Started as an employee at National Automotive Repair on April 27, 2015. Randy McLaughlin the owner referred Leahs Towing Company to move my big SNAP ON tool box to his shop National Automotive Repair. The owner/driver of Leahs Towing Clayton (Chuck) Barrett came to pick the tool box up at my residence. As he was loading the box on his truck he damaged the tool box by bending the caster under the tool box by pulling it up quickly with the wench instead of bumping the front wheels up slowly on to the bed with the wench. I followed (Chuck) with my box on his tow truck to National Automotive Repair. I spoke to the owner Randy McLaughlin when I got there about the situation with my tool box as soon as we arrived. The owner stated "we will deal with on Monday" which was my start date as an employee of Nationa Automotive Repair. On Monday, the Snap On dealer that I had dealt with before, I had him take a look at the damages and give me a repair estimate. After the estimate I contacted Leahs Towing spoke to "Chuck" who is the owner operator to let him know the dollar amount of the damages he caused, he told me he does not have INSURANCE, nor would he give me his insurance companies name. After talking to Chuck I went to speak to Randy who is the owner of National Automotive Repair. Randy stated "what do you want me to do about this"? I said you referred this tow company - Leahs Towing, which damaged my tool box which you were made aware of the damage on Friday and said you would deal with it on Monday and now you said what do you want me to do about this??? I said you referred this tow company that states they do not have insurance to move a tool box. Randys reply verbatim was "COWBOY UP, and figure it out yourself". Why would you want to take your vehicle to a business that operates this way and treats their employees like this on the FIRST day of employment?? I worked there for 4 hours and I can tell you first hand they are not a well oiled uniformed company. They use inferior parts and charge you for top quality parts. They use generic fluids and say they are top quality fluids.I showed up on Tuesday May 5th as agreed with Randy McLaughlin for the pay for the hours I worked, he refused to pay me. He stated that because he paid for Leahs tow bill he is not going to give my earnings that are due to me. I am out a minumum of 2000.00 to fix my tool box out of my pocket because of the no insurance issue and someones recommendation. I do not recommend to any customers to bring their vehicle to National Automotive Repair thats claims 5 STAR service when in actuality they are a 1/2 STAR shop, or to use Leah Towing. The people up front at National Automotive Repair do not know how to order quality parts or look up correct labor times per job, so you might be getting ripped off and not know it because you think you are taking your vehicle to a quality shop, which is far from the truth because their employees are untrained and uncertified technicians, which is one of the reasons I left on the day I started employment there.

I had some reservations when first walking into the office space - the two men working were both on the phone, and clearly frustrated with their respective calls. It took a couple of minutes for either to acknowledge me. "Still, they have the best possible rating around," I thought, and waited. It was so worth it. The serpentine belt & tensioner arm on my 95 Caravan had been squealing periodically. But this past trip (Alabama to Arizona) had really taken its toll. The noise had escalated from every once in awhile at stops, to every stop, to even doing so at highway speed. It definitely wasnt making it back across the country. The fellow dealing with me said hed get it done by the end of the day! I had figured on the usual rigamarole of "Well, well have to order parts," etc. He then asked if I wanted to be taken anywhere to wait things out, rather than having to wait in the tiny office. The man, I learned on the ride back to my hotel, was Randy himself. I told him of the glowing reviews online, and we made small talk. They called after a couple of hours to give the quote and suggest any other work: one of the radiator fans had gone out (not surprising: wed replaced the other one earlier in the summer). The price was about what wed expected. By 4:30, the van was completed, and absolutely purring. No more squealy belt, and the a/c even runs better now that the engine is staying cooler. Im really glad we happened up on National. Randy runs a good shop that does quality work at a fair price. The friendly banter & "cab" service pushed them over the top in my book. I hope we dont have car trouble next time were in Phoenix, but if we do, well be back.

My mother had me post this for her (over 50, what can I say?) I have been using National Automotive Repair for maybe 8 years? After nearly 40 years in the Valley, I found "people who help me take care of my car" rather than a "good mechanic". Generally its just oil changes and regular maintenance. A few times it has been a pretty big bill. And if that occurs, they explain why the repair needed to be done and what options are available.(It is STILL less than what I paid dealers or other chain repair stores. And they guarantee their work.) We cars that we drive forever. The Hundai has over 200,000 miles. The driver seat belt stopped working when my daughter was a new driver. One of the guys went to a junk yard and got me a replacement, installed it so she would be safe. He did that without asking,, didnt charge me extra. If I have ever a question about a noise thats coming from the car or a light comes on-- the guys have me bring it right in, stop what theyre doing , and give it a quick look. This past week I needed to have it towed after being stranded at work. It was after hours and Id called to let him know Id leave it in the lot and then drop off a key the next morning.. Randy came in at night, got the key from me when the truck was parking it--how did he know that? It ended up being a weird battery thing. They even got a replacement from the auto supply store for me (the paperwork for the 9 month old battery was in the glove box) and did a thorough check to make sure there was nothing else. I like that Randy, Jake, and Jorge know me by name and laugh at my bad jokes. They seem to be continually up-training their staff and it shows!

I was new to the Phoenix area in 2003 and in need of auto repair. I use to do all my repairs, but am now retired and do not have the work space any longer. A friend suggested National Automotive. The cars service engine light was lit. National was able to get me in the very next day. I presumed it was going to be some time before they were through, and left after dropping the car off. National called me withing an hour, to tell me the catalytic convert was toast. They also informed me that the converter was covered under an extended warranty. National took it a step further, they provided me with the service location and name of a contact to get the needed warranty repair done. For this they charged me nothing. National did not hear from me again until summer of 2007. My recently out of warranty Chrysler T&C had AC problems that the dealer had been unable to resolve under warranty, and was once again out of freon. National was able to schedule me for next day service, on short notice. A leaking evaporator buried behind the instrument panel was the problem. I was informed in advance what the repair would cost, and there were no surprises. As of 2/16/2009 the AC is still running like new. August 2008, the T&Cs Electronic Control Module just went out. Once again National was there, and put me comfortably back on the road. Need I say it? National Automotive is the first place I call if Ive got automotive problems!!!
