I had an overall horrible experience. This place is infested with bugs and ants and did not feel comfortable staying there with my infants. There was an advertisement in the mail for a coupon for a free oil change if we brought at least 10 cans of food for a food drive. In good faith we brought over 10 cans to get the coupon for future visit to Midas only to hear that all Midas locations do not participate in this event. So I decide to get the roadtrip check and an A/C diagnostics to find out why my cars A/C stopped working. After waiting 2 hours I decide to call Midas and see what was going on with the car. After calling The manager Bill tells me that my car is about to finish their diagnostics in 3 mins and he will tell me what needs to happen from there and didnt want to talk about prices over the phone (Red Flag). I immediately walk over to the Shop and they tell me the car is all ready to go and filled the car with Freon without my permission and charged me $160. I was expecting them to give me the choice if I wanted the Freon and prices but forced me since they had performed their job. I did not receive any type diagnostics sheet for my car if it was roadtrip ready or not and to top it off 30 minutes after driving away the car starts spouting out hot air from the AC. I call Midas and get scheduled on Friday for an appointment even though they attended my car on Wednesday. On Friday they take about 2 hours to tell me that there is a hole in the AC unit and all Freon escaped the car and will be over $700 to fix. I told them they should have caught the problem in the first place instead of charging me for a year warranty of freon that was put into my vehicle without my permission. I then asked why I there was freon still left in the car when I brought it Wednesday but there is none when I brought it in on Friday which makes no sense unless they made the hole. Then I told the attending manager that they only needed to put in .6 kg of freon and he stops me and said that my car only takes .2 that was another big red flag to me since I was charged for .6 kg! If they were interested in actually fixing my car these problems would have been caught the first time instead of just giving me the runaround and making me miss work because of this. I will not return to this Midas because of the lack of integrity. I wanted to go to Midas because it is advertised as a place of mechanical experts and quality service but I did not receive either.

I will start out by saying that I will never use a Midas or recommend a Midas to anyone after my recent experience at one of your local shops. Steve is the manager that I dealt with - here is my story. Had an appointment setup for my girlfriends car to have her brakes looked at and replaced due to recent grinding.. Dropped the car off Saturday morning and Steve called me about 1-1/2 hours later with an estimate of close to 1100 dollars to replace all brake pads, rotors, and the front calipers. I couldnt understand why this estimate was very high and why the front calipers needed to be replaced. I did a couple google searches and called a few other local brake places and the informed me that calipers rarely needed too be replaced.. I told Steve he was crazy for giving me an estimate that was over double the 2 other local shops that I called. He then told me to give him ~30 minutes to see if he could do anything about the price. He called me back about an hour later with an estimate close to 900 dollars still insisting that I needed to have the front calipers replaced.. I then told him that I wanted a second opinion so I picked up the car and took it to a place to have a free brake inspection. Upon arrival at the other shop they jacked up the car, took off the tires and inspected the brakes with me.. 2 mechanics couldnt see a single thing wrong with the front calipers but did agree that it needed all new pads and rotors. HOW is it that I had all new pads and rotors installed for half the price and I didnt need calipers like Steve insisted that I needed???? SOUNDS LIKE SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICE TO ME!! I will be contacting the local news, writing horrible online reviews for Midas. I hope you guys can learn a lesson and stop trying to take advantage of your customers! Shame on you.

UPDATE 6/6/15: After my initial review, the manager of Midas contacted me to try and resolve my discontent of my last visit to his shop. He offered to price match a written estimate from another auto shop and refund me the difference I had already payed. I brought in a quote from a nearby shop that was $200 cheaper, but Midas was only able to refund $70 due to a difference in parts. Im still not completely satisfied since I still ended up over-paying by about $130, but I do appreciate the manager calling me to try and settle things. They didnt have to give me anything back, but he seemed genuinely concerned about the service they were providing and was very professional (I no longer think that were intentionally tried to rip me off). Id give these guys a 5 for customer service and professionalism, but Id still say they are pretty pricey. Moral of the story: ALWAYS ask for a price match for any car service, even if you dont think you have any leverage to bargain. EXTREMELY OVERPRICED. My car wouldnt start and I had it towed to Midas based on its good reviews online and because they were the only shop open late in the area. I ended up needing to replace my starter for a 2007 Honda Civic, which they charged me a whopping $600 for. I was in a tough spot since I had already towed my car there and didnt really have the means to take it to another shop. I called and asked for quotes at several other shops in the area afterwards, and every other quote was half of what Midas charged me. The guys there were nice enough, but I really feel like they took advantage of my situation.

BEWARE!! Dangerously over tightened the screws on my wheels. Falsely told me I needed new FRONT rotors saying couldnt be resurfaced (they were either lying or just plain inept). Rear brakes improperly adjusted and not properly lubricated. I was in there on a Saturday had an overall break checkup and the rear brakes done. When I had the front brakes checked a day later at mile high (a very reliable dealer) they said whoever put my wheels back on, over tighten them so much that it was dangerous (metal shavings came off the wheels when loosened). Apparently the the tools used to tighten the tire bolts need to be calibrated regularly. MIDAS told me that I needed new rotors and brake pads costing $350. Mile high Honda was able to resurface my rotors and do the whole brake job for $165-- because of this I did not trust Midas to readjust the rear brake job they did (because after I got the new brakes they were still squealing), and mile high Honda did it for me. After Mile High did my breaks everything worked like a dream . Even though I called back Midas to tell them about their horrible service, all I got from the manager on duty (I believe his name is Josh), were a bunch of twisted manipulative and evasive responses rather than accepting any kind of responsibility. In addition, every single black person that walked in to the shop while I was there was told that they needed to come back later, yet every other person that was non-black was accepted for service. Whats the matter with these people?
