Extra Space Storage in Farmington Hills on Grand River Ave has several similar storage unit facilities within a few miles, providing many choices and options for selection. Including one directly across the street, one around the corner and three more, a mile or so down the road. This gave us the opportunity to compare based on availability, price, quality, cleanliness, security and how professional and accessible the staff was. After comparing the 3 facilities close to Extra Space, it was an easy decision, first of all Ron, his wife made the decision easy, they were professional, knowleadable, experienced and offered us the best advice, rates and location for our needs. This included the first month free, there $50 dollar referral program and even call to remind you 5 days before your payment is due if you forgot one, to save you a late fee ! Our search criteria for a storage unit was based on the security, how well kept it was, the climate control inside and outside storage options, ranging from 5x5 to 20x20,,,,we know since we have used them both…and when we downsized there inventory of options was always accommodating! After looking at 3 of the facilities within a mile, it was a easy decision…the professional manner of staff, the security of the site, the clean and organized property, the options for units inside and outside and of course the price….they WON in all categories ! Of course a company is only as good as there people and the extra space facility in Farmington Hills is a 1st class choice, worth the drive and we would recommend to anyone from a business owner to a family with home furnishings…. Agree with previous poster (think it was Steve) my price has gone up past $100 . I started out at 60 over 3 years ago. The price went up $10 in the first 2 years(which is tolerable) then the female manager comes in and price went up 30 in one year! Dont come here, they will rip you off and nickel dime you. I will be going else here. I can get a 5x10 for $50 I have priced it already. Also, they will not work with late payments (agree with Steve again) be 2 months late and your stuff will be gone. A week late, you will have a lock on your unit you cant get off if they are closed. I am a truck driver so I had a 2 month agreement with previous management to pay (was easier for both of us) bc I like to pay cash. Also the gate hours are no longer 24 hours: (which besides the ok price was the reason I came here) so they revamped for the worse so I hope they lose a lot of customers.

I have a climate controlled unit at this site. While the Extra Space guarantee is that the temperature will be maintained between 55 and 85 degrees, in my experience the temperature varies much less. Ive visited on days when the outside temperature was below freezing and when its been close to 90 and I was very pleased with the temperature and humidity levels. There have always been carts available when Ive visited and the aisle ways are wide enough that it is easy to navigate the carts. You can pull your car or truck right up to the door for loading and unloading which makes the job easier and quicker. My overall impression of the facility, and the climate control buildings in particular, is that they are clean and well maintained. I suppose the biggest compliment I can give this site is that I feel very comfortable having my possessions here.

By far the best storage facility I have ever been to. Ive moved around a lot and have rented with other storage companies (storage USA, public storage, uhaul, etc.) but Ive never received the personal care and attention before like I have at extra space. Stefanie was very professional, personable, and informative, and answered all my questions and concerns. I was hesitant at first at getting the insurance because didnt think I really needed it, but when she explained the benefits of it, especially the in-transit protection, I was sold and felt very much at ease knowing that if anything were to happen to my belongings they were covered. I would highly recommend extra space to anyone who would be looking for a storage company and definitely refer them to Stefanie if they have any questions or concerns.

The climate controlled units are really nice and have 2 doors to break through and a staircase before any intruder reaches the units. Ive met the people in the office a few times, and theyre all pretty decent people as far as I know. Its a little expensive to be there for me but the price reflects on their services and security. I had a terrible experience moving out of an apartment with abusive landlords, and was at my wits end after 6 hours of sleep within 3 days. And then I lost my storage unit keys. When I got there a few days later to get the lock cut, they certainly perked up my spirits. Jokes were flying around and I had a great conversation with Bill about our experiences traveling. It seriously made my day!

I have been using this storage for the past two years from my experience its overpriced i have a 10x15 climate control i started at 106 a month and now its at 156 a month also the management has change for the worst the couple that i started a lease with were very nice and willing to work with you the new management has been nothing but rude i get about four calls a day if im one day late pretty much what i`m saying is that there are cheaper storages around and the quality is about the same maybe not gated but under lock and key for the money not worth it if the management was nicer and willing to work with you and not harass you i would give a better quality

Worked with Darnell here last week, was very helpful. I was at first nervous to come in and ask questions as I knew I wasnt quite prepare to commit to a lease and needed information before committing to a rental. With that Darnell was very knowledgeable and walked me through all my options with his company and made a customized suggestion on what would be best for my situation. I didnt feel pressured and Im left with a favorable impression of this company because of Darnells stellar customer service. My final decision has been made and I will definitely refer my friends to extra space to go see Darnell!

I have had a storage space with Extra Space Storage for several years. Beginning with the initial rental through emptying the space a couple of days ago and closing my account, the staff and company have been fantastic. They were accessible, helpful, and accommodating. The space rented was in a controlled environment and every time I went to the storage space no matter the season or outside temperature the space was at an appropriate temperature. If in the future I have a need for extra storage space I would definitely consider using Extra Space Storage again.

I have two units at extra space and have had a fantastic experience setting both up. Stephanie and the rest of the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the prices are very reasonable as well. One day I was moving a large cart full of boxes up to my second floor climate controlled unit and Stephanie happened to be walking through the building and waited for me to hold open the doors while I pushed the cart through. Theyve gone above and beyond my expectations at every opportunity.
