Koons. What to say. A great family, but a horrible business. I bought a Mustang here in 1995, and well, it wasnt a great experience then. I recently went back to see about buying a Ford truck. Granted I asked about (the apparently hot) Raptor and/or Limited. Here are my experiences and why Koons is just not worthwhile. I browsed online. I sent in a request but dont hate to give my real phone ### because who wants to be called all the time. I know salespeople think theyre being helpful but when I get home that time is for family/myself. So I gave my real email (and explained). The Sales Manager responded back with "NOT INTERESTED." Thats a quote. I replied, stating I couldnt believe that was her response -- so she through me to her Internet Sales guy, Mike Bancroft (?). After a few calls, I was able to touch base with Mike. He didnt remember calling me, but yet did as I had his cell phone... which he left on my email. He seemed pretty lost -- Im assuming he was busy and just not well organized. OK. I asked him about the Trucks and he explained that Raptors were hot and so Ford was asking $15K over MSRP -- which is generally true, but there are some who are asking slightly less. (Sales people lie?!) Anyways a star deducted for just the hassle and frankly the distaste. In person visit. I decided to swing by as I was in the area on Sunday. I parked my car and walked in. No one spoke to me. I finally found a sales guy. I asked if I could see a Raptor or Limited. Raptors are all on order -- they dont have inventory -- but they have a Limited (1 only!). He couldnt find it on the lot. I had to point it out to him. "Oh yeah, that is it!" The car was locked so he got the key. He stood about 100 ft away (it was drizzling) and opened it, and then stayed away while I climbed all around the truck. It was a beautiful truck. But I couldnt ask any questions as the guy wouldnt come over. So eventually I walked back to ask him. He really couldnt answer any questions, but just wanted to know if I would that truck. I told him definitely NO but that I was doing my research and would consider using him when I made my decision at the end of January. So we returned inside and he essentially abandoned me. Again, I just wandered around looking at other models, and finally found another sales guy and got a card in case I had questions. After thinking about it for a second, I threw the card away. Im not going to beg to for a salespersons attention. The dealership itself is reasonably well laid out, but in the course of my wanderings, I went by the service area. The area was really small, able to handle maybe 3 or 4 customers sitting. I asked 2 people how they found the service and they werent particularly glowing, with fine being the answer. One did mention they liked the shuttle to the metro (EFC), but that it was sporadic. I was taking a star based on my experience with the Internet Manager, a star for the sales guy, a star for the arrogance of Ford and dealership in general (hey, its not their fault how Ford chooses to allocate Raptors, but they didnt help either). And a star based on my experience with them from 1995. Simply put, if you want a Ford Truck (and you have to REALLY want it) Id recommend driving out I-66 to a less urban area. And, in general, I cant recommend Koons at all. Good luck out there!

I rarely write reviews, and when I do it is usually because the service was so great. Unfortunately, the service was so bad in this case I was compelled to write this review. My fiancé and I had a horrible experience with Koons Falls Church Ford. We were only looking and did not intend to buy, but the price we were offered seemed too good to pass-up. As soon as we decided to buy everything went downhill. Our salesman would make a representation and later we would find out he lied or was just inept. To recount a few: (1) "Come in tonight and we will get the deal done." My fiancé goes in, waits a couple of hours and accomplishes nothing that couldnt have been done over the phone or the computer. (2) "This new $400 plates fee is standard with all dealers." The plates fee was not standard with all dealers, it was one of many fees tacked on in an attempt to nickel and dime us back up in price--it cost four times as much as our State charges to register the vehicle and deliver license plates. (3) "I have ran the credit options, you qualify for everything. You just need to come in and sign the papers." She goes in again. After making her wait a couple hours they only have one option with an unreasonably high interest rate. Due to one deception after another we decided not to buy from this dealer and request our $3,000 deposit be returned. Our car salesman never calls us again and the guy in charge of our financing, Joshua Jones, doesnt return our phone calls that day. I call again the next morning and finally get a hold of him. He says the car salesman was supposed to call us the day before to inform us the deposit was refunded. At this point he informs me it will be three to five business days until we receive the refund. We wait five business days from the day before, no refund. Assuming he lied about the day the cash was refunded we wait another day, still nothing. I call and leave a voicemail, no response. I call the next morning and ask for the person in charge of refunds, I get Josh Jones. This is when he informs me that their accounting department never actually processed our refund. At least this time they send me a receipt. Now, I am informed it will be 5-7 days until the refund will show up in our account. This is day one. The failure on the part of Koons to refund our money does not surprise me. This whole process was marked with deceit and ineptitude on the part of Koons, often making it difficult to distinguish which was at play. I would strongly discourage anyone buying from Koons Falls Church Ford.

Facts and no emotion: Purchased a 2015 Explorer from this location on 28 Feb 2015. It was end of month and packed but I remained patient and was able to get the vehicle I wanted. The SALES PROCESS was average simply because the sales personnel (yes I dealt with more than one salesperson) did not listen to what I was saying and continued to run down their checklist of items regardless. The FINANCE PROCESS was the best part of the entire deal and Kendra (I hope that is right) was awesome and exceeded my expectations. VEHICLE PREP was UNSAT! In fairness I will take part of the blame because I should have slowed down and inspected the vehicle at the dealer before leaving. If I would have done the inspection at the dealer I would have noticed 4 under inflated tires, a drivers door that only closed properly if slammed, markings on the windshield, hood not secured properly and a passenger side rear door that refused to open unless the vehicle was turned off and then back on. I called Koons Monday (2 Mar) and got an appointment to drop the vehicle off on 3 Mar at 7:30am. I went back to Koons on 4 Mar at 5pm (time I was told to pickup the vehicle) and talked to service who could not locate the gentleman I needed to see; who then sent me to reception to page him; who then sent me to the sales manager desk to page him; who then had a saleman take me to the used car desk to page him. Finally the person who I was supposed to meet at 5pm and get my vehicle appeared at 5:30. I got my keys went back to service to turn in my loaner and that started another chain of events about my service ticket not being closed and them telling me my vehicle was not ready. Even though I stated several times I have the keys and the vehicle is ready. This went on for another 15 minutes. Finally they gave up and I departed the dealer. Lesson Learned - take your time and inspect your vehicle and the sales process is the process but stick to your guns and get the deal you want. However nothing beats a good service team that is professional and will care about you and your vehicle. With that said, Koons Ford does not meet the mark and there is no way I would commute from Dale City to Falls Church for this type of treatment for vehicle service. If they were top notch, LISTENED and professional? Yes I would. In fairness to the dealership, they put the paint and interior sealant package on the vehicle and I appreciate that but I guess the retired Marine in me rather have the dedication to duty and attention to detail than the free stuff.
