Chaplins sucks. BUY FROM CAMPBELL NELSON INSTEAD! The Chaplin employees are probably wonderful people. But (as they say) a snake rots from the head on down. I purchased a brand new Touareg from Chaplins in 2004, and then also another VW in 2005/2006. (Id call that a loyal customer). Overtime, my terminally defective Touareg was at Chaplins for its "umpteenth" issues. That wasnt Chaplins fault, early model Touaregs everywhere were having these same issues. So I asked the Chaplins ownership to connect me with the regional VW factory rep. (BTW: I am a factory rep myself in another industry, so I know this is a reasonable request when a matter of this nature persists). But the ownership of Chaplins indignantly REFUSED to make the connection for me. The owners completely blew me off, with a smirk on their face that screamed of "what are you going to do about it) . And I mean literally, they smiled as they said "We decided that we are not going to put you in touch with the factory rep" (not a word for word quote, but close enough). Well....that showed their true colors. They looked at me and my business as expendable. Denying my right to take my issue to the manufacturer to say "HEY! This situation is unacceptable". Well, I got the message. And as an empowered consumer I have proceeded accordingly. I have since purchased 4 cars since then, and obviously none from Chaplins. Further, I have "steered" (pun intended) COUNTLESS prospective VW customers to Campbell-Nelson VW (the good guys) where they will be treated with real-respect. Not just a surface(y) feel-good smile, but with substance beneath it. Again, Im sure their employees are good people, this is not a knock on them. This is about the owners back in 2006-2008. If thats changed, then scratch this. If not, they deserve every bit of this. Bottom-line? If everything goes smoothly, youll never even notice their rotten-core. But if things go at all sideways? Good luck. Moral Of The Story- Do yourself a favor- AVOID CHAPLINS, BUY FROM CAMPBELL NELSON VW! (Just read all the other reviews, totally validates my review. As soon as an issue gets below skin deep, they fold like deck chairs on the titanic.... Stay clear of Chaplins).

Worst customer service experience in all my years of owning a car. I have a 2015, Suabaru Impreza Hatchback with 32k miles on it. On my way over the pass last night, heading east bound there was a long delay (20+ minutes) on the pass. I put my car into park as many of the cars around me to wait out the delay. I was stopped on a section of the freeway where there is no shoulder, the lanes are narrow, its dark and just around a bend out of sight of drivers behind me. I quirking tried to get my car out of park and the shifting mechanism would not engage. I was stuck. In the middle of the road. For over an hour!!! With Wsdot and State Patrol and a tow trucks help I was able to safely get to my destination. I was able to get my car home to Seattle but manually overriding the gear box and if this experience wasnt horrifying enough, Chaplins Subaru offered no empathy or resolution to this matter. I was initially told it would be a three week wait and then when I asked for a manager, he proceeded to tell me that there was no garantee that he could resolve this issue and made me feel like what I just experienced was not a big deal. He proceeded to tell me that "everyone thinks their car is important and a priority." I told him that the Yakima dealership offered to come PICK up the car and resolve the issue first thing. He told me that I should just do that...even after I told him that I live and work in Seattle. Really? in the end, he told me that the best he could do was have me come in the morning, and if they had the parts it could potentially be done by the end of the day with no guarantee. I was appalled overall at the level of service I was provided so before I would bring my car to Chaplins I thought to call Eastside Subaru of Kirkland. The manager their got me in with in an hour, fixed the issue (by replacing a brake light switch) as I waited, washed my car, apologized profusely and was extremely empathic and understanding. I will not ever go to Chaplins Subaru to buy or service a vehicle but would highly recommend Eastside Subaru if you would like excellent customer service and a great all-around experience.

If I could give this place a 0 I would. I had my 08 sti in because I was having misfire issues. They had it for about a week and a half and during that time they called me and told me they fixed the issue 4 different times. Within 5 minutes of picking it up I had the exact same misfire issues every time. I had to have it towed back to the service department for theme to work on it AGAIN. About $1500 later in parts and labor that the car didnt need at all, the problem was still there even though they said they had fixed it. Eventually I did my own 15 minutes of research and found it was my crankshaft sensor that was just dirty. For $30 I bought a new one, installed it in less than 5 minutes and all of my problems were gone. If you ever have problems with your subaru, never bring it here unless you want to get scammed and still have the same existing problem. After I talked to them about it they just simply said they couldnt figure It out even though thats their job. It was the cheapest, most easily accessible sensor on the entire car and they didnt think to check that when that was the main code that would be thrown. Ill be back in for some money back since they charged me $1500 to fix a problem they didnt even come close to fixing. They also installed new spark plugs and told me my old ones were done for even though I had just put them on 50 miles prior. I dont recommend this place to anyone even if its your last resort, I would drive to a different state to get worked on before I took my car back to this place. The employees and master tech were actually really nice, just not knowledgeable on cars at all. Im actually baffled this place is still in business with all of the scams they throw around. Especially considering my friend got his entire sound system stolen from his car when they were working on it. Ill be in to talk to a manager to get a full refund on the (non existent) work that they "did"

Purchased my Car from Chaplins almost two years ago. After having to email their GM about the poor customer service I received he asked me to come back in and I was helped by John Goodfellow who was fantastic. Today I took my car in to get serviced and can say that at this point I will not be returning for service or to purchase a new car. Scheduled 20,000 mile service on my car online. Got several messages by phone and email asking me to confirm my appointment. I confirmed, yet when I arrived still had to go through everything I wanted done with the guy. What was the point of scheduling my services then? Upon picking up my car I discovered that I had received the 7,500 mile service and not the 20,000 mile. I asked several times what was inspected and all they did was show me a sheet without the things they say they checked on it. When asked to point out the check box that said they checked my cabin air filter I was met with "Well, its not on there but we always check it." Here are a few more issues I had. - Was given three prices when trying to pay. Guy kept telling her to take things off and that they did some stuff and not the other. - Part of the service was a tire rotation. I have never had my tires rotated. Service said they were fine and they didnt need to rotate them. (This seemed very odd to me) -Ultimately payed close to $100 to have my oil changed and my tires not rotated. On top of that I now have no confidence that anything was done to my car that I asked for and will have to take it somewhere else for service to make sure. Thanks for the $100 lesson Chaplins.
