AC system service (having been told by APA personnel on my last oil change visit that it probably just needed charging). Before my scheduled visit to APA, my vehicle started overheating, and I figured out that neither cooling fan was coming on. I alerted APA of this fact, so they could look at the issue when the car was in for its scheduled appt, but in the meantime, another shop had the car in for minor service & they tested both fans & said the motors were bad. A friend of mine replaced the motors to save me some money, but we could tell once he was done that the fans still werent coming on correctly, so I advised APA of this when I dropped off the vehicle. Tony called me to say nothing was wrong with the cooling fans, and I asked him to check again, as Im somewhat mechanically inclined, and Id seen them malfunction myself several times. (APA hadnt been able to get them to malfunction.) Tony called me back later to say theyd tested the car again several times & had no issue. At they end of the day, APA charged me $105 for testing the car & telling me nothing was wrong, plus the $180ish for servicing the AC system. I objected to the $105 charge because most shops Ive visited in the past comp that sort of charge if youre having other work done. But I paid it, drove home, parked the car, and didnt move it again till I drove to Charleston 3 days later. The drive to Charleston is all highways, so the car was up to speed the whole time, w/ plenty of air flow. Once we arrived, I parked the car, and a couple hours later, my brother-in-law took it out to a local grocery store. Within 30 minutes, he called me to say the car had completely overheated & blown hoses. He was concerned that it was a very hot day & he knew the heads on this particular engine could be easily damaged by the overheating, so he had the car towed to the Charleston Honda dealer (who was closed for the day). By 7:45 am the next day (after opening at 7:30), the service tech at Charleston Honda was on the phone with me, telling me that the reason the car had overheated was thatthe cooling fans were mounted incorrectly so that they werent coming on, and one of them had a broken tab. The total bill for that incident was over $450 (which included an oil change 5 days after Id just had one, just in case the oil had been damaged by getting too hot in the overheating incident). Upon my return, I contacted Tony, who referred me to Dave. Dave called me back and offered me a free oil change, but stated he didnt feel APA shared any responsibility for the issues Id experienced, even though it wasnt even five days later that another service shop told me that all issues Id had were the result of the exact problem Id taken the car to APA for in the first place. So while I still think APA does good in the community, I dont feel they did ME right as a customer, and so I cant in good conscience recommend them to someone else.

Just thought I should respond with my review since I was asked to do so before I left, boy are they bold, write a good review get a discount ! I needed an oil change and happened to be close. All I can say is they must import there oil from Italy, I never in my life paid so much for an oil change, and I might add they were a little snooty. I was told at the time that I was due for a timing belt replacement so I thought what the heck how much do you charge for that service, I was quoted around $1400.00, after I arrived home I was curious what other shops in the area charged, after some calls I was not surprised that this facility was by far the highest, followed by the local Dealer, My neighbor and I were talking and he told me of a place that he uses in Toano so I called and asked them for a quote on the same repair, the answer shocked me $840.00 I asked why so cheap, and the gentleman responded, what do you mean, I told him what I was quoted elsewhere and he responded with, I would be glad to charge you the amounts you were quoted elsewhere but the job only pays so much and parts only cost so much, $840.00 dollars is what you should be charged any more is clearly being over charged made an appointment a couple of days later arrived to find a very friendly atmosphere, clean and well organized shop, Extremely clean ! When I arrived later that day to pick up my vehicle i was shocked to see that my vehicle was not only fixed but the entire engine compartment looked like new. So if you are ever in need of Auto Service call around get several estimates, I live in Fords Colony and it was worth the drive to Andersons Corner and save nearly $700.00. I think I might take a mini Vacation with the savings !

American Pride Automotive Sales: I recently purchased a BMW from the lot at the Williamsburg location. This being my first time purchasing a second-hand vehicle from a dealership, I was extremely impressed with the service, professionalism, and labor taken to complete the transaction. (Quite honestly, it was even better than my new car purchase experiences) The car was obtained by them from an existing customer, so all the service information and a Carfax report were provided. The vehicle was well priced and in better than expected condition for the age. There was absolutely no sales pressure or “used car salesmen” syndrome present. The purchase process was extremely easy, with the salesperson taking the time to explain each form and allowing me to review before signature. And being a full service shop, they were able to take care of all the title and license plates needs for me. Because I purchased the vehicle and then picked it up later in the week, they had actually completed the DMV process and I had permanent license plates the night I left the lot – easy as pie! Because of my experience and the reviews I have read from other people, I would comfortably recommend purchasing automobiles and using their service department without question. If you are in the market for a new-to-you automobile, shopping for the kids, in need of service, or just see something ‘eye-catching’ on the lot, I would go so far as to say that you are doing yourself a disservice by not doing business with these fine people.

Forget my previous comment. I have driven this car less than 500 miles, and I just had to take it to get the clutch replaced. The clutch was not under the warranty apparently, and cost me $1300. American pride offered no help in this even though it mustve been looked over in a previous inspection. The reason I paid a premium price for this car to begin with was because I thought I could trust them to really take care of me. Now I have $1300 to add to the car that already went over my budget.I was told I would not be left hanging, and I thought I could trust that. I had a friend I was going to refer to them who is looking for a car, but now I certainly wont. In response to the owners response to me and my father devaluing our feedback: I did not come back on with a different identity to post a comment. As a student, I have 2 separate email accounts and happened to be signed in with a different account. Also, I was broken down without a clutch less than 300 miles away in NC....not 3 states away.... Also, as was stated in the response, I was not provided with any alternative options for service. I originally left positive feedback because I trusted the honesty in the service and the phrase "we will take care of you." It is when the follow through was needed that I was forced to lose trust. I believe this business has wonderful intentions in their service, but when push comes to shove, they are not willing to rise above mistakes made in original inspections and do what they can to make things right.
