1. Merchant was referred to me by AAA after our car quit on the highway, they were also the towing company in this case. I called them the next morning after and Walt told me that they had some good news and some bad. The good news it was fixable but the bad news that it had a shorted coil pack and it needed to be replaced. He also advised me when one usually goes out it would be good to replace them all. They were going to also pull the intake manifold and that was going to be a job. I asked him how much and he said around $1,226.57, Coil packs $136.00 ea. X 6 = $815.00, Spark plugs $5.25 ea. X six = $31.00, Gasket set $26.00 ea. X 1 = $26.00 ea., Labor at 3 hours $275.00 Tl. I thought that was a little high so I said I have another job that needs to be done on that car replacing the transfer case and could he give me a price on that, he said I will price it out and give you a call back. So, I checked pricing on the coil packs and they were 73.79 each X 6 = $442.74 for Ford Motorcraft coil packs. When he called back I asked him if I could supply the coil pack and he said no but could give me a better price on them which came out to be around $1000.00 I then said just tow the car to my house. I talked to the owner of Joyce Automotive as well today and he did admit to, in his words grossly under documented the Diagnostic check and went on to tell me the car was running when it left the shop. When it got here it could have not been running due to a coil pack wire disconnected front bank and wire taped up bare in the same connector. All coil packs check out good per ohm test as well. They failed to state that there was a blown fuse they replaced also. I plugged in the coil pack that was disconnected and the fault was still there and would not start. I also want to add, The owner stated that they replaced the bad coil with a used coil pack which I was never told, They replaced the blown fuse which I was never told, Walt told me over the phone when giving me the estimate that it was a rear coil pack but the owner told me over the phone it was an front coil pack, this is significant because you would not have to take off the intake manifold to replace the coil pack which involves more labor. Keep in mind if this was the case the front coil pack being replaced it’s only a five-minute job and all you would need to do is replace one coil pack not six. I was led to believe it was a rear coil pack and the diagnostics were wrong because it was not listed on the paperwork giving to me which lacked any useful documentation and was grossly under documented. I did the whole job for $522.8 in parts all coil packs and 1.75 hrs. of labor. Sincerely, U.S. Navy, Veteran Disabled, Retired Electrical Engineer B.S.E.E. Controls Engineer of 35 years Automotive Sector I have noticed that anytime there is a negative review the Owner writes a 5 page narrative on how much there are in the right, like there perfect. That alone should raise red flags, no one is perfect. Instead of doing customer service like it should be done, taken care of the problem he writes untruthful notations to make his business look good. UPDATE By the way you may have won the battle but I did win the war, Thanks to the relentless effort on my part as you will see I did get my money back from AAA and they thought your way of working with your customers is unacceptable. We will see just how long your rating stays good with the BBB and how long your able to keep the the sign up thats says AAA. Never under estimate your opponent!!! Anyone else thats has a problem in the past or in the future be sure to notify Triple A with your complaint.

Well i thought i would share my experience with Joyce Automotive. I bought a turbo porsche and drove it for about 2-hours and then it popped a radiator hose. I called Joyce the next moring to pick up the porsche and repair the radiator hose. They were there promptly to pick it up and began working on my car immidately trying to get it back to me by the weekend. Unfortunately, it required a part in order to properly repair. I told them to just put it back together with the original part and I would drive it easy so as to not cause the hose to pop loose again. I told them i would pay for the additional labor to do so. They did and told me to come get it for the weekend. When i got there they said there was a problem... I was like uh oh... Apparently a parts truck had backed into my porsche while it was in a bay being repaired. It damaged the tail light and paint. Joyce was extremely appologetic and aggred they would take care of the cost to repair it and they didnt charge me for the labor to put it back together. Now mind you once the part came in for the repair of the radiator hose they would have to tear it down again replace the part and put it back together. I took the car home and didnt get 2 mile before the hose popped off again.. GRRRR!!!! I limped the ole porsche back to them and left it until it was fixed. The part came in the following thursday and they replaired it. Once repaired they called me to come pick it up. I got there and they told me it was all good and here are the keys? I told them that i havent paid them yet and they told me not to worry about it, they are terribly sorry for the delay and the trip to the body shop. I dont know if you are familure with porsche rear engine cars or not but getting to the faulty hose is not picnic. Joyce had some pretty good amount of labor in this to repair not to mention the replacement parts. All of which they swallowed because of the mishap with the parts truck, who incidently, they are forwarding the repair of the porsche too. I highly recommend them for repairs because of the honesty and integrity that was displayed during my situation. This could have been a battle between us but it wasnt. They could have charged me for the labor and parts for the repair, but they didnt. You dont find that kind of company very often.

Im a truckdriver and recently I stopped at the McDonalds at hwy. 92 and Combee Rd. in Lakeland for a quick required lunch break, per D.O.T. law. As I came out of McDonalds, I was met at the door by a man, who am ask if I was the driver of the tractor trailer. After I informed him that I was, he informed me that I was illegally parked, and they had hooked to my trailer. He then informed me it would be $375 to drop my trailer, cash or com check only. I told him that the signs in the parking lot posted on the light poles said no unauthorized overnight parking. He then informed me of the signs of NO TRUCKS, that were on the very east end and front entrance were located. Unless you were looking for these signs, you wouldnt notice them. Trucks have been parking there for years to grab a bite to eat. And considering there isnt a truck stop on every corner, your choices are few to none. Yesterday I observed one of Joyces own trucks illegally parked at Wendys at the Grove Park Shopping Center. His truck was parked in a way that impeded incoming and exiting delivery truck traffic from moving freely through the parking area. I observed the driver as he what appeared to be on his break, walk in and out of Wendys, socializing with a Wendys employee, following her out of the restaurant to the trash dumpster. I feel like I was watched as I went in to grab my lunch, and as soon as I went inside they hooked to my truck. A very lucrative money making operation. Would not recommend Joyce Wrecker Service because of this incident. I ask the driver, cant you just drop my trailer? And he informed me, it cost him money to run his trucks, like it does mine. I said a warning would have been sufficient. Thanks Joyce Wrecker!
