Many fake ids giving ratings of 5, funny isnt it? Well in the month of June (became unfortunate) I moved to Madison, I needed oil change since i drove here from the southern part east coast. One of the tires was punctured as well, which I did not realize until i came to this store(why the hell did i???) for oil change. These people had a free(fake) brake inspection thing and I opted for that. So they do the oil change and come to me telling that single General tire costs a whooping 119.99 per tire and told that I needed to change 2 tires to prevent me from losing control and going all over the road. Since a tire was punctured, i thought that i go ahead and get it fixed, but the person in the shop forced me to change 2 tires. I quickly tried to research using my cellphone about the cost for tire replacement but could not find any concrete information on the cost. The guy in the shop told that they have been in business for long and would take good care of the customer and need, they wont cheat (lol...now i know that they just cheat) But little did i know then that 2055516 General Altimax RT43 costs only $80 per tire. I got cheated by $80 since they charged me $240 for 2 tires instead of $160. In addition to that, they put exorbitant rates for "Mount & Balance" , $31.90 for 2 tires and God knows for what they charged me $19.90 tire protection plan. The name of the mechanic on the bill is Fabian C ("C" stands for cheater based on my experience here). The person in the shop came back with a brake pad replacement, rotor replacement, suspension maintenance, mechanical maintenance, lube caliper slides, disk brake hardware kit and wheel alignment(why again????) as thing to be worked upon brakes. The funny part is for the entire brake replacement and maintenance they put a whooping $1800 as cost. I declined brake change, took my car to Firestone and got my brake re-inspected. Firestone told brakes are perfectly alright and needed no replacement for another 30K if I would be driving mostly on the freeway or 10K miles if i would be driving in the city. Already i got cheated about $120-$130 for changing the tire(inflated cost for tire plus high charges for some kinda mounting and protection plan), just imagine the kinda loss i would be if I had changed my brake system from them, especially when there is no need for any change. BEWARE of this shop and employees. They are totally unprofessional, unethical and lack integrity. ALL PROSPECTIVE Customers STAY AWAY...and DONT DARE to THINK of becoming a Customer here.

the gas line in my car froze during a recent winter storm in madison, and my insurance only towed to the nearest auto repair shop, which happened to be carx. after being unsuccessful with a jump-start, i had no choice but to arrange a tow for my vehicle. once i arrived, the manager never once looked me in the eyes when he spoke, so i was hesitant from the beginning. fortunately, the service tech was extremely friendly and diligent with his work. however, they came back with two quotes (one over $300 and one over $400), and after having my car in one week ago at blains farm and fleet to replace the alternator and battery, plus perform a full diagnostic, it became quickly apparent they were leveraging my situation to their advantage. after confirming with the service tech that my car was able to start once it warmed up (which was my goal from the beginning), i thanked them for their time, and drove away for a second opinion. the second opinion confirmed everything i was quoted could be replaced or tuned-up (spark plugs aging, spark plug wires), but there was no time restraint on these repairs. furthermore, my car has started several times with no issue since working with carx. if the quotes didnt come back as they did, and had the manager looked me in the eyes and conveyed any sense of willingness to help, i wouldve definitely considered carx in the future. i wish i wouldve remembered the technicians name that worked on my car, because for those of you that havent had a poor experience with carx, i would definitely recommend him.

Do not go to this place! I took my wifes car in for a small exhaust repair and they were dishonest in every way. They quoted me a total of 447.00 to complete a small repair. I talked to the mechanic and he said that he would talk to the manager about lowering the price. He got back on the phone and said"sir, my manager said we could do it for 375.00". I replied with " I still think thats quite a bit to complete this job". The manager then got on the phone a few minutes later and said "oh we can take the year warranty off and it will be 320.00, and youll have a 90 day warranty" I found it pretty amazing that the price would drop 130.00 with a bit of questioning.I then said "that is still too much and I will be there to pick the car up soon". I picked the car up and I was able to get the quote on paper. The cost for the parts on the quote were 355.00, the labor was 45.00 and taxes and a shop fee brought the price to 447.00. I could not find a section stating that a warranty was costing me extra. Whatever you do, do not give this place your business. They are accustomed to quoting prices and then dropping just a bit if the customer complains. However, the amount they drop the price to is still outrageous. This is not fair to the consumer in any way. I then took my car to Speedy Muffler down the street and dropped it off. They called me in 10 minutes and said they had looked at the car and that they could do the entire job for 195.00. They did a superb job and it was still 120.00 cheaper than this horrible place!

Went in for a oil change, said I was in a hurry, they said 45 minutes and got me to agree to a combo deal including a tire rotation and new wiper blades. 30 minutes later a mechanic came out to show me all the problems with my car. Apparently I needed new tires, a new muffler, a new serpentine belt, new tire rods, new exhaust pipes and at least one other thing. Two young women were in the shop before me, they were given the same spiel about their tire rods, and while I was waiting they came back after their tire rotation saying something was wrong with their car after carx serviced it (seems like a scam me to me.) 45 minutes later they told me they didnt have the kind of blades from my wipers that I needed. It ended up taking over an hour, being only an oil change that should have taken 20 minutes tops (not to mention they wouldnt rotate my tires), and now I wonder if they purposely broke pieces of my car to try and get money to repair it. NEVER GO HERE. Got a jiffy lube to get ur oil changed or go to a place you trust not somewhere that will try to get you over a 1000 dollar quote for bullshit repairs and make you wait twice as long as any other shop.

Dont take your car here for any repairs! I had a similar experience to the guy below. I brought my car in to get a new alternator. They "found" a lot of other stuff that was wrong with the engine (it needed new belts, new spark plugs, etc.) and quoted me a price near $1200. I said it was out of my price range and the guy who called me said he would "check with his manager" and get back to me. He called back and claimed had been able to get the price down to $1020. I said Id still probably take it to get another quote and quickly got off the phone. I went to a mechanic I had used before (J&K Auto Service off of Stoughton Rd.) and they were not only able to the alternator for about $100 cheaper,, but said that the many of the other problems were fabricated. The car *did not* need new sparkplugs. The guys at Car-X are used to taking advantage of people who do not know better. They would have overcharged me $500 if I had just gone along with their price quote or $300 after my original objections. At least get a second opinion before you waste your money.
