Ive read the negative reviews, and I wanted to add my two cents. The guys at Timp Tire have been nothing but absolutely friendly, responsive, and honest. I was on a tight budget needing to get my car registered, and they did everything they could think of to get me to come in under my budget, and safely pass S/IM. In fact, they even laid out an entire repair plan, and said theyd normally recommended I do the pricer repair several other shops recommended, but said there may be an off chance that an less expensive repair may get the results I needed. They even offered to deduct the cost of that to the more expensive repair if it didnt work, which low and behold, actually repaired the vehicle. I had taken my car to two other shops in town, and they are the only shop that didnt treat me like an idiot because I was a woman, talk down to me, or try to slide a fast one by me. Plus, they were less expensive by at least 10% than the other shops I visited. The men are a little gruff and short on customer service, but they get the job done, get it done under budget, and get it done honestly, and thats all I really care about.

I had had some work done previously here that was a little expensive but seemed to work. I brought my car in that needed some new brakes and they told me that I needed everything redone. I paid $700 for it and asked them to change the oil while they were at it. When I got my car back several days later ( I can now do a brake job by myself in a few hours) it was running terribly. I picked it up on the way to work so I didnt have time to have them look at it again. That night when I got off and started my car I started getting a loud knocking and the power of the motor was gone. The next day I took it back to them and they said "Oh yeah that engine is shot. I wouldnt have done a brake job on that if I had noticed it sounded like that." It didnt sound like that when I brought it in. They have done tires for me a few times and while a little on the expensive side they were fine but I will never go back there for anything after that experience. On a side note and maybe this is coincidence but they seem nice to the ladies that go in there. Check the rattings.

While this place has done competent work for me a couple times in the past, I was recently ripped off. An old car of mine had a headlight out, and they agreed to fix it. I came back, paid about $25, I drove off and realized the light was unusually dim. I went back, they looked at it again, and said they couldnt figure out the problem. They recommended another place that was better equipped to solve a wiring problem. However, I took it to another repair shop and had a quick fix: the fuse needed to be replaced. Why couldnt they figure that out? Also, at the same time, I paid them $50 to look into a grinding sound coming from the front of the car. They told me the left tire needed new bearings. The second shop checked it out and said, no, its not the bearings--its the transmission. Not good news, but I paid Timp Tire $50 to tell me something that wasnt even true. They might be OK with tire fixing, but these people are not competent with other repairs! Very disappointing.

I took it here when I got a flat tire and it was the closest place. They replaced the tire and didnt put the spare back. Of course thats not something you look for until you need it again. But the real kicker is I blew the head gasket on my car, they checked it out and told me it was pretty well worthless and that I could leave it in the parking lot by the building until I sold it for a couple hundred. I go back after a while and its gone. Straight up, gone. I ask them about it and the best most coherent thing I can get out of them is "Oh, theres a guy that comes and gets some sometimes to donate to the blind." What!? Are blind people pretending to drive immovable cars somewhere?! And he just takes whatever cars he sees parked around? And on top of that they sexually harassed my friend in a totally unrelated incident. Wish this whole linear star rating thing went to the negatives.

Last week I had my chevy pick up towed to the shop, the clutch went out and needed to be replaced, we were told it was supposed to be done by Thursday but they ordered the wrong part and instead did not finish until Monday. When I asked if they would give me a discount for taking an extra 4 days (3 business days) because they had ordered the wrong part I was told that they do not give discounts for taking extra time. When he handed me the bill it came to $800 dollars total! The tow was $45, the clutch was $200, and labor fees were $500! ($92/hr.) The car now works, but has a weird ticking noise that it didnt have before. I cant complain too much about the customer service, not the worst Ive had but definitely not greatest, and with prices like that I would expect much more. I will not be returning, nor will I refer any friends of family to this shop either.

Extremely honest and helpful. Before driving an old Honda Civic from Provo to Houston we took it to the Honda dealer in Orem--they said we needed $2,000 worth of work including new rack and pinion steering, brakes etc. Seemed way more than needed. Went to Timp and they confirmed we did not need a new rack and pinion steering system and didnt need the brake work the dealer recommended. Spent about $150 instead of $2,000. Drove all the way to Houston in the beater Civic safely. Trusted mechanic in Houston confirmed the Timp guys were right on in their diagnosis. Thank goodness for honest, proficient mechanics! Went there again today and they found reasonable cost solutions to problems with the same old civic. One of the best shops I have ever taken a car to.

My Ford Explorer wouldnt start while in a nearby parking lot but fortunately I was right next to Lone Peak Tire & Auto Repair. I was able to get the problem diagnosed (bad alternator) and the problem fixed that same afternoon. I had been suspecting my alternator was going out but last week the Ford dealership said they couldnt find a problem. Great to have a nearby car repair shop with friendly staff, competent mechanics and reasonable prices. This was my first visit, but I will definitely be returning for future needs.

Every time we have been in, the crew have been compassionate, patient, and bend over backwards to make sure we can afford, what we came in to get done. Car troubles are the worst for a super tight budget... these guys, treat us with dignity, and professionalism. From the first time we went in for innertubes, to most recently when our only car had a major breakdown, with no money in the bank. They cant run their business like a charity - but they definitely run their business with compassion. Thank you!
