Great place to go if youre cool with your car sitting in their parking lot for an entire day while they slooooooowly work on the other cars in their queue. Made an appointment in advance for 9 a.m. on a Sunday. I drop off the car, tell them to check a couple problems with it (shaking (probably in wont of an alignment) and transmission issues), and then head home. Three hours go by, no word from the shop, so we finally call them for an update. The guy at the shop has no idea as to the status of our car, so we have to repeat what we need them to look for AGAIN, as nobody had yet touched it (and apparently lost the notes on the job). My wife specifically mentions (again) that we are guessing it needed an alignment and is having transmission problems. We wait a couple more hours and finally hear back. Seems they took it for a test drive and cant find the problem. By now its 2 pm. The guy on the phone tells my wife that they still havent figured out the transmission issue, but that the shaking is probably just a tire balancing problem and that theyll fix it up soon. At 4:30, 30 minutes before closing, we havent heard back so, a little worried, we call again. Were informed that the car is not only not ready, but isnt even in a bay yet. Nothing has been done to it at all. By this time, the car has been at the shop for 7 1/2 hours. Better yet, they have now decided that WE were originally right and that the problem with the car is almost certainly an alignment problem, as one of the rear wheels is being abnormally worn. With no time to actually perform the alignment, we had no choice but to tell them to do a quick balancing before closing time. We will be taking our vehicle elsewhere for the remainder of the work, as these guys are either incompetent, untrustworthy, or both. Time will tell. So thats Virginia Auto & Tire. It doesnt matter what YOU think is wrong with YOUR car, it will be ignored, as will your car. Despite us telling them from the outset that we believed the alignment was off, they disregarded our opinion, parked our car in their lot for an entire day, and then feverishly threw together a quick balancing (which I wont trust whatsoever) at the last minute after time had run out on the real problem. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND, and thats an understatement.

Used them twice now and there wont be a third time. The first time was because of an air bag light. Took three days of ordering the wrong part, not meeting time expectations (that they set) before they finally fixed it leaving me a large bill for labor and parts. The second time was because immediately after departing the first time the window on the door they took apart started squeeking. I took it back and immediately the front desk sales people tried to set the tone by insisting it wasnt anything they did. I guess its just bad luck that a vehicle with less than 10000 miles on it has a window that starts squeeking the same day that they give it back on the same door that they took apart to replace the air bag sensor. After making an appointment for 830 am my car doesnt get brought in until 910. When I ask why my car is still in the parking lot after making the appointment, they say the mechanic was finishing up another car. It just happens that he drives up as a passenger in another vehicle at that same time appearing to just arrive at work for the first time. Lastly, the front desk staff needs retraining. Not only did they seem stand offish but they also had the ability to make me feel like I was dealing with a used car salesman in a shady town. Never any apologies for wasting my time on wrong parts nor for being extremely tardy on scheduled appointments. Ive also never seen a place where I saw more than fifty percent of the customers leave upset. Integrity, professionalism and good customer skills are important to me, this shop is lacking in all three. The only positive I would be willing to say is that Josh the mechanic who worked on my vehicle seemed to know what he was doing and made me feel that he wasnt BSing me at all. I WONT use VA Tire and Auto again but would be willing to let Josh fix my car, he was the only bright spot in multiple otherwise very bad experiences.

If you guys dont know they have two locations, one in parkhurst plaza (this one) and the new one on Waxpool road (Icerink). As the many reviewers of the other shop say, these people are basically after your money. You might ask, after all every car mechanic is like that - whats new? Let me go into little detail - From my experience (and of my few friends), they are after people who think they can loot. Their prime picks are of middle aged people driving 3 to 7 year old sedans (Ashburn is full of high income people - go check county records) who come for oil change/state inspection. They have many people in black pants/white shirts/ties who are nothing but salesmen (like a used car store). If you havent got the clue how come there are so many people working in front desk, youll when you get the estimate for .... unnecessary battery replacement/brake replacement/flushes etc... I havent heard of any one who came out with less than $1000 estimate. My personal experience - - They said my battery is almost dead and it needs $120 battery immediately, where as its good enough for another year or two as per Costco (their the battery costs $56) - I know that my car needs brake pads soon (theyll last for another 3000 miles or so, as per two different mechanics). But these guys gave me an estimate of $800 (saying my accord needs special and expensive brake pads which needs to be ordered). Give me a break... - Apparently my car with $50K miles needs transmission flush.... My biggest complaint is that I had to tell lies just to get out of the shop. Once they figured out that I am not going to pay them any more money, they just stopped talking. I had to wait for 20 minutes, request 3 different people to get the keys back (after the oil change is finished)

They are good for inspections but I would not go their for anything else. I had pretty bad experience earlier in the year when I went for repair. I went in with steering being out of control completely, they gave a quote. I went with them for the costly repair. After a week or 2 later when I went on 495, I started noticing that the steering wheel would vibrate badly when I went over 50. I went back to ask them to take a look and told them that my steering wheel vibrated badly on the highways. I was told I need balancing the wheels. I asked a simple question, I came with a steering being broke, is this something that should have been taken care during the first big repair. I got a tacky answer that they would have known only if they test drove it and there was no means to do it. I was irritated but at that point they had put me in a corner. Either I can pay around 50 for diagnostic and leave or go with the recommended repair. I did not have time or energy and went with the repair. To add insult to injury at the end of repair the guy comes and tells me that they recommend changing all 4 tires!!. I said I dont want to do it and just asked them to finish the repair. Ive checked in with 2 mechanics during oil change and during another repair and they both told me what I had suspected, I had plenty more life on my tires(It did not even have 40K on them). I definitely felt taken for a ride here, they bring to life the bad business stereotypes that are despised for being pushy and that will up sell with a filmy chance.
