I go to Uhaul locations daily. I run a moving company that has a partnership with Uhaul. I have literally been to every major Uhaul location in SE Wisconsin and NE Illinois. I have seen some really poorly run Uhaul locations. The 2020 West State Street location is by far the worst Uhaul location I have ever had to deal with. The manager and staff are equally unprofessional. I believe one of the employees was actually threatening me. However, it was hard to tell what he saying due to the heavy amount of slang he was using. I highly recommend that you DO NOT use this location, especially if you are interested in renting a Ubox. If you do infact rent a ubox from this location they will make you drop the loaded Ubox off at a different Uhaul location (which is 30-45 minutes round trip out of your way) and bring them back a empty Ubox. This cost extra gas money that came out of my pocket and I got charged 10 addidtional miles in the Uhaul truck as well. I have never had to deal with this shady of a set up at any of the other 100s of Uhaul locations I have been to. Long story short... The staff basically strong arms you into doing their dirty work, and they are extremely rude in the process. If you have any choice at all, go to a different Uhaul location. STAY AWAY FROM THIS UHAUL LOCATION!

Like another reviewer I decided to give this location the benefit of the doubt because it was so close to my new apartment. I too was proven wrong. They gave me the truck with half a tank of gas and told me to fill it up exactly halfway or be charged for them to fill it ($5.00 per gallon plus an additional $30 service fee). I complied and filled it exactly halfway. I dropped the truck off after hours and in the morning received an email stating that the tank was returned only 1/8th full so I was charged over $80 for them to fill it. Luckily I had gotten the feeling that they might screw me over and had taken a picture of the dashboard when I dropped it off showing the final mileage on the truck and the gas tank, exactly half full, just to the right of it. After calling to complain AND going back to the office to show them the picture I had taken they finally reversed the charges with the excuse that they probably "read the gauge backwards." I asked them to explain what that meant (last time I checked half a tank is half a tank no matter how you look at it) and was told "well, sometimes the full side and the empty side are reversed on the gauge." I think that speaks to the competency of staff this location.

I recently moved and was stunned by my experience with Uhaul. My reservation was wrong, The location that I had the reservation with forwarded my information to another location (on the opposite side of town) because they did not have the truck they promised, without consulting with me. I then received a call the day before pickup letting me know of the change and this ended up costing me much more as a result of mileage. When I picked up the truck, I was told I had to have it back earlier than what I was promised over the phone and would have cancelled, but I had no time to find another option. They got me this time, but never again!!!!!

I gave this business the benefit of the doubt after reading the reviews. I proved myself wrong. The communication over the phone for terrible. The man taking my information managed to hold an argument with a fellow employee all the while when I was on the phone. I twenty minutes later to cancel my order and follow up with some different questions. The young lady that took my call, was extremely slow and couldnt answer the simple question, "Do the trucks have locks on the storage compartments?" Extremely unprofessional. Save your time, energy, and plans for a different location.

I called and reserved a truck for 24 hours. The call center told me to call this specific location and confirm that the truck would be available. I did this and was told, the truck would be available and my reservation was confirmed. The following day I received a call that I could only have the truck for half of the time I requested it for, thus making my move impossible. Person I spoke with was unhelpful and didnt offer any alternatives, just waited on the other line for me to tell him he could cancel my reservation.

The young man made a nice effort to accommodate my needs closer to my moving location although the 4 x 8 was not available at this location (I walked in without reservation so my bad) Did have a reservation at 160 Layton and 4 x 8 was ready and trailer worked nicely.....safely. The young man at the Layton location was also very accommodating and helpful in hooking up the trailer I had reserved. This was my second move with U-Haul. I am quite satisfied with the service.

We took out insurance on the vehicle, returned it and received a call the next day that the dolly was missing. Was told I would be called back after things were figured out and then got an email that said I was charged 75 dollars. I called back and spoke with the manager Vince and was told there was nothing he could do about it. He then blamed me for the incident.

I have purchased supplies and services from this UHaul over a number of years and I ALWAYS receive great service from the staff. I always find the supplies I need, the prices are decent, and I would recommend this store to friends and family.

Vince was very personable. He explained how the hitch worked. We disussed world events in the short time while we waited for the paperwork to be done. The equipment worked well except for the blinkers they never worked for me.

Dont go here. Employee swore at us and didnt help at all. Refused to even give us his name. Tried to change the time of an already confirmed truck days before we are moving. And manager Vince doesnt care at all about helping.

We called to ask a question and before we could finish our question they hung up on us. They told us they give us our paperwork outside in a rude tone. Also gave us a truck with no gas in it considering how far we had to go.

If you had a bad experience you are likely a jerk, i was in and out in 10 min, smooth as silk. The staff was polite and covered insurance, breakdown etc. I would use them again no problem.

If you need to use a truck make sure to go to the Penske on Prospect. They are much nicer, with larger trucks for a cheaper price. I listened to the other reviews and am so glad that I did.
