The service at the master muffler in Layton is amazing. I have never once had a bad experience. I left town for a few years and after getting ripped off several times began working on my own vehicles. upon returning to town, I am happy to have master muffler back. Most recently, I dropped my truck off with the parts that I already bought from an auto parts store. I took a cab elsewhere while they worked on it. Come to find out I ordered the wrong part. The auto parts store couldnt deliver the new part the same day, so a master muffler employee drove to the store to exchange the part for me so I wouldnt have to pay for a cab back. They saved me a cab ride there and back and there again equaling $80 that I would have paid extra, the time taken out of my fun filled day to get the correct part. They returned the old parts and gave me my refund from returni On top of that they showed me get a $10 off coupon. They could have easily stopped service until I brought in the correct part or since I needed it done by tomorrow they could have charged me for their parts. Absolutely fantastic. I have several other great experiences, but not enough time to express my appreciation. Thank you Tim and your team for your excellent customer service!!!!

PLEASE READ. I know most of us only post reviews when we have something negative to say and rarely when we have a positive experience. I have visited Master Muffler 3 times now with my first 2 visits being free of charge and two years apart. Yesterday around 3:30 in the afternoon my Subaru Tribeca lost power and literally died on us while turning into the Target parking lot. Every mechanic we called couldnt have it checked until Monday, until we thought...MM. Unfortunately they stated they couldnt look at our car until Saturday but that was much better than Monday, so we had it towed to MM. We received a phone call from them immediately after our car arrived there. Tim was so easy to work with and to our surprise, said he was able to take a look at it right then. Next thing you know, our car was fixed and ready to be picked up 45 minutes later (and a great price for the fix) They provided excellent customer service and we couldnt be more thankful to MM for taking such good care of us and over delivering! Thanks again MM for the great customer service. Well be using you again!

Im a bit disappointed. I came in looking for a quote on labor, and found some fees that are aggravating. They wont let you being your own parts, which at first was fine, considering I get parts from a parts store. I can, however, get the parts discounted, so I wanted to utilize that. The gentlemen was honest about a mark up for obtaining the parts, which I appreciate the honesty, but why on earth are you marking up cost of parts? Also, they charge $89 per hour for labor, which isnt bad, but I dont know what shops theyre talking about when they tried telling me there was a fee for tool usage that is competitive. Now I know that the mechanic who would be working on my car isnt making $89 an hour, or even remotely close to that, so why do we have a separate fee for tools that I, myself, am not using? You would figure that you would just put your maintenance fees for tools into your labor cost. Overall customer service experience, I appreciate the forward and honesty of the representative, but these fees are ridiculous, and I wont provide business here because of them.

I called on Tuesday to get a quote on some work for my car. The guy who answered the phone said his name was Mark. He was so rude and acted like I was the dumbest person in the world and wouldnt answer any of my questions. He told me to come down so he could look at it. When I got there, there were three people in line ahead of me and the poor counter girl was trying to go as quick as she could but the phone kept ringing. There was a guy sitting at the counter and he kept asking her if she had done this or that yet and got mad when she said she hadnt had a chance to, but he ignored all of us waiting in line. The guy finally asked what the next person needed and he said he had to pick up his car. He said oh shell get you billed out, and then he walked away. His name tag said Mark so Im gonna safely assume it was the same guy who I talked to on the phone. I ended up leaving without talking to anyone and probably wont come back.

I finally found the place I trust. I take all four of my vehicles to this Master Muffler. I have always come away satisfied with the work and the price. I have not ever had anything major done there yet but when the need arises, this is where I will take it. I took my 1979 MGB to them for Emissions and Safety. This is a car I am working to bring back up to reliable drive-ability. The car passed with flying colors and they made some recommendations that I could do myself. I never felt like they were trying to get more out of me but rather help me with the things I can do. My wife is usually the one who takes the vehicles in because of our schedules and I never worry about them trying to sell her a product or service that is unnecessary. We have been using Master Muffler almost exclusively for about two years, I believe, and I have absolutely zero complaints. Thank you Master Muffler.

Service providers lied about repairs required for the vehicle, they said parts could only be requested by original manufacturer of the car, but it turns out that the parts needed was a fourth of the price at autozone which is very deceptive practice in the merchants side especially since the vehicle had not one problem, I was told not to drive the car and Ive barely purchased it the beginning of this week, ofcourse me knowing a bit about cars started inspecting and it turns out there was nothing wrong with vehicle hence crooks trying to steal from people by associating with big dealerships in order to force customers to feel like they have no other choice but to buy parts and pay for labor thats unecessary. What a bunch of unprofessional punks.

I just took my car to jiffy lube for safety and emissions. emissions passed, but safety didnt due to my car missing a mount on the exhaust. they recommended that I go here to get it fixed. so I call them up and they say it depends on the car, but the mounts start at $10. So I take my car in and they were more than helpful. the comes back about 20 minutes later and said that I had two leaks in my exhaust right around the cat and that for a patch job it would cost around $300. For a complete fix it would be $500. Ok, so how in the hell did I JUST pass emissions if I have exhaust leaks? furthermore, why is a patch job $300 when I can get a tube of JB Weld high temp for $8? This place is a rip off and I will never return.
