I had a 1997 Ford Expedition that has only been a great car. Its been well cared for and maintained and has never given me problems. I also did not have a regular mechanic since moving to Beaverton, but fortunately I never needed one until yesterday. I was driving my daughter to school and my temperature light came on in the car. The gauge did not have time to show hot, as I pulled over immediately and had my car towed to Meineke. It was close by and I prayed they would be honest with me. I told them what happened when I went in and told them my dad said maybe it was a stuck temperature gauge or it might need to be replaced. They spent two hours before telling me that I was right and charged me $225 to change out the $21 gauge. I drove off the lot feeling good that I had fixed the problem. I drove about a mile to my house and the car did fine. Later, I got in the car to take daughter to practice and within 5 minutes of starting it up, the gauge light and the check engine light came on. The temperature also went from cold to maxed out HOT in front of my eyes. I immediately pulled over, stuck on a highway during late afternoon traffic. I called Meineke and told them my car obviously wasnt fixed and they told me to have it towed back to them. After an hour of waiting for two truck, getting towed and waiting another hour after getting to their shop, I was given horrible news. Apparently they had run a carbon test on my anti-freeze and since it showed carbon, it meant I had a broken head gasket "at the very least". When I asked why they didnt tell me this earlier in the day when my car was there for the exact same thing, they said "because normally we charge $100 to run the carbon test and your car didnt show the normal signs of a broken head gasket." After that they told me it would take about 18 hours of labor to replace the head gasket and it would run about $2,600 to replace. My car wasnt even worth more than a thousand, so essentially what they told me was pretty devastating. One moment I had a great reliable car and the next I was told it was a huge price just to get it to run again. When I mentioned that I didnt think it was fair that they charged me to replace the thermostat when it was obviously something else, they said, "well we arent even charging you the $100 for the carbon test." Oh good... I feel better now. I loosened the anti-freeze cap just a little and continued to drive the car with no problems for another two days, until I sold it for salvage and had to take out a car loan just to get another car. Also, while sitting there ALL DAY LONG, I heard them tell every single customer huge things that were wrong with their cars. Not one person seemed to have a mechanically sound vehicle. Maybe what they told me was true. But I had no proof. I couldnt see a broken head gasket. They never showed me results from a carbon test. In fact, I never saw the thermostat they replaced or the old one they took out. I now have another vehicle and I will never, ever take it there. And its too bad because apparently they are doing a lot of advertising to try and get a lot of new business, but I dont feel like anybody should trust them.

These people are scam artists plain and simple. My mother and I went in to fix a problem with the brakes and experienced some amazingly incompetent customer service (a woman was sat in the waiting room for fifteen minutes waiting for someone when they didnt even know she was there because the man hadnt even turned the alarm on for the day; it was 2:30pm). We had made an online appointment and gotten an email affirmation, but when we showed up, we were nowhere on the schedule because the "online appointments werent working". Even though the website said nothing about it, and wed gotten a confirmation email. Already I was frustrated, and the mans incredibly nonchalant and dismissive attitude didnt help. He said 2:30 in the afternoon was "far too late" to bring something in, even though wed made the appointment at 10am that morning, and made a comment about likely not having the materials available and not having the time to get them. You would think a mechanic shop would be able to fix something as simple as brakes, but whatever, we just wanted our car to stop leaking brake fluid. So we let this man take our car, because we were both due at work and had to go. You would think thatd be the end of it, but of course not. The day we got our car back, we began to hear a rattling noise none of us had ever heard before, one that only worsened by the day. Mind you, were days away from a road trip, so we really need to make sure our car isnt going to just up and fall apart. So my mom calls in to this Meineke, asks for the mechanic that worked on our car, then gets told by this man that hed told her about the noise when they disclosed the amount of money the brakes would cost. Its a flat out lie. My mom can affirm that that never happened. The guy stuck to it as she assured him that no, theyd never talked about it and it started up AFTER wed taken it in. He told her she could bring it in and, for another sum of money we really dont have, he could fix the problem he apparently already knew about, though after some more assurance that, no, shed never heard any of this, he buckled slightly and asked her to bring it in again so he could check. Today she showed the mechanic the noise, and he blamed it on her. Said they could work on it for more money. How shady can you get? Never go to this location, theyll mess up your car, blame it on you, then demand more money to fix what they did. Scam artists. Incompetent scam artists.

Been meaning to write this for about 8 years now which is how long theyve been working on my cars now. I even work for Carr Auto Group and will bring my cars to Meineke pretty often because their pricing is often less than my employee pricing where I work. The three things you really want from an auto repair place are: 1) Honesty, where they are not finding stuff wrong with your car where they are making it up so they can charge you for problems that dont exist; and 2) Great pricing! Auto repairs are always so scary cause the price can climb really quickly, but somehow the costs have always been so reasonable here. Yelp user tip - go on Meinekes website and print the awesome coupons! And lastly; 3) Mechanics that are highly skilled. I have brought at least four different cars here over the years all with over 100k miles and they have fixed all of them flawlessly every time. If Im in the car business and Im recommending this place for honesty and great pricing and skilled mechanics then that should tell you something - bring your cars here! I never write reviews either but just know how hard it is to find a good mechanic in town so felt I needed to let people know about this place. This Meineke has both of these things. They are always
