If I could I would put negative stars.. Last week I found a Honda Accord on Craigslist and called the number which was to Hontech. Both the receptionist and owners wife/Lorraine told me the owner/Joe Carney was not available, nor would he call me back if I had questions; come see the car and per Lorraine He/Joe stands by his cars. The next day, Oct. 17th, my son & I went to the shop and met with Joe, who said verbatim The car is solid and It needs nothing. I explained This was a big decision, Im a single parent on a tight budget and said I stand by the car. I explained to him that I had called to ask him about the car but was told No, hes busy and he wont return your calls. He said Ill return your calls. Based on all of this and the fact that he was Honda mechanic & shop owner of several years I purchased the car. On Sun, the 19th, I noticed several drops on driveway and upon inspection by a separate shop the next day, found out the car needed over $4k worth of work to be done. I was devastated. I contacted the shop and again was told by Lorraine that Joe was busy, wouldnt call me back and I could bring the car in. When I did, much to my dismay Joe was visibly not happy to see me. His response to the list of items was You shouldve taken the car in for an inspection before purchasing the car, The car was sold as is and I never told you that I stood by the car. When I responded that I trusted him because of who he was and because hed given me his word that the car was solid with no issues, he became irate. He began screaming that You shouldve known better, How would I be able to make any profit on the car if Id done all that maintenance, pointing and yelling he said to my son YOU shouldve known better. At this point, Im ashamed to say, I started to cry which is when he said Get your stuff get your car and leave or Im going to call the cops. Things calmed down, said said hed do some maintenance to the car and dropped us off. He ended up keeping the car over the next 3 days. When I tried to speak with Joe on Friday Lorraine said No. I explained that he said it was okay to call and he said hed call me back. She told me to shut up several times, she said You are a liar, You are bullsh@# and even hung-up on me. Regardless of their bad behavior, I never yelled or used profanity in my dealings with either of them but the whole time I was mortified that people, especially those with an established business, could treat others with such disdain and disrespect. Shame on them. Please be warned these are dishonest people out to make a quick buck and are not the mom and pop shop they profess to be.

Hontech has lost my trust completely. The first incident was when they worked on my 2000 Toyota Corolla to replace some front end struts. When I got the car back it was making a grinding noise when braking, so I took it back. It turns out Hontech had given the car to another shop to work on ( a shop across the parking lot that has several 1 star reviews) and never checked the work that was done by the other shop. The struts were so loose the front end almost came apart. Hontech had it fixed after I brought it back and told them what was going on. The second incident occurred with my Honda CRV. Hontech told me I needed new brake pads as they were at 35% and less. When I took it to another shop I was told the pads were 40-45% and were fine for at least another year. When I confronted Hontech about the faulty diagnosis they blamed it on a technician who they said was working with his friend in the shop to perform unnecessary brake pad changes, but who was no longer working there. The third and final incident occurred with an oil change for the CRV I had done yesterday at the Honda dealer. Hontech had changed the oil the previous several times and they claimed that they changed the oil filter as part of these services, but the dealer told me the filter was old and dirty and had not been changed for at least 10,000 miles. I simply do not trust what Hontech tells me anymore and am having my vehicle serviced at a different shop.

Straight up, real talk? Very knowledgeable mechanics that can see what a part is and for what vehicle without having to research it is my type of dude! Because it was a small part for a radiator, he said all other places require a full radiator assembly replacement BUT he had left over radiators from previous customers and found me that trans cooling line nut. For how much was that part that no one had? FREE!!!! F-r-e-e. If only I got his name but I did shake his hand and thank him. First time I stopped by too so I definitely got an amazing first impression off of them.

I found this place a few years ago when I moved to the area. I have always had Hondas, so I was happy to find this place. They are a family run business. They are fair, honest and just provide great service. They have never steered me wrong. In the beginning, I got several estimates on a few issues and they always came out even, but usually lower than their competitors, and MUCH lower than the Honda Dealerships. When my AC broke, they charges me $1,600 less than what Honda wanted to charge me, for the same parts. If you have a Honda (or Acura) this is the place to go.

This is a nice local shop for my vehicle. I first stopped in as my alternator just died one night before the whole car died. They had me get it into the garage to lock up overnight and had it fixed the next morning before lunch. Now Ive been in a few times for a good amount of work. I never feel pressured to fix anything that doesnt need fixing, they are very direct about what needs attention, and how much it will cost. The free candy and Coke memorabilia is an added benefit.

Very pleased and highly recommend Hontech to all Honda owners. Owners Joe and Lorraine are 2 of the most honest and professional business people in the car repair industry. Took my sons 02 crv for high idle diagnostic. Joe was so honest and told me to take crv for more computer diagnostics to the Honda dealership and did not charge us for initial visit. Thank you Joe and Lorraine for your help and honesty.

I have been going to Hontech for years. They only work on Hondas and Toyotas. It is a family owned business. They are almost half the price of the dealer on most service and repairs. Taking pride in their work is a priority. They never sell up or over charge me.
