Moving from Texas to Oregon mid Nov 2010 in our 2006 Land Rover LR3, our oil light appeared just east of Denver. Thinking it was low oil or a idiot light, I pulled over and checked oil, it was low.Filled it up and took off again, 10 minutes later, oil light and engine light on.....Pulled over and it seemed there was more oil then before..We finally made it to a hotel in Longmont, heard a low knocking in engine and was stressing and nervous. I did research on Auto Repair and Carworks was # 1 on the list and great reviews. Called a tow truck and took it to Carworks. I dealt with Mark the whole time through this stressful event and he took care of us like family. We ended up flying out to Portland two days later and left our car behind for Carworks to do their job. They found out the oil pump was clogged up and it was not getting oil throughout the engine..We are blessed it did not do any other damage to the engine.Everyday I was in contact with Mark and he contacted my father also. Carworks did an amazing job and treated us like family. ( Even Mark brought our extra luggage, pillows, blankets, and food to our hotel before we left to fly out to Portland.) They explained to us it should of never happend on our model and since it was 2006, more of a freak accident. 3 weeks later I sent my dad to pick it up and bring it to us! It survived the mountains and snow! Our Rover works great!!! The Jeffrey Family is very blessed to have broken down in Longmont, CO and meet the Carworks Family! I highly recommend Carworks of Longmont, I wish there was a Carworks of Hillsboro, OR !!! God Bless!!!!

Tend to price gouge. I brought my 2003 Hyundai to Carworks. In the past they quoted the best competitive price to replace my front axles and they did a good job. This time, my radiator was overheating. They said that they would charge $120 to do a diagnostic on the cooling system. They took off the radiator cap and tried to attach their pressure tester but it would not hold because the radiator was too worn with corrosion and gunk. They said that I would need a new radiator and then would be able to determine if I needed anything else. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THEY WANTED $576 TO REPLACE MY RADIATOR WHICH WAS OVER $225 MORE THAN THEIR MOST EXPENSIVE COMPETITOR. Competitors ranged from $275 to $350...All reputable local Longmont shops. I cancelled the job and brought it to a competitor down the street. When I picked up my car, at first they wanted to charge me $99 for simply taking the car into the shop, taking off the radiator cap and attaching a pressure tester. 15 min of their time. I convinced Steve that this was excessive and they backed down to ~$67 (still a rip off in my opinion) Mark, the service mgr. was the one I dealt with most of the time. Every time I challenged him on how much he was charging me, he kept replying: "We are in business to make money" And that is very true they were excessively greedy in this case and give the impression that they will milk you for whatever they can get."

Both employees I spoke with were highly condescending and unhelpful. I had an appointment for 8 AM, and they didnt look at my car until about 1 PM. My check engine light came on, and I was charged $85 to diagnose the problem. This diagnosis consists of plugging a code reader into the dash and interpreting the code. I thought the price was excessive, but it might be about standard for car repair shops. However, the mechanic claimed I needed a new thermostat and coolant temperature sensor. First of all, there was no evidence that the sensor was broken, so this seemed like an unnecessary repair. But even if I did need a new sensor, I was still lied to. I was told the sensor would cost $80 and the thermostat $40. Anyone can verify online that these prices are outrageous. I was able to find the parts for $25, and $10, respectively. They also intended to charge me $200 for the repair labor. I looked on YouTube, and the repairs each take about 2 minutes, provided you have a socket wrench. I saved about $250 by declining the repairs offered at this shop, and I could have saved another $60 by just purchasing a code reader myself. I know it is relatively typical to overcharge at a repair shop, but the overcharging combined with the rudeness of the employees will keep me from ever returning to Carworks of Longmont.

Went twice, Because of all the Good reviews I saw on here!!!!! what a load of crap!!! Boy was i wrong, they overcharged me and the first time they didnt put my car back together right, the guy even told me on the phone "steve" said my guy forgot to put something back together right that was causing all these code malfunctions, then when I bring it back in he wants to charge me even more they are cheap skates just like most mechanics ive dealt with maybe its the nature of the beast, enough they took me for over a $1000 thanks alot for taking food off my table and books off my shelfs! not much different than a lawyer they prey on people when you go in there you really need to know "exactly" whats wrong and always get the quote signed and in writing no phone bullshit they tend to overcharge! just like all mechanics! BEWARE! Will not be returning to this business and i would highly advise against it, and i wish i would had read all this before. Yeah there prices are lower but so is there quality. That simple.

Ive been a customer of Carworks since August of 2001. I appreciate the excellent service and positive, friendly environment. They always call and explain what needs to be done to my car and how much it will cost before they do the work. They discuss possible options with me, and if there is a decision to be made about doing the repair at the time or if it can safely wait for awhile, they explain that. I trust Carworks because they are reasonable in cost, fair, and honest with me. Theyve never repaired something that doesnt need to be repaired. They go the extra mile to make me feel like a valued customer. And they have really kept my car in good mechanical condition. I know because Ive rarely had a serious problem that wasnt caught before there were major problems. Thank you Carworks for your great service!

My husband took his car in after it wouldnt start, to find it out it was the alternator. One day later his battery died, we had to buy another one, and it was because the workers at Car Works FORGOT to make sure the alternator was plugged into the battery. Because we lost an afternoon of work to figure this all out and get everything fixed, we asked for a free oil change. They denied this and wouldnt apologize for totally inconveniencing us and providing bad customer service. For every car issue I have, I will pay extra to send my car ANYWHERE else.

I have both my business and personal vehicles serviced at Carworks. I have been using them for several years and have never been dis-satisfied in any way. They have done from an engine replacement to oil changes and everything in between. Just because the task may seem simple (like an oil change) I prefer to have a professional technician do the work, rather than someone at minimum wage with minimum training and/or experience. Yes, it really DOES matter what fluid is placed in my brake system when it is serviced! Thank you Carworks!
