( ( ( ( 3 STARS ) ) ) ) ) I have rented from this storage unit for nearly a year now. 08/2012 to 03/2013. The staff is very helpful and nice. The grounds are well kept, well lit and safely gated. I did feel that my things were safe; however... it wouldnt be too much hassle for the person in the unit next to you to take a ladder and climb into your unit to steal things because there is a 1 1/2 foot gap at the top of this 10 ceiling between units... There isnt any available trash cans so be prepared to bring your own to store inside your unit. Honestly though future renters, the things mentioned above are nit picking... the ONLY reason Im writing this complaint is because they rented me this unit under the impression that my rent was not going to go up (at least for the 1st year). Well a few short months into my year-long stay, these guys hiked my rent up ((( $20 ))) dollars!!! If I didnt have so much stuff to move I would have transferred rental facilities immediately, just to show them I wouldnt put up with their shenanigans! Buuut as they must know better than I, its simply too much work to do for a measly $20... so I stuck it out. A plus though; I took my new found issue to management and they DID knock off the up-fee ONE time for me. The thing that got under my skin was the fact that these people dont ever warn you that your ((( Promotional Period WILL end SOON ))). Thats a dishonest scam in my opinion. They know dang well that we arent going to move everything we own to another storage company over $20. Sucks... Anyways my renting peeps... If it werent for this little scam they are pulling with their unsuspecting clients then I would totally give these guys 5 STARS. But because of this rip-off scam I choose to rate them at only 3 STARS. So I have learned my lesson yall... * READ YOUR SMALL PRINT!!! * ASK QUESTIONS!!! * GET THE EMPLOYEES NAME!!! * COVER YOUR BUTT and if this company doesnt change the way they do business then I WOULDNT RENT HERE!!! I rented for just over 6 months and it was a great experience. No issues initially and putting items in and taking items out was a breeze. The coding for the gate, cameras and lighting made me feel my items were safe. When I moved out last week I did receive some attitude on the process. Since this was my first time renting, I hadnt any experience to draw upon. When I thought I had the process correct, I asked for clarification and was spoken down to. Maybe this individual was having a bad day. I also told him that my items were water damaged and there was salt all over items. He said it must have been from a water leak prior to me renting. When I informed him I had dried salt marks to prove it happened after I put my items in thier unit, he said hed look into it. No appologies! I ran over to take off my lock and instructed this same individual that I was out of the unit and would like a refund for the remainder of the month. He messed up the paperwork saying the refund would take 3 - 4 weeks. To my surprise, it showed up on Monday, less then 7 days from cancellation. Much appreciated. They need to have more patience with clients as we dont have the same knowledge base as they do. Ill be back with hopes of that individual having a better day.

I felt secure for the most part, except for one dreaded weekend when I needed my lawn equipment (a Billy Goat vacuum), but when I got to my unit I found much to my chagrin that the staff had accidentally put an extra lock on my unit that was intended for the next unit because they were delinquent on payment. I called the national number and the local number, but could get no human being to resolve the problem. The manager took care of it on Monday (no rent rebate or anything, just took his lock off), but I was out a very valuable weekend time slot for my yard work, and so was forced to do it evenings in the dark after work, since I was going out of town in a few days. Not a bright spot in my experience, and it still ticks me off when I think about it. Then there were the continual rate hikes, going in a 3 year period from around $80 to nearly $150, all at a time (2008-2011) when property values and local taxes in Canton and Michigan were all decreasing. Id still go back for the right price, but only for a short-term temporary solution, and only if I was desperate. Id only go short-term, because of the confiscatory, common-sense-offending rate hikes. And watch out for those weekends.

Ive been a customer at Extra Space storage for about a year now and have been very impressed with the customer service. Joe and Dick have gone above and beyond for me, several times, especially when I was in need of another storage unit quickly to store my growing home staging inventory. They keep the grounds very clean, safe, and well-maintained..theyre always available and responsive.. and, overall, theyre very nice guys. I felt very safe being there, any time of the day or night. I tried other storage units but none of them really compared in service or friendliness. Theyve been a part of my journey as I grow my business. Theyre visible, approachable, friendly, courteous, and helpful. I highly recommend Extra Space Storage in Canton, Michigan. Youll get clean units and fabulous service.. as well as a wave Hello or Goodbye from two gentlemen who care about the service they provide.. and who truly care about their customers. I stored one of my vehicles at this facility and my experience was very positive. Dave and the gang were always friendly, on the premises when I visited or needed to talk with them, responded to any issues or concerns I had within 24 hours, ran a very clean operation, and were always very professional. I found the facility to be very secure, I never had any incidents with regard to the security of my vehicle or the storage unit, and I never saw any situations that would lead me to believe this storage facility was vulnerable to a security breach. The facility was always clean and orderly with someone on the site to watch over operations during business hours. I would definitely recommend this storage facility to anyone who has something of value that you want to securely store for any period of time. I would like to extend my kudos to the staff of the facility for doing a great job of maintaining customer confidence in an outstanding facility.

Im Very Happy - This has been a very nice experience for me. First off, this place has the BEST sales process Ive ever seen (wow) & from the people on the phone to the email reminders and great website that shows you all of your information, Im really impressed. I can pay on-line and the facility is nice, clean, well lit and has a 24 hr access keypad/gate. Everyone that Ive worked with here was great & the units look like theyre on-par or cheaper than the other units in the area. Well done to the nice folks at Extra Space Storage. Thanks!
