Edit/Update: Issue was resolved completely. Went back to have them fix whatever was wrong and had a great experience. The manager personally oversaw the process and was very polite and courteous in addressing everything. He assured me that if there was ever an issue in the future to simply come to him to address any issue and he would take care of it to the best of his ability. It was covered in the warranty so the service was at no charge and the car was finished very quickly. Obviously it would have been nice that this whole thing didnt happened in the first place but they took it very seriously, I appreciated that. Ill admit I was a little harsh below but I think its natural to overreact when you expect one thing and then get another and dont understand whats happening. All in all, Im glad everything is resolved and that the manager was polite and as courteous as he was. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Over the years Sears Auto Center was always a place me and my family could rely on for good quality service and a good experience. This is no longer the case. My family and I went into this branch to get my brakes checked out which had begun to squeak during soft braking and also to get my oil changed. Given that work had been done on the rear brakes recently, we had the warranty that would cover the repairs if it was indeed the rear brakes. First off, the associate we dealt with was mediocre; he had a poor demeanor and we asked him to call a specific number to reach us which he wrote down as shown in our vehicle intake form and appeared on the final invoice, yet, he contacted the other number on the account. Luckily for me, they were with me and were able to relay the news that my car was done and could be picked up no later than 5:30 PM. Second, lets revisit "Done" We showed up, signed what needed to be signed and then left. There appeared to be no issues with the car, but at the same time my home was very close so I can see why I didnt notice anything right away. The next day I drove across town using the highway and by the time I arrived the squeaking had resumed, AND ON TOP OF THAT, now there was something clearly loose in the front drivers side wheel well. Im not a professional mechanic, but I know the sound of something loose as we all do. This was wrong. I cant believe the service I received. I didnt bother to check these reviews because of the good experiences I had in the past. Now, I have no idea how safe my car is to drive on the highway, I dont trust these people to even fix the problem if I confront them and I feel like I wont even be able to get my money back. Thanks Sears, I feel like Ive been robbed.

On November 18 my tire was damaged by hitting something in the road on a major highway. I replaced the damaged tire with my temporary spare and drove to the nearest Sears Auto Center which was in Maplewood. The rather unfriendly customer service advisor told me they would not be able to even look at it until November 22. I drive about 450 miles per week and could not wait that long, nor could I drive that far on a TEMPORARY spare tire. I drove to a small, local tire shop nearby and asked them to look at the tire. I planned on just paying out of pocket for a $20 tire repair. They showed me that the tires sidewall was damaged, making it irreparable and did not charge me anything. I called Sears Auto Center in St. Paul and explained the situation. The unfriendly person on the phone said I needed to bring them the tire so he "could see it and figure out what to do with it." I brought them the tire where they informed me that they would have to order it directly from the factory and would arrive between November 23 and November 26. I ended up having to buy a used, replacement tire that would be safe to drive for a week. The replacement cost me $55. I waited and waited for Sears Auto Center to call to tell me my tire had arrived. Finally, they called to tell me that it arrived on DECEMBER 13--over 3 weeks later. I drove there and they apparently hadnt planned to mount/balance it. The told me I needed to setup an appointment for that. So I set up an appointment for 2pm--3 hours later. I arrived early for the appointment and was informed that it was going to cost me $42.04 to have the tire mounted and balanced. I questioned that and was told that the road hazard warranty only covered the cost of the tire. I had to show them the fine print of the warranty coverage to convince them that the mounting and balancing was covered by THEIR warranty. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes for them to mount and balance the tire!! In the process of mounting and balancing the tire, they damaged the paint on the rim which will have to be re-painted. I was so frustrated at this point that I didnt even mention the damage they caused. Needless to say, I will NOT be doing any future business with Sears Auto Center.

My car was pulling to the right while driving so I brought it in to get an alignment. While they were filling out documents to prepare everything, I glanced around and happened to see a poster advertising $99 for a oil chance, tire oration and alignment. I was about to pay $89 for just the alignment. I decided to switch to that good offer (wish the guy would have offered me that in the first place) Ok, fine and dandy. Lets get to the good (I mean bad, lying, dishonest) stuff. I left it there and went to the zoo. About 2 hours later, they called me saying they couldnt do the alignment because I needed a new ball joint and without that ball joint repair, an alignment is impossible. I know nothing about cars so when I arrived, I asked for a quote on the part and the repair. They said for the ball joint, it would be $175 plus about $100 for labor. I thanked them and left. I went to ORileys to see how much they charge for a ball joint… $25!!!!!! When I pulled out the quote to show them what Sears said, they were surprised. Then I brought the car to another mechanic. He said he would charge $80 to put the new ball joint in (okay, $20 difference). I left the car and went home. He called me a half hour later and said, "Your ball joints are fine. Why did you think you needed a new one?" I told him and he said Sears auto people were scheming me, trying to make money. So, long story short- Some people at Sears Auto Center lie, and jack up prices, Dont go there.

Not sure what was up with the guy who was helping us. Anyways I came in to Sear Auto Service to ask him something about why the car was making this strange loud noise, and what should I do about it. He was rude by the way he directed his questions to me, and he was being very sarcastic about the situation. He didnt seem like he knew much about customer service or how he approaches customers with concern rather than jokes. He was very abrasive and mean and joked around about where we parked the car, why does it matter that the car wasnt parked infront of the front door??. He even complained about walking a few feet to it to check to see what was wrong. The guy lied and said he couldnt do anything and refered us to Midas which they were closed, but anyhow he told us they open till 5pm monday - sunday. We went to Midas to find out the place was closed.... Bottom-line I reported this guy to the BBB, "Better Business Bureaus," and they refered me to some organizations down here to talk to about this, I will also call the manager of the place and complain as well. I warn people to stay away from this old man with glasses, you will know whom I am talking about because he is very sarcastic and rude. All the other employees that work there are fine but the guy whom is to be anonymous is very rude. I reported him and he should not be there much longer. Customer service comes first, not the other way around,..
