I rented a storage unit and a truck. The storage is the cheapest available - so I guess I got what I paid for. 1. The location is hard to find without GPS and far from public transportation. 2. They advertise 24 hour access to storage units and even will tell you to your face that there is no extra charge for 24 hour access, yet when I arrived one day 5 minutes after 7pm I couldnt get in. I called the phone number on the back of the access card and they told me that 10pm access is $5 more per month and 24 hour access is $10 more per month, and that even if I paid it the next day it wouldnt take effect till the next month. So, they wasted many hours of my time on two separate days by knowingly falsely advertising free 24 hour access. 3.They charged me for gas even though it was filled. If you read the reviews on their website, it seems they do this often. 4.Apparently, I got a parking ticket with the truck. I didnt get the ticket, never saw it apparently. 3 months later, a collection agency called me about this ticket I didnt know I got with uhauls rented equipment. The ticket was for $115(hydrant) and by then was raised to $145 with late fees for non-payment. Uhaul got the ticket, let it accumulate a late fee, paid it, then sent the bill to a collection agency - ALL WITHOUT EVER CONTACTING ME. They have my phone number, email, and an emergency contact. 5. I had a check sent for my storage from someone else in his name. I have successfully paid them this way 3 times immediately prior to this. Someone from their accounts receivable department called me to say they cant cash the check. When I asked why, they could not - or rather would not - give me an answer. So I asked them to destroy the check and Id come the next day with a cash payment. The day after I paid cash, they cashed the check. Luckily, he was able to get his money back but through considerable inconvenience to both of us. 6. There are late fees. I never had late fees at a storage before. 7. The employees make it very clear that they do not get paid enough to care. So, be aware of all the BS you will likely go through here. Its cheap. Thats the only good merit the storage has. But DEFINITELY rent your truck somewhere else. Budget is half as cheap.

I moved to New York City from Michigan. I rented a Uhaul truck, and paid over $700 for the truck rental. So I got a free storage unit for the first month. I signed up for the first month for free, and after the first month it costs $250 a month (which is outrageous). (As a side note, the chick that signed me up was totally rude and mean, not customer service orientated at all, however, I looked past it since I was getting a free month). On the U-haul website, it stated this storage unit is open 24 hours a day for storage access. So today, I went to the Uhaul storage center to retrieve some of my items. I showed up at about 6:45 PM. To my surprise the door is locked. I look at the door, and the business hours say they are open until 7:00 PM. I went inside to ask the girl to open the doors. She rudely cuts me off halfway through my sentence and tells me they are closed. I told her, "Your sign says you are open until 7:00, and it is only 6:45, also, your website says you have 24/7 storage unit access." She simply IGNORES ME. So I wait for 45 minutes until 7:30. Not surprisingly, there are still 4 employees outside cleaning trucks out. I ask for the owner of the business, and a man that identifies himself as a manager approaches me. I proceed to tell him what happened, and he tries telling me that the sign on the door says they close at 6:00, like I cannot read or something. At this point I am INFURIATED that their customer service is so horrible, especially as I am talking to the manager. The manager had absolutely no regard for his employees behavior and customer satisfaction of his facility. He simply dismissed my concerns. Not to mention I am paying $250 a MONTH for this unit! I expect $250 a month in service! Down the street is a Public Storage that costs $215 a month for a 10x10 unit instead of $250, AND their facility is open until 9:00 PM daily. No tricks involved there! Oh one more thing, they are supposed to give you an access card when you sign up, but guess what, THEY ARE ALL OUT AND HAVE BEEN FOR 2 WEEKS. This is the worst customer service I have ever received from ANY business and I hope that Uhaul Corporate fixes this facility!

U-Haul as a corporation is a corrupt organization looking to squeeze every extra dollar from you they can. After I supposedly got a night parking ticket for $65 from NY City, U-Haul paid it and then now wants me to yak $96.50 for it. First of all, I never saw a ticket on the rental truck including the windshield wiper. Second, U-Haul conveniently doesnt notify you later that there is a "ticket," but rather they just go ahead and pay it, thus you lose all ability to fight the city on it. Then the cream on top is they get some firm in Florida to collect on that debt, for which they charge a $30 fee, which is about 50% of the "ticket." When you call U-Haul you get the run around, then some lady (who is the same one, after I called 2 different times) who sounds like she hates the world curtly tells you theres nothing you can do. They also bend you gently over the proverbial barrel once more, asking you to pay a $2-4 fee to pay by the only payment methods they offer. This is all supposedly spelled out in the rental contract so beware. The clowns that work at this woodside location checked everything in and out of the truck when I returned it.. so they didnt see a ticket either (or he purposely didnt alert me which is very possible since they made no effort to call me either to notify me of the ticket. Avoid U-Haul like the plague if you know whats good for you

The ladies behind the counter on pickup were great as were the guys in the lot. The first truck had an issue with the roll-up mechanism on the door and they got us a different truck fairly quickly. The pick up experience overall was quite positive. The return experience has been a whole different story and BEWARE! The general manager,WHO CALLED ME THIS MORNING from the contract info, was impossible to deal with and kept insisting that the info I had was erroneous and that we werent in the computer. MORON ALERT! She called me!!!! How do you think she got my number? The phone book? IDIOT. They have not checked in the truck yet, which mean that they are going to try and soak me for extra time and fees. BEWARE OF THIS! Not going to happen either, I can assure you. Bottom line: They are great on the way in when they want your money, but a nightmare on the return after they have it.

The first thing i felt when I walked in at 7:45am to pick up my truck was neglected cause there were more than 5 employees around but no one bothered to wish a simple Good Morning". Obviously only 1 counter was accepting people even though there were 2 other people behind other stations. But after a long 10 minute wait, I was a happy camper cause 2 of the women to actually assisted me with my truck were super nice and even though I walked out of there with a 17footer instead of a 20 footer, I walked out smiling. Great effort and care from both those ladies.
