My granddad always see if a bar is fair on prices based a on well shot of bourbon. And i have found you can judge the honesty and fairness of a repair shop based on simple services such as an oil change. Well today i walked in to midas asking for an oil change and the guy at the front desk who called over his mechanic told me to get full synthetic oil was 90 to 100 dollars! and half regular half synthetic was 70- 80 dollars. I wanted to ask him did he think i looked like an idiot or did he think because i had a nice car and im black he felt like he could rip me off. He told me i couldnt find anywhere else cheaper which gave me a good laugh then i went to my regular shop and got full synthetic for 48.17 thats with tax (im not making this up) came home to write this review to warn all the women and old people to stay the hell away from this shop. I wasnt born yesterday i have had an oil change before and if you pay 100 dollars for an oil change you are being raped. Go somewhere else. Im not giving away my shops i have spent years trying to find so they are always clogged up with people but if you look you can find some decent places to go it for cheap, but i cant let some of you suckers out there be conned like that. Heed my advice or just start burning piles of money on the streets because thats what your doing anyway. PS i saw them pealing tires in a car they pulled of the rack, im not sure if it was there mechanics personal car, or a customers but with dishonest prices like that it wouldnt surprise me at all that they are hot rodding fast cars, it was a black and yellow mustang. IF you had it in the shop today i hope you see my review and have a word with them. 06/22/12 i was there about 5pm they pulled it back into the bay to work on it some more maybe a customers maybe a mechanics i dont know and honestly dont care, ill never be back. ALso the 9 minit lube beside them is a bit pricey but the man seemed very honest and is way cheaper then midas, if i could afford it i would give him my business to help support local shops

The manager Moe was awesome! My son and I walked in, he greeted us immediately and asked what was going on! I explained to him that my car was making a funny noise and was trying to get back home to Nashville. Moe immediately asked for the keys and went out and pulled my car forward, backed it up and pulled it in the garage. Moe then came back in the waiting area and explained that the sound was horrible, but was having the guys look at it, he stated that he was pretty sure what it was, but wanted to make sure first. Moe went to the garage and brought back the wheel bearing and stated that it had gone bad and that it would have to be replaced or I wouldnt be able to go any further, I had asked home how much it would be and he called up the part store to ask. Moe came back stating that it was $320 plus taxes and other fees, at that point, I was doomed, so I contacted my parents (my dad is a mechanic, but out in North Dakota, so he pretty much knows fair pricing), my dad advised me to go ahead with it and get it replaced, so Moe stated that he would take a payment over the phone! Not only did Moe go above and beyond for the payment and making sure that my son and I were safe on the road, he even went online and found us a discount, which took care of the taxes and fees! I will definitely be returning again to get my car serviced with Moe and his team at Midas, because any other place would have taken me for a ride, because I am a woman and because they can charge for every little thing! I would highly recommend! Could not give this place, Moe and his team enough stars!

The Midas on Southland Drive is the place to take your car!! They are so friendly. I felt like I was at a little hometown shop. I sat there for a few hours getting my car fixed and they were so friendly to EVERY walk of life that came into the door and offered extremely fair prices. They treated their costumers great, so that they would come back and spread the word. I actually had a hard time finding somewhere to take my car. I am 6 months pregnant and the other Midas on New Circle sent me away, this Midas was MORE then happy to help me out. The repair guys even took the time to sit with you and explain everything to you. My husband had his breaks and stuff done there and was really happy with the work. They dont try to sell you anything you dont need either. I have been taken advantage of at places in the past because I was a women, but this place is GREAT! Truly friendly people who really want your business!! What else could you ask for out of a service shop? Anyway, I recommend it!! It was a great place to have my car fixed at, and they are truly great people that work there.

Took my vehicle there to inspect the brakes and find problem with the parking brake. "Moe" told me I needed a parking brake kit as the shoes were gone. He also said I needed new pads & rotors all the way around. The total came to $1000. Foolishly I authorized the work. It took them 3 whole days to do this work. I took the vehicle back the next week complaining of an loud clunking sound from the right rear. Moe said it could not be the brakes and to take the car home. I returned a 2nd time and asked him to look at the right rear where the sound was coming from. He refused. I said I was going to take it to the dealer and he said Do Not Take It To The Dealer. Moe said drive it 3 more days . He also told me to quit using the parking brake. Problem turned out that Moe never worked on the parking brake he only "adjusted" it and the sound was from me driving with the parking brake on. This guy deserves to be in prison. Moe and is crew are well known to the Better Business Bureau. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. They couldnt fix a Ham Sandwich.

I have taken my car there for oil changes several times, and they always do decent work. I just dont trust them with anything more than an oil change, and I wont even be going to them for that anymore. Beware of the up-selling! If you go in for an oil change, I can assure you they will find something else wrong with your car and try to sell you on some ridiculously overpriced repair. I have had it happen twice now that they tell me I need significant brake repair only to be told by a more reputable mechanic (one of the highest rated shops in Lexington) that I was being taken advantage of. Most recently, I was told that I needed new calipers, rotors, pads, and shoes (to the tune of over 600 bucks). My other mechanic laughed when he saw the estimate. He looked my car over and had me out the door for around half of what Midas quoted me.
