Watch out ladies... a bunch of scammers and crooks working in the service department. I took my car to get an inspection done there. It passed the emissions test but they said it failed safety test. They told me two things were wrong. I asked the guy to write down exactly what was wrong so i can tell my husband and my mechanic. He refused which immediately had me suspicious. When i went to get my receipt there was a print out with eight things wrong. I took the paper and left and went to my mechanic. My mechanic checked the vehicle and could not find anything wrong. We went back to pep boys and asked the mechanic to explain what exactly was wrongwith the car. He denied what originally said what was wrong with the car and tried to point out something different. My impression was that he tried to take me for a fool and get me to pay him to fix my car which didnt need fixing in the first place. He refused to pass my car.... i took my car to another place and it passed fine... i cant imagine how much people these guys are pulling these stunts on and its a shame for them and the company. And quite frankly there needs to be some sort of reprimand for these guys at this particuliar store. I will never buy anything from there again or will i take any of my cars back.

One gentleman was very friendly and asked if I needed help and told me what oil was better for my car. On the other hand I asked a woman about deals on antifreeze and she could only tell my that flyers are in the front... when I figured out which one was best for me I asked where it was and she pointed to the back. I found the antifreeze section but not the one I needed. I went back and asked if she could assist me and she just said if its not there we dont have it... all of this is understandable to a point but its just the was I was spoken to that I didnt like. Its almost like Im bothering her by asking g for help. Very annoying. People shouldnt work in those positions if they dont know how to talk to people or at least act like you care and Im not annoying you. Worst part is that I think she was one of the managers! At least get an employee to help out! There was barely even people in the store so no one was busy.

So, I went to this PepBoys store in Jamaica Avenue and at first i was very impressed, everybody was very professional and everything was very clean so I thought I was in the right place, my car had the check engine light on and i needed to fix it but I was not sure what the problem was. Well yes they check the car and they tried to make me pay $1,100.00 dollars because they said they needed to replaced 3 different parts on the car to turn off the light, i asked them to please show me the 3 parts that needed to be replaced but they only show me 1 part and not only that, the guy dont even bother explaining me what was wrong with the part, so at that point i decided to go and try in a different place and guess what, i found a place and they fixed my car, the problem was a rubber hose disconnected. I end up fixing the car with only $80.00 dollars.. Customers beware!!

I took my car into this Pep boys to get an oil change and wheel balance. I left with a messed up battery terminal that cost me $180 at my dealer to replace. When I took my SUV to Pep Boys I had 2 perfectly good battery terminals, after a day or two my car would not start when my husband looked under the hood he noticed the rubber cover for my positive terminal would not fit over the terminal any longer, when it previously did. After examining it he noticed it was a completely different terminal than what I had before taking it to Pep Boys. I decided not to get "burned twice and took it to my dealer who replaced it with a new correct terminal that someone at pep boys removed and added a very loose terminal to mt car which was causing the car to run on the alternator to potentially mess it up. They will never get my money again.

I have been going to this pepboys for a few years now. Usually I am there to buy an air filter or get my yearly inspection done. For major repairs, I go to a different mechanic. They have always charged me fairly. During my recent inspection, they passed the inspection and didnt making any long recommendation list like most shops do. They just gave a receipt for the work and thats it. Waiting time can be long depending on when you visit them but thats probably something they cant control too much. I would say most people have positive experience at this place. There are only a handful of customers with negative experience but they tend to be the ones posting reviews.

These funnies, sold me the wrong part for my car. Then later someone that works at another store told me that some sales guys do that, so that they can get sales commission.Which is great for them and a total waste of time for customers. So when I went back to the store to change my part, I was told that they do not have that part in stock. HOW ABOUT THAT? --reason why this sale guy sold me something else just to make commission. I drove really far just to get to this store just to be tricked? If you buy in this store, bring the part with you, so you can compare with the original. Otherwise you will end up with the wrong part, and waste of time and gas money.

I used to work at Pepboys in Long Island City and I only came to this one because it is closer to my house...BIG MISTAKE. The customer service at the Parts Counter is horrible, and then when it comes time to pay and cash out, cashiers stand around looking at you, but dont call you to cash out, and sometimes even walk away. Frank and Miranda and Venesha were always readily available when I used to work at 21st street location, but no managers are even seen at this one. Bad experience shopping here, and I would rather take the 20 minute drive out to Long Island City to be taken care of than wonder aimlessly around the store.

Great experience with these guys as I purchased and installed four tires from them. Frances was extremely helpful as she was able to order the tires from the warehouse when none could be found in the other local Pepboys stores. Ram was the guy I dealt with at the service department when I brought my vehicle in and was a pleasure to deal with, even the guy who did the tire install was courteous as well! I will go back here again even though there is a Pepboys closer to me, but unfortunately they dont seem to display the same professionalism and service as they do here.
