I am not one to normally go online and give bad reviews for service, however with the case of Merit Chevrolet - its warranted. I only drive Chevys, and always will. I moved next to Merit about 4 years ago, and being so close found it hard to drive to a differnet Chevy Dealer. My negative view is not based on a single experience with Merit, but rather 4. The first time I went there was for simple scheduled maintenence. While they completed the maintenence, it took them 3 extra days with my truck, it came back filthy, and the service writer was one of the rudest people that I have ever dealt with. They refused to clean the greese of the inside of the truck and basically told me to pound sand. I paid the bill and went on my way thinking it was a case of someones bad day being taken out on me. Second visit - was contemplating buying a new truck and went to talk with them about trading in mine towards a new one. This was in 2006, I had, at the time a 2003 Chev Avalanche - loaded, leather, roof, the whole nine. No body damage, no accidents, clean title. They offered me $6700 for it, yes $6700! I needless to say left, and went to Stillwater Motors (chev dealer) and purchased a new truck and recieved $23k on trade for mine (stll below NADA but they dealt on the new one too - so a fair deal). I again figured this was simply the salesmen and sales manager being greedy and dismissed it. My last two visits - dealing with the service manager on my 07 silverado LTZ. Mike (service manager) was by far the rudest, most condesending jerk I have ever talked with in my life, I had the truck over there to get the computer reprogrammed (other small stuff as well) and it did not take the first time, tried to bring it back to get it fixed and was told the work that was completed was handled correctly and I must have done somehting wrong with it. Right - I went in and reprogramed the dealer-only-program module and screwed around with it - not the case. On top of that my truck came back full of greese again, filthy, with a large scratch down the side of it (which naturally they said was there, but was not - I am a clean freak on my cars and take too good of care of them). I didnt find it worth my time to argue with them, rather I paid the 300 bucks to have my fender fixed. I would STRONGLY recomend, based on my multiple experiences with many different people at the company that anyone reviewing this take their business to ANY OTHER chevy dealer in the metro. I have had great luck at both Stillwater Motors (best service to date here) and also Polar Chev up in Maplewood. From now on, even if gas is $10/gal I will happily drive accross town to stay out of Merit Chevrolet, if my truck breaks down in my driveway (yeah right - its not a dodge) I would pay three times more for a tow to a different dealer.

Well, I purchased a very expensive suv from Merit, and after not taking delivery I decided I did not want the vehicle. So, I paid for the vehicle signed the paperwork and literally did not drive the vehicle off the lot because I asked them to apply an undercoating (which they didnt do) as part of the deal, then I came back a week later to take delivery. After careful deliberation I thought the vehicle was to expensive and told my salesman. He said I could not refund the money and take the vehicle was the only option. At this point the manager of sales was involved and fed me the same story. I said fine, took the vehicle, after seeing that the chrome finish was already flaking off the doorhandles I brought the suv in to have them replaced. I spoke with the service rep. and he said it wasnt covered on the warranty, and my response was that the vehicle is under 30k miles that it shouldnt be happening! My salesman, at this point completely avoided me instead of sticking up for me, he still made his commission so wtf! They couldnt even get the license plates to my house right, so I went into the dmv myself! This experience proved to me that Merit isnt about the people even though I bought a $25,000 vehicle from them. They want your business and thats it, helping you as a customer after that fits the exact role of a used car salesman. No stars if possible

I started shopping for a new Silverado pickup equipped with the new High Desert package in mid April. After having had a less that positive experience shopping at my local Chevy dealer I ended up giving Merit Chevrolet a shot, and Im very glad I did. From my initial visit when I first started to gather some information on choosing the right truck to taking delivery last week of our factory ordered truck I left impressed and completely satisfied after every visit. Jason Wolske, our salesman was outstanding in his efforts to help us. I had a lot of questions in purchasing a new truck and in addition to dealing with Jason I also dealt with Ron Hogan, Chad Dubois, and Shane Axel. Every one of them took the time to answer all of my questions and offered great advice in choosing the right truck for our needs. When it came time to finalize our deal Glen Orehorsky did a great job of helping us with the financing. We would highly recommend Merit Chevrolet to anyone who is shopping for a new Chevy. Chris Rinkel has put together an outstanding team of employees who really know how to treat their customers with respect and put your trust in.

Seriously terrible experience. Went here to have some work done as part of a GM ignition recall on my Saturn Ion and was told the work would cause no cost whatsoever to me. The work was done, I picked up my car, and went home. The next time I tried to start my car with my automatic starter, it no longer worked. I called in to see if Merit would take care of this, and the guy at the service department told me they wouldnt make any attempt to remedy the situation, because the starter was purchased after market, even though I was never told that it would potentially break my remote starter when I brought my car in for the recall work. He then forwarded me to a manager, whos voicemail I got, and I left a message with the situation and my contact information. I have not been contacted since, and would not return there for work of any sort. To me, its like going in to have your radio fixed and then finding out they break your air conditioning in the process of fixing the radio and when you confront them, they just shrug their shoulders.

Im very wary of city businesses, coming from a small town in WI where you know whos working on your car and they bend over backwards to help you out. I came to Merit a couple times, one time opting out after a diagnostic was done (quickly and accurately) to go to another place with a better deal on the work needed, but actually ended up doing the exact same stuff for the same price at the end of it all. So the other time I took it in after my car was having issues, it turned out my transmission was cashed and several other things needed attending to soon. I was in a tight spot, so they told me what I NEEDED to have done (transmission), and what I could hold off on. To cut the long story short, after some miscommunication and slight discrepancy, the business ended up bending over backwards to satisfy my needs and leveled with me in a way that made me feel like I was back home again. I trust these people and months later, my new transmission is working just fine! P.S. Jessica W. and Mike B. know their stuff!
