This is the only cable company Im aware of that has monthly data caps for every internet tier, and it actually gets proportionally worse with the more expensive plans. On the lowest plan (5 Mbps, which still costs $50/mo), you get 250 GB, which means if you max out your bandwidth for 5 days, youre over your cap. The fastest plan is 20 times the bandwidth but only 3 times the data, so you could theoretically be over your cap in less than 18 hours. Although they wouldnt confirm or deny it, I believe my internet was being throttled (less than 10 kbps) for several days after my wife backed up about 10 GB worth of photos. Theres no upstream cap, but I suspect it triggered some penalty meant to discourage torrenting. Theres nothing in their terms and conditions about that, but they didnt offer any other explanation. They (and therefore you) do a lot of filling out forms by hand and mailing them. It took two round trips through the mail to get my service set up. You call to request a form, which they fill out and mail to you, and you fill it out and mail it back. Thats just to get a technician to evaluate the feasibility of wiring your house. Repeat the process to schedule the setup, and youre finally at the point where one phone call would have gotten you with any other cable company. I know everybody hates their cable company. I was certainly no fan of Time Warner, for all the usual reasons. But they were cheaper for the same bandwidth and no data caps, and I never had to mail anything. Service Electric is basically stuck in the 20th century in every way that matters. Update June 2016: Everything costs more, imagine that! $60/mo for BOTTOM TIER INTERNET.

When I first subscribed o the triple play package , it was a decent deal. The prices are now outrageous and my once platinum internet is slower than the highest tier. Service goes out frequently with only 3 people in household. I dont want sports or music channels. I want my local channels (WBRE, ABC, WNEP, NBC and WVIA) , The Weather Channel and The CW, AMC. Sci-fi , NatGeo, Destination America, FXX and a few other like Science Channel, BBC, FXM, The travel Channel, MSNBC , CNN, and TLC. Because there are repeats of the same programs all the time I have NETFLIX and Amazon streaming. Both of which are slowed by the slower speed of the internet. I can get all my local channels online and watch what I want on my paid streaming programs. I really do not know if I am going to continue with your services as the price increase has done nothing to improve my internet speed or viewing enjoyment. I have choices and really do not need a home phone as we all have cell phones. Pick up the pace on internet speed and get rid of the crap I do not want. Your price increases as I have said have done nothing to improve my experience with your company.

They rip customers off knowingly. My example is a personal experience. If you have Motorola modem that they were giving out up until about a year ago and you pay for any Internet package over 15mbps your being ripped off because that modem has a 15mbps limit. You are paying to receive more and the customer service rep will blame it on your pc. After arguing and threatened to sue they finally admitted their fault and tried to cover it up by giving me 3 months credit as if they covers the 2 years that I have been dealing with that problem. They replaced the modem as well and then I had a solid connection. They wont tell any customers that have Motorola modems that they need to update theirs to the new one unless they ask. You wouldnt be able to know this unless your very tech savvy and I feel confident that I know my tech very well and it took me a while to Figure this out with the help of a Penn Tele data tech. He even gave me permission to screen shot my conversation with him stating that secv was in fact charging me for a service that I couldnt actually receive. Go check your modems now and get what your actually paying for!

You are better off with Verizon DSL in my opinion and experience. They advertise their internet as "more reliable" than DSL but it is not even close. It can be faster than DSL when it works, true... But it goes out and slows down so much. However, the number one issue is use of DATA CAPS. This company treats your home wired broadband like it is a mobile phone. Even Australia, probably the worst internet of all developed countries, is phasing out data caps. Service Electric is using the technology of yesterday and data caps that limit their customers. Since you cant watch Netflix or Hulu with a large family on their plans, they are basically cutting out competition so that you can only watch their cookie cutter cable TV and mindlessly flip through channels most of which you dont watch or want and you can only watch what is on at the time. They are so stuck in the past and I cant wait until they run into financial problems. If a REAL fiber provider or a cable company with values like RCN came in, theyd be out of business.

I cant really say I have too many complaints. Our internet is a little slow, but our router is ancient so that is probably why. What I love is the customer service. Anyone I have ever had any contact with has been friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. We had a problem with our line at 5:00 on a Friday night, and the technician that came had been on his way home. He had to run a whole new cable from the road to our house, all by himself. Had that been me, I would have been miserable! But he was so nice about it!

Can you give less than 1? I pay for high speed internet and cannot even load a page without waiting (NOT the computers!). Most days I have to wait an hour or more to even get on the internet - staff tells me there is a lot of traffic - learned limiting filter never removed after paying for 3 years. This is absolutely the WORST company I have ever dealt with in four states. This monopoly is unbelievable!

Horrible service, and internet goes out a few times a day. They upped my speed without telling me which in turn upped my bill but the speed was still horrible. It took over a month to even get internet service and they charge much more than other providers but this was the only provider in the area so I didnt have a choice. If you have other options for cable or internet avoid this company at all costs!

Why are people supporting this company? Is everyone that despearate to watch television? This company offers terrible customer service and always with an attitude. The internet and rates are not competitive because they literally have a monopoly in some areas. If Comcast or Verizon started to offer services in many of Service Electrics areas, this horrible company would sink very fast.

Pay attention to your bills my bill went from 130 to 600 and when I call to ask why I was told I would have to pay for them to review the billing information payments etc. They checked saw I didnt owe them anything past due no apologies poor customer service people in billing department are incompetent and internet sucks! They will try to con you if you allow them to BEWARE BILLING ERRORS
