I had Charter since I was a kid. They used to be bad and sketchy with their services; however, it has improved over the years. If you ever have to call the 1-800 number, always talk to a representative! Even the people at the store will help you to the best of their abilities. Ever since I moved to Boone last year, I had excellent service with the company and they were fast on fixing the problem. I had issues a few weeks after moving into my apartment and my internet was being throttled, outages, etc. They were out at my house by the next day to remedy the problem and stayed there to ensure it was working properly. After my roommates bailed and stuck me with bills in April, Charter actually worked with me on the bills and were pretty easy to deal with. This is the best internet service in Boone and the outage complaints are likely because of the outdated apartments that plagues Boone. I had to get new lines installed into my place, because of how outdated the lines were in my apartment. The only complaint I would have with Charter is for random outages from time-to-time, but even then--that wasnt a big problem. It would be out for a few minutes or a hour at the most, unless it was a serious issue.

Beware if you own your own equipment if it is a Motorola. On multiple occasions when I have had them come out to my house in boone and when I lived in Hickory when my internet was having problems they would try to take MY EQUIPMENT claiming it was theres. Then when I prove its mine they say the exact same line EVERY time "Oo ok I thought only charter gave out Motorola equipment". What in the world? I bought my stuff from BEST BUY. Its not like Motorola only sells through charter! They straight up STOLE a modem from a friend of mine pulling this same routine by walking out the door as they left with his modem in their bag. When he realized what had happen the guy was long gone. He called and they said there was nothing they could do about it and he never got his modem back. BEWARE charter will try to steal your equipment as well as the things these other people have mentioned. There is a reason they are bankrupt. Please let them go out of business!

Charter Spectrum is aware they have very little competition in Boone. Recently, my internet bill was increased from $40 per month to $70, which is infeasible for a college student. I called them to request the previous rate for another year, but they refused. Instead, I received a call the next day from an employee trying to offer me additional services for an even higher rate. They will often insist that you can afford the increased rate when you tell them you cant (?!). They will call you multiple times each week from different numbers and aggressively try to sell you additional services. The only positive is that there are no data limits. Its really unfortunate that Charter Spectrum is essentially the only option in Boone.

I have been trying to order Charter internet since 4-1-16. When the tech came out the first time he was very rude, did not introduce himself and spent more time talking to my neighbor than to me. The tech then tells me that I do not have the right cord ran from my power line and that I will have to wait for up to 3-4weeks to have someone come and run some wire. Well after 2 weeks I called charter back only to be told that another tech had came out and that I did have the right wire. Rescheduled again for today only to be told that they will not be here again because they called the wrong number by accident even though they are supposed to come regardless if the phone is answered or not. So fed up.

Disappointing customer service due to Charters policies, not the people answering the phones, who were polite. The internet service was mostly reliable and fast, though occasionally seemed to stall. Prices per month increase ~$15 at the end of the first year contract and another $20 per month at the end of the second year contract without any improvements in service. The company seems not to see the problem with this. Runs like a monopoly in that theres not a lot of competition or options to switch; you might check for AT&T after the first year, which is cheaper after the first price increase kicks in for Charter, but doesnt offer month-to-month.

I called and continued to hit 0# until I got thru to speak to a person. The girl was very helpful and friendly. I also had a great experience when we set up the service and the staff in Boone was great. The only complaint I would have is that they dont let you know when the service contract is over and a new rate will be applied and be more expensive so it is beneficial to keep up with the dates yourself. Not sure about the other users but we have been very pleased with Charter and found it to be less expensive than Dish.

Be aware.....not only do they NOT answer the phone, but YEARS later, they will hunt you down through a collection agency stating an amount is due on service that was not even in my name....and where did this information come from almost 5 years later???? And - now - I cant get Charter to confirm this past due amount from - again - 5 YEARS ago in another persons name but with my name being used by a collection agency ---- because CHARTER WONT ANSWER the PHONE!!! and Im no longer in Boone....!!!!

Going up on internet again. $65 a month just for internet. No phone, no cable. Oh theyll give me a deal they say. Just bundle with us they say. Yet when you do, they put you on an inflation plan and screw you over. Oh but theyll give any new customer (college students) a decent price on internet just to get them hooked. Im tired of paying for someone elses deal. Dont bother with the local office. Theyre rude, cold and all but tell you to suck it up.

Our internet never works and they disconnect us even though we have paid, it has happened now TWICE. Boone needs other internet and cable services because Charter doesnt know how to run a business. Their phone service people are horribly rude and the whole service is over priced for what you receive, which is bad internet and disconnected cable. Plus we have called to have them come fix our wireless and no one ever showed up.

I called today to have my seasonal cable service restored to regular service. The call was answered by a representative within 30 seconds, she was able to quickly locate my account even though I did not have account number and efficiently restored my service. Overall, I have been very happy with Charter service in Boone for several years.

Although they can at times be sketchy connection when bad weather hits, for the most part it has been extremely fast internet. I do believe that their customer service has improved over time. I am overall happy with my service.

The customer service is absolutely horrible. I have the highest speed package and it is still unreliable and not fast in comparison to other companies. Avoid charter if at all possible.
