This is a critical assessment of the auto-shop. The rating would be a 4.2 out of 5. First, the Negatives: Over the phone I received an estimate for $30 less than the standard price to fix the vehicle. Having a friend do it would cost $200 less than the standard price, (no warranty and just bad idea in general etc). I have received an estimate before-hand for $90 over standard price by an untrusted mechanic (non-Jefferson affiliated). Jefferson notified me that the estimate may change when I bring it in. The actual estimate was for $50 over the standard price. After the work done, the estimate changed to $80 over the estimated price. Jefferson also charged $80 more than the price for all parts combined, I never asked why (should have). Jefferson said they changed some small parts, when they didnt. I can recognize the old part. The mechanic didnt tell me this, only the representative, so its possible for miscommunication. Jefferson reported the vehicle to have "problems" after being fixed. This is not true, it runs great now that they finished repairs. It was most likely notated for insurance reasons, and they did run into problems during working on the vehicle, but when finished, i was asked to sign a document saying it still had problems. I signed without question because I just dont fight every battle. Second, the Positives: Maybe as short as I describe the positives, they won a customer. Their staff looks like they can work on cars confidently. No storage fees. Reputation high enough to work on police vehicles, paramedic vehicles. Despite the odd behavior to cover up price/ change price/ etc, they did work equal to what I paid. They have key mannerisms that define a good mechanic, a trusted mechanic. I wont list all the mannerisms, since the bad mechanics would read this and learn how to fool others better. I give my stamp on a Legit Fair Mechanic Shop... for Jefferson Auto Services. They offer a fair deal, and fair deals are worth more than someone who aims to pocket money. In the end, I paid $90 over standard price, and there were "problems" that justify the extra amount, asking for extra favors after the estimate already made, not related to the direct repair. $90 more was justified, so I paid the right price to repair the car, no more, no less. Conclusion: Jefferson could do better with telling accurate information about repairs (some parts said to be replaced, were worked on, but not "replaced", just improved). In the end, if you paid them, they worked with that money. The price will be standard, not what you see online, but an estimate that lines up with other local trusted mechanics in the area.Their shop is also clean, and spacious. Walking in there and looking around, I could tell that my car will be fixed the best it can in the covington/ mandiville area. I know that if I ask for more, I will pay more, and get more. Jefferson is great for securing a reliable car. This was a critical review. Good shop to go to.

An earlier review summed up our experience. "Overpriced and DISHONEST". 1. We were quoted a price for an oil leak. They fixed a small oil leak for $1500 and then said we needed another oil leak for $5000 but only after theyd done the first part of the work. And how is it that such a large leak goes unnoticed until after theyve completed $1500 worth of work. If its that bad, then why couldnt it be diagnosed during initial diagnosis? It is trickery to hook you into spending $1000s of dollars with them while they have your car torn apart. 2. They claim to have called several times throughout the process. I reviewed my call log at work and on my cell phone: no calls except one. All others were made by me. 3. They claim an oil cooler takes 21 hours to repair. Open heart surgery takes only 6 hours. REALLY????

I brought my vehicle in for service. They explained the problem in great detail and worked with my budget. They had me back in my vehicle that day, which was a lot sooner than I expected. While I was there, I noticed that there were some corporate fleet vehicles and law enforcement vehicles being serviced, which says a lot for their reputation. I would definitely recommend Jefferson Auto to a friend!

I noticed the two ratings frim July 14th and November 19th were for L&L Auto Repair and not Jefferson Auto Service who took over this location in September of 2009. I took my car there because I heard new owners took over this location and had a very nice experience. They took care of my car in a timely manner at a great price.

+1 star for cleanliness and presentation +1 star for no problems one year after repair, regarding repair. Always a good thing. +1 star for the repair itself +0 star due to overpricing for service recieved. +0 star for dishonesty.
