Quote for brake job on girlfriends car was fraudulent, with perfectly good parts listed as defective, and billing labor for each step of the job as a separate job, including time to tear down each stage of the assembly with redundant charges, trying to take advantage of the fact she didnt know better. 1100 dollars for a car that only needed pads. Quoted for new calipers (working fine, for thousands of miles now), rotors, saying they were "rusted", when no contact area has any damage, and only light surface rust on the rotor hub and material well within serviceable range and with no unusual wear patterns. Beware. The guy couldnt look me in the eye once I started questioning why they had billed to to move calipers, pads, rotors, and each step at full rate, and started mumbling some half hearted explanation about them only being "recommendations". Corporate didnt even offer an apology when I complained. Went home, jacked it up in the rain, put in some new pads, got thousands of miles without issues. Avoid this place like the plague, especially if youre a woman who doesnt know much about cars. They will try to take advantage of the fact and over bill you 400% what you should pay.

Stuck in town over labor day weekend. Rear brakes needed work.Store manager got us in before he estimated by 10:00 a.m. to troubleshoot. We were oversold a bit, however as a mechanic myself I know it is a liability not to do one side of the brakes and not the other.650.00 was quoted for 2 calipers,2 rotors and 2 sets of shoes + labor.I figure the parts wouldve cost me 350.00 at home so the 3 wise men Many Moe and Jack made 300.00.I wouldve charged about the same at my shop, so it was fair and reasonable. And I didnt screw up my anniversary with my wife chasing parts and getting greasy. We were out the door 2 hours before he estimated as well. Fine job by a generation X which usually I am sceptical about in the first place.648.00 end damages.

Havent been yet. But made an appt to have my brake pads (bought last year) Installed. Hoping I dont have a similar negative experience. In past years, Ive had exceptional service from other PEP BOY stores in Az, Ca, and Or. Ca San Bernardino store actually paid for one of two new tires a few years back. Very RARE for such a CORPORATION to do. So Ill re-review after my appt today to tell how it went.

I used to go to this place before it turned into a Pep Boys. After the change I went to diagnose my car pulling to the right. Was quoted over $1,600. That did not look right for the work listed. I took it to another small shop across town for a second opinion. The repair on the CV axle plus some overdue maintenance came to just over $700, less than half of what I was quoted by Pep Boys for less work.

Great price on tires, good friendly staff. It did take them a little over 2 hours to put on tires I thought that was a bit excessive, because they told me it would take an hour. But the finished product was great so it all worked out.

Steve the manager did a great job installing difficult tires on my Lotus Elise, used real kid gloves and made it looked easy. He balanced my tires right to zero without being asked. Thank you Steve!
